Consistently one of the best Chinese restaurants in Cincy. Be sure to check out the authentic menu, not just the Americanized one. If you’re not sure what to get, ask for recommendations. The servers are friendly and will do their best to help.(They even help me practice my Chinese!) Our faves: scallion pancakes, black pepper beef, red dry chili chicken, noodles with«hongshao» beef(this is a soup dish), tofu braised in soy sauce, baby bok choy with minced garlic, buckwheat tea.

Sichuan bistro is down the street from my mom’s neighborhood so I’ve dined here many times over the years. Sichuan style food is my absolute favorite type of Chinese food and this place always hits the spot! I’ve never ordered off the American Chinese menu so I can’t comment on those dishes. The authentic menu has plenty of delicious and tongue numbing choices for you to choose from. The dry chili chicken is great but the fish version might be even better. The Spicy fish stew and all the soups are excellent. The mapo tofu is much spicier than I’ve had at other places but very satisfying. My brother’s favorite dish is a non spicy one — the pork with chive flowers, sooo delicious. If you’ve never had Sichuan food, it’s often made with Sichuan peppercorns which give food a numbing sort of spiciness called ‘ma la’ in chinese. I love it, but be warned, you may end up drenched in sweat like my dad does every time we eat here. It’s a little pricy and it looks like other people have complained about the service which is unfortunate. If you come here often enough the owners will remember you. Bottom line is, everything I’ve had here is extremely delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Delicious schezwan food! Service is okay but the proprietors have become friendly with friends of ours who are local to the area and come here often. Try the boiled fish — delicious! The spicy lamb with cumin is excellent as well. The Mala chicken and the beef tripe appetizer is delicious. My suggestion would be to order from the authentic Chinese menu and avoid entirely the American Chinese part of the menu. The service is fast and efficient and the ambience is not high brow but you don’t come to restaurants like these for a high brow ambience. I consider it to be a local gem in mason Ohio. It’s a great little restaurant for authentic schezwan Chinese.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. Very very good food. I have eaten here at least 50 times. Very consistent and very good. You have to go here if you have not…

It’s located in this little strip mall, but I really liked the décor and coziness of the interior and everyone seemed super friendly although I just got takeout. My girlfirend had the sweet n sour chicken, which was perfectly made though let’s be real this is standard, boring americanized chinese food. I had the red chile chicken off of the Sichuan menu and was blown away by the aromatic spice that complemented the thick crispy batter on the chicken. I’m not sure even this is truly authentic either, but it was delciious. I’d definitely recommend ordering off of this menu like many of the other reviewers have stated. The rice on both dishes was perfectly cooked. It seems so simply, but often times you’ll find restaurants that cook the rice too much rendering it into mush or too little making it tough to eat. The only criticism I can really offer on the dish that I had is that it needed a little sauce or something as going from crispy fried chicken to plain white rice made for a fairly dry mouthfeel. I think the chicken was crispy enough to stand up to a light sauce too.

The food was absolutely delicious, came out hot and steamy. No complaints there. The service, on the other hand was absolutely terrible. Our entire group felt ignored for the better part of an hour as the waitress attended and served tables that came after us. May have been the age range of our friends(~20ish) Either way, the wait absolutely killed the mood and the food did little to liven our spirits. I hope the restaurant gets their service together, the food truly is very good.

I really wanted to love this place. Great reviews and the place was packed — all good signs. My husband and I want for dinner this evening and I will say the food was fresh but lacked flavor. The most frustrating part was that I received my food and my husband received his 10 minutes later. Twice I saw customers walk up to the front to ask for refills. What a bummer!

Awesome food and service! The pork belly(cooked twice) was so rich in flavor and spice I can’t stop eating it. And the pea leaves(tou miao) was excellent too!

Wow. Definitely order authentic menu, not regular menu. Great food, definitely sichuan, wonderful tastes. Be experimental! The loss of a star was due to service — yes, they were busy, but we felt ignored quite a bit. Almost felt that simply leaving would be easier than paying the bill, but of course that wasn’t a decent option.

Sichuan in the Midwest! I can’t speak on the authenticity because I’ve never had this cuisine outside of the US, but it tasted«about right» compared to other«authentic» sichuan cuisine I’ve had. Service was straightforward — no frills, which is fine by me. One thing that was weird, we were served with forks instead of chopsticks… Maybe because we’re white? Other than that, all was good.

Best Chinese in 513 area code by far Two menus. One is Westernized Chinese and one very authentic Shanghai region cuisine. The authentic is only for the adventuresome. Jellyfish is available. We do the Westernized. My favorite is Hot Pepper Chicken, the hottest Asian dish I’ve ever had. Most of the standbys are available as well. Décor is basic. We usually do takeout. On busy nights the crowd is big and mostly Asian. Service is generally pretty good but can be hurried. Highly recommended.

It’s hard to recommend Sichuan Bistro with average food and sky high prices. I understand Chinese restaurants are not common for this area but seriously it feels like a rip off coming here to eat. I’m a hardcore fan of spicy food so it’s a given that Sichuan food is high on my cravings list. Considering the crazy prices at Sichuan Bistro, one would have high expectations and expect to be blown away by the food. But no — sadly the entire experience from beginning to end can be perfectly described as MEH.

Solid Sichuan cuisine but make sure you order from the authetic Chinese menu and not from the American menu. The food is definitely on the greasy side but if you like spicy food, you will love the ample amounts of chili oil, peppers, and spices. Some highlights: 1. Mala Beef — Quick-fried and tossed in chili oil. Very spicy and tender. This dish literally made my colleague grin from ear to ear. 2. Dry sauteed green beans — Decent and very simple with tender and fresh green beans quickly stir-fried with garlic, salt, oil, and fried shallots 3. Chicken with woodear mushrooms — This was good but there was actually more zucchini than woodear mushrooms, although the chicken was sliced thin and very tender. This was a bit on the greasy side but that’s what the rice is there for. The service was very slow and they forgot about us for a good 15 minutes before we literally had to flag our server down. They also have black, puh-err, green, and chrysanthemum tea, which was a great plus. Definitely one of the more authentic Chinese restaurants in Mason.

We ordered 4 things from the authentic Chinese menu along with barley tea which had a really yellow almost neon tint, maybe it’s just the type of barley they had but I’m not sure. Beef Tendons– cold appetizer, probably the best dish out of the 4. Yushang Eggplant– it was good, sweet sour salty combo but for me there was too much sauce on it. Dumplings w/Chili Oil– kinda disappointed with this one because the dumplings were the same ones they use for the Americanized dishes. Chongqing Mala Beef– this one was kinda disappointing too because there weren’t any mala at all, it was more of beef stirred fried in chili peppers. Overall, it’s good give it a try if you haven’t had Sichuan food before.

This place reminds me of the soup nazi from Seinfeld. The food is great, but the service is mediocre at best. This doesn’t really bother me because I carry out, but it seems like only the owner is comfortable taking orders over the phone and cashing people out. This creates a backlog when picking up your food or ordering by phone. The big take away is the food is great and they offer an authentic portion of the menu. I have had the spicy sizzling chicken, dry red chili chicken, Yushang pork, authentic kung pao, and the pipa duck. I enjoyed all of these, especially the dry red chili chicken. I would recommend trying this place outside of peak hours/days, that will make your experience much better.

Our usual goto Sichuan place was packed and had a long wait so we decided to give Sichuan Bistro a try. We ordered sweet & sour chicken(kids loved it), dry chili chicken(husband said not spicy enough), vegetable lomein, dry-sauteed green beans and hot & sour soup(very. hot.) It bothered me that the soup came after our meal. Overall this place is better than most Chinese restaurants in the area, but the service is a little slow.

I’m very on the fence about wither this place is a 3 or if it deserves a 4, but if I drill down to the heart of what Sichuan cuisine is, this place is probably spot on. Having come here with both a large group and with just 2 people, the restaurant setting is versatile yet not to overwhelmingly open for multiple sizes of groups. As well, these have all provided opportunities to try out a large variety of food. Signature Sichuan dishes are various types of water-cooked(think steamed/boiled) fish in spicy broths, noodles that are both sweet and spicy, and spicy fried chicken nuggets. I love spicy foods, but with the spice in Sichuan cuisine comes a lot of spicy oil and it’s namely because of that that I try to avoid this kind of food. It’s delicious, it’s filling, but it can be overly greasy, so I tend to eat a lot of rice to soak it all up. Sichuan’s bistro most popular dish among my circle of friends is their spicy fried chicken. Granted, it is really delicious, but the last thing about this place is the price point. Sichuan Bistro is considered very ‘high end’ as far as price goes for Chinese cuisine. Yes, there is cheap, low quality, take out Chinese food, then there’s cheap, deliciously scrumptious real Chinese food, and then there’s places like PF Chang’s or whatever«higher end» Chinese food, then there’s expensive, real Chinese food. The last category is where this place falls under. It’s good, but honestly, the price point doesn’t give me much reason beyond the«but» to come here. The food is a 4, the price is a 3.

I can’t seem to find a «good enough» non-chain Chinese restaurant in this God-forsaken town, especially anything in the northeast direction. This one came up as the best from a Unilocal search and all of the pictures look great, so I decided to order something for lunch(to go). Chicken Egg Fu Young was my choice. I drove 20 minutes to this place from the job site, hoping it would be worth the trip given the location being notably on the«better living» side of town. I found it nestled in the middle of a strip mall in Mason. The entrance was awkward stepping right into one side of the dining area. Patrons were enjoying red, soupy chicken dishes, vegetables and rice. The portions looked good. I could hear the cook(s) singing in the back. The guy that checked me out was quick and cordial. Leaving the place I once again looked at the dishes the patrons were chomping on. The entry/exit doors had low handles, meant for children?! Anyway, the Egg Fu Young came with 3 large patties, about 6 oz. translucent soy sauce gravy and rice(fried $ 1.00 extra). The patties were good. Chicken was tender but under cooked. The soy sauce gravy was on the salty side and the fried rice was tasty aside from the hard peas in it. They didn’t taste like it but the wrinkly, dry, hard texture of it might indicate they were freezer-burned. IDK They have quite a few things on the menu that I’d like to try but I’m not sure I will be back.
