Great find with the help of Unilocal!I was in town for work and looking for something different. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. I ordered the fish and chips and it was awesome. 2 large filets and fries. It was hot and the breading was crispy. The fish was perfectly cooked. If your looking for something different give it a try!

Have eaten here several times an it has always been ok. However, The last time we ate here the food was Very Good! much better than previous visits. Not sure if the BOH staff has been upgraded or if hey have tweaked the preparation or ingredients. Still bar food — just very good vs mediocre. My wife and I both had burgers and split an order of chicken wings. Hoping our next visit is as good as our last.

As far as pub food, this place is great! We loved the fried pickles and the soup of the day, Poblano Pepper Cheese Bisque, was divine. My husband had the Shrimp Po’Boy sandwich and I had the Gaylord’s Favorite, which was a BBQ bacon cheeseburger. Both hit the spot. The beer choice is wide and eclectic. We enjoyed the comfy, leather booths. This is a perfect restaurant to go and watch sports, have and beer and eat food that’s delicious(yet probably isn’t good for you) with friends, family or a date.

In town staying at GWL, and very thankful for Unilocal and glad we tried this place out. On a Wednesday there was a 15 minute wait-shows us it’s a good place. The all you can eat shrimp was excellent and the Brussel sprouts were very good as well. The fish sandwich had a tasty hand battered taste. The kids meals were a good size and came with a yummy Apple treat.

Great food and generous portions. Staff was friendly and helpful. Fish and chips were huge and not greasy. Philly was delicious. Kids meals were free with online coupon. Kids portions were appropriate for ~8 year old

This is bad bad place. Always out of everything. Bar manager, Jamie and bartender Josh are rude and disrespectful. Will never go back… Go down the road not even half to Thirsty’s…much better friendlier service!!!

Good bar /restaurant. The food on a «bar food» scale is good. They had a seasonal special on Lobster Rolls which were really good. The steak fries are really thick and perfectly seasoned. Their happy hour drink specials go until 7PM, and plenty of TVs to view games and news.

We went there on Good Friday and in the throws of March Madness. We did call ahead seating and the quote was for 30 minutes. We got there right after the quote and the hostess said«it might be a while before they could seat a table of five». We told her we did call ahead and she was very rude and said that it isn’t guaranteed. I asked her about an empty table of five behind the hostess stand and she said it was for someone else. My aunt said this particular hostess is always really rude. We waited about five minutes and then were given the table that was empty. She was very unpleasant and should be trained in customer interaction. That said, the food was excellent and our server was outstanding! My aunt recommended the fried mushrooms to start out with. They were really hot and tasted great! The portion was enormous! My uncle was raving about the fish and chips and got that. The order came with two huge pieces of fish and a lot of steak fries. My mom got the salmon and she loved it. My cousin had a cheeseburger and a ton of fries. I got the Greek Salad, without the cheese, onions or feta. It was not the best salad, but they gave me a lot of kalamata olives, so I was a happy camper. My aunt got the shrimp po’boy. She said it was just mediocre. I normally would have ordered something off their extensive list of seafood, but I’m on a vegan diet. If I go back, that tuna will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine!

Went in as a group of 6. Waited for a while for a bigger table. Service was average and the food was average. I do have to give credit for their clam chowder. It is very delicious. The location is very convenient it is definitely a Neighborhood restaurant.

In town to stay at Great Wolf Lodge and checked Unilocal for local places to eat. Thankfully this place popped up. Large tables for families of 6 or more. Food was great. Stuffed bellies. Too bad there isn’t another one closer to home. I’m sure we’ll be back if we ever come back to Kings Island or Great Wolf Lodge.

We were very pleasantly surprised by how good our food was. We each had the fish dinner, with blackened cod. Very good fish! Accompanied by wild rice and vegetable kabobs. All great! Good beer selection and good service. We will go back!

We went on Wednesday evening, which is all-you-can-eat shrimp night, and although I did not have the shrimp(allergic), everyone said it was really fresh, with a very light batter. I had the fried cod with broccoli(steamed, no butter) and cole slaw. I am not a fried food person, but my sister-in-law has been raving about this fish forever, so I had to give it a go. She was absolutely right, the fish is so good(similar to Nicholson’s), and like the shrimp, the batter is really light and crispy. The cole slaw was good with a slight taste of horseradish in the dressing… I was so happy! I had to try the carrot cake, and am glad I did… very moist with raisins, lots of shredded carrots, and topped with a delicious cream cheese frosting. So amazing! Don’t want to forget the service… Our server was excellent. We were a large group and she kept the shrimp and drink refills coming, all with a great smile and wonderful attitude!

Good atmosphere. Great food! …and the kids eat free on Sunday nights! Tried the fish and chips for the kids and the Pauly burger… Both excellent! Kids all got warm apple doughnuts with fresh whipped cream for desert.

I always like to write my review after I’ve been to a place twice. You never know, the first time might have been a fluke, or might have been a weird night for the staff. But if both the first and second trip are roughly the same, it’s probably emblematic of the place in general. That said, I thought this place was great both times I went. It’s a family friendly tavern style sports bar, and it’s pretty large with a big staff. My first trip we sat in a cozy booth in the back with our own private tv! I thought that was pretty great. I ordered a classic Reuben(there are multiple Reubens on the menu) and it was big enough where I couldn’t finish it. The second time I had a special of the evening, a grilled southwest chicken club with veggies on the side, which was also excellent. Expect a wait on Friday and Saturday nights.

Nice place, nothing special, but plenty of seating and plenty of tvs. It looks to be a great place to stop by during football season. The tables are large. I went with a friend, so we ended up sitting at the bar. I believe almost every booth has a TV. Like many of the reviews, the service leaves some to be desired. But, it appeared that there were many regulars, and they did receive attentive service. The menu is vast and so is the beer. There’s plenty on tap. You should be able to find something. If you’re just going to hang out with some friends and aren’t in a rush, you’ll enjoy your visit. If you’re in a rush, it may not be my first pick. Even at the bar, it took us a couple times to wrangle the bar tender over. I’d comment on the food but all we had were the chicken nachos. It’s definitely a large portion. Again, nothing special, but did the trick. We might’ve ordered more, but again it was a little difficult to get the attention of a server. Overall, great place for large groups, just make sure you’re not in a rush and are feeling relaxed.

Thank goodness for Unilocal! How anyone in the Cincinnati suburbs manages without it, I just don’t know. Stuck in a far corner of a forsaken suburban strip mall, behind a storefront that can only be described as the most bland, boring, spiritless representation of homogenized dullness I’ve ever seen, we found a great casual dining experience! Without Unilocal,we never would have. You would never in a million years stumble across this place due to its sad location. Okay, rant over. This is one of several locations, so it’s a sort of «mini-chain.» In looking at their website, I noticed that the locations are NOT exact clones of each other. I like that. For unknown reasons, although the place is called The Old Bag of Nails, the sign out front here just says Bag of Nails Pub. Now if you come into this pub expecting mere«pub food,» prepare to be amazed. They have a shareable appetizer of steamed mussels with shrimp in a spicy garlic sauce. This could probably be their signature dish. Delicious sauce, nice amount of garlic bread, plenty of meat for two people to be satisfied. Be aware it is spicy, with that heat that kind of sneaks up on you after you swallow. Vegetable kebabs are one of the available sides for your sandwich or wrap. What? Two generous skewers of Grilled tomatoes, ‘shrooms, onion and peppers, and this in a PUB? Holy healthful alternatives! They are delectable and I highly recommend this option. I also had the Buffalo chicken wrap, substituting ranch for the blue cheese. It was perfect, and enormous. The menu has a lot of options, including a lot of seafood. Service could have been better. It was disappointing that the server couldn’t tell us what you got for happy hour, using the lame stock excuse«I usually don’t work during this time.» The pub atmosphere is somewhat spoiled by far too many TVs. Please, you’re not a sports bar, are you? I just can’t understand the unhappy trend of giant televisions literally everywhere you turn in an eating establishment. It’s so distracting; there were very few seating options in this pretty large pub where you could have a conversation without your partner’s eyes and attention constantly being drawn away from you to the big broadcast. The food was so unexpectedly and amazingly good, however, that in spite of being let down somewhat in the areas of service and atmosphere, it’s still an easy four stars. If you’re in the vicinity and hungering for some really, really good food without having to get too dressed up, come on by the Bag of Nails.

I came with very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised by this place. It looks very dark and sketchy on the outside, but inside is very open and well lit. The bar is pretty big, and the beer menu is rather extensive. And, the dining room is full of flat screen TVs — the booths even has personal flat screens! You’d expect a place like this to just have greasy bar food, but you would be wrong. The lobster roll is DEE-LISH — and I can say that having been to Boston for the real thing. The fish and chips are tasty too, for a place that’s no where near a body of water.(I recommend skipping the grilled fish option, and just go for fried. You won’t be sorry.) We were told they get NFL Sunday Ticket, so I’m looking forward to trying this place out during football season!
