The Vault makes very good deli sandwiches which are imaginative and made with high quality fresh ingredients. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The service, however, is terrible. Be prepared for a long wait and high school aged staff who have little knowledge or experience in customer service. If the service was on par with the food, I would rate five stars. But alas, the service was very aggravating…

Best Deli in the area. Located in a cute downtown, friendly, staff, unique sandwiches. The kind of quality and unique creations you’d expect to find in a bigger city. Also not overly priced. You will walk out completely satisfied. Love, love, love, this place!

Went with the«Chatty Kathy», great sandwich. They serve quality stuff: meats, cheeses, bread. Also got a nice deli pickle with it as well. Located right downtown across from the courthouse. I ate outside on a nice day at Bestsellers next door. They also have a nice selection of Michigan beers, wines, and local foods. Will definitely be coming back here. Nice spot.

Outstanding, flavorful sandwiches. They use high quality, deli meats, cheeses, and toppings to make their sandwiches. There is limited seating in the shop but, there is seating across the street by the historic Courthouse grounds. The Vault also has a large variety of freshly made salads and pasta dishes too.

Love the breads, meats and cheeses. Soup flavors are always unique. The balsamic dressing is the best! We have never been disappointed. Great craft beer and wine selection. I wish there were more places like this in the Lansing area!

Outstanding sandwiches. In fact, I drove from Lansing because my craving was quite bad yesterday. Typical of gourmet type sandwich places in that every aspect of the sandwich is considered. Good bread, high end meats, fresh leaf lettuce, onions and unique condiments. Friendly clientele, extensive wine(if that’s your thing) and beer selections. Very small detraction in that you can’t buy a beer to eat with your sandwich, but not enough to warrant a star deduction. Wine vault is exactly that. The vault of the bank from the previous occupant. Adds to the coolness. Order your sandwich, then browse thru the selection of items you would most likely not find anywhere else in Mason. One small table to eat in the establishment, or you can have your food delivered(mentioned) to the café/bookstore next door, or on tables on the sidewalk. The pasta/premium sides you can choose to upgrade aren’t the biggest of portions and probably not worth the extra money to upgrade. Nonetheless, perhaps the best $ 7.50 sandwich in recent memory. Go there.

Great little deli! I had«The Goodness» vegetarian sandwich while passing through the area. Great sandwich, bread, options. It came with a little side salad but I paid for the upcharge for a great little chickpea salad that was fantastic. Super cozy and as other reviews say, room next door to dine in. They had a great little shop full of wine and snacks that kept me more than entertained while waiting(not long at all) for my great lunch. Will be back if I’m ever in the area. Loved it!

Neat little restaurant!!! They have a great selection of sandwiches and deli salads… Note, you can’t actually eat in the store, but you can have your food delivered to the book store, next door, which has a lot of seating! They have hot and cold sandwiches, and something that will meet everyone’s interests. vegetarian, red meat, white meat, and everything in between… They have a nice wine selection and a nice selection of snacks, speads and other food items…

Read no further, go there now! This is one of the best local delis I have been to. Fresh ingredients and all homemade including their breads, sandwiches and pasta salads. The store itself is very neat, set inside an old, small bank. The wine room, you guessed it, the actual bank’s vault. No indoor seating, however, outside tables provide a nice ambiance, being located on the courtyard square. If the weather is uncooperative, you can always do takeout. Would recommend to anyone for great food and ambiance.

Their sandwiches are to die for! I had the #6 which was prime rib, aged cheddar, cucumbers, red onions, and other goodies. Service is slow and my order wasn’t totally accurate but they got the main order right and it was fabulous. Very friendly people. Bonus points for carrying my favorite and very hard-to-find Michigan wine – Left Foot Charley Murmur. It’s worth the drive to Mason for this great find! I’ll be back to try more great sandwich creations.

What a gem for Mason! Better than we have a right to expect. Incredibly imaginative sandwiches, fresh ingredients, quality breads and salads more than make up for the lack of seating and the occasional long wait while your sandwich is being constructed. As a vegetarian, I was delighted to find several(more than average) offerings on the menu which can be paired with vegetarian salads. If only you could snag a beer out of their coolers and sit on site to eat, it’d be perfect.

Excellent bread, meats, cheese, and side salads! Sometimes the breads are too hard.

The Vault Deli is owned by the people who own Bestsellers Books and Coffee next door. The Vault doesn’t have any of it’s own seating so you if you are eating in you have to sit next door at the coffee shop. This works out nicely because after you order your food you go next door for your coffee and they’ll bring your sandwiches over. The variety of hot and cold sandwiches they offer is very nice. The ingredients are fresh and high quality. The bread is excellent and they serve their hot sandwhiches right! They are warm all the way through and not just thrown on toasted bread. *UPDATE* They are open until 9 Thursday, Friday & Saturday now. So at least until 9 on Friday or Saturday you have something other than a smokey bar & pizza in Mason. While they sell beer and wine their license doesn’t allow it to be consumed on site so you’ll have to take your beverage home with you. The coolest part of their beer selection is that they let you mix it up and buy one of anything instead of having to buy a pack of something you might not like. If you get a 6 pack(even if it is a mixed pack) you get a discount.
