You want to know what I LOVE about Ace Hardware? That it’s around the block from my job and it’s not a Home Depot. Sometimes, you need to run to a hardware store, but you don’t want it to take 120 minutes to get what you need. I love that this Ace Hardware is nice and small. I always can find exactly what I’m looking for without feeling like I’m inside the IKEA of hardware stores! I always get my keys made here, too! The staff is usually pretty friendly but every now and again you find yourself getting rung up by a snotty little teenager that wants nothing to do with you — but more often — you’re being helped by someone who is nice and helpful, too. Prices here aren’t the best — but I am happy to pay for it due to pure convenience because, as I said before, it’s really close by and it’s an easy store to run in and out of without it taking forever! Enjoy!

Would attempt to avoid this place at all costs. I was buying some house supplies garbage cans, bags, rakes, etc., with my two children and figured Ace would be an easier In/Out option than going to a big store like Lowes or Home Depot. The first problem is that their carts and isles are so small getting its a choir just to bring the items along with you. I had to leave the rakes and cans in the corner of an isle and go back for them once I finished finding the rest of my items. The next problem was the line. There were maybe 5 – 7 people in line before I came up to pay and the line was snaking from the cashier to the middle/back of the store. It was making it a paint to get around the store and took way too long to get through trying to pay. Maybe getting one or two item at the right time of day might be an easier shopping experience, but I don’t know if I want to take that bet again.

Hardware /Home store chain. Ace is apparently on a building spree since the last big hardware chain on Long Island(Pergament) bailed out a few years back. Ace stores are popping up all over the place and since they are all new, they tend to be nicely designed and brightly lit. The help is above average– way better than the so-called help you can get at Home Depot. The stores are small enough to fit into local strip malls yet big enough to carry most of the day-to-day items you need to get things done around the house. Not quite as cozy as the few remaining mom and pop hardware places that are still around, you will still get some great help at Ace. Prices are ok — it depends on what the sale specials are and they have a frequent buyer program of some sort if you are the type of person who spends a lot of time and $$ in these sorts of places. Big parking lot out front.
