Went to Meldrum’s for breakfast last year — service was slow, food mediocre. Went back this week and no better — worse actually. Served me a coffee cup with lipstick on it. Waited 40 minutes for our meal, couple next to us left after waiting 45 minutes — said the day before they waited an hour. This was around 10 am — not a rush hour time for breakfast. How long does it take to cook a couple of eggs? We won’t be back.

Sunday 11:30 am Got coffee and water right away. Dining room was steady, but not busy. 20:42 from order to food on table. Canned Corned beef hash. Family feel. Saw other peoples sandwiches around us and they looked good. Would return in a blue moon on a drunken night if it was open that late.

For restaurants of this type,(family style), these folks are A-OK! We were originally headed elsewhere to dine, and succumbed to the heat of the day and the bright sun, so endless iced tea sounded perfect as we happened upon this place. I ordered their«California» salad, which had house chopped greens, apples, feta, walnuts, onion and probably more, and ponied-up for a buffaloed grilled chicken breast on top. Typically, I end up vaguely disappointed by these salads, factory chopped greens, too little of all or some of the more expensive ingredients, i.e. the nuts, or apples or cheese or chicken, but these folks had it dialed-in when it came to the overall composition. It was under-buffaloed, and it remained without remedy, as the waitress, who began our stop with more than adequate attentiveness, had turned that attention elsewhere for pretty much the balance of the meal. A nice touch which I left untouched due to the terriffic salad, was the roll and real butter which accompanied the salad. Normally I’m Jonesing for this, as the salad is usually less satisfying. I hope they continue this practice. On the flip-side, to some extent, the wife’s cheeseburger arrived to her devoid of fries or chips, and the only option presented on the menu was to cough-up four bucks for two sides. Since the burger was seven bucks, we were suddenly looking at $ 11.00 to flesh-out one’s sandwich to a more typical meal which suddenly vaults one into the fiscal company of nicer restaurants where the waitstaff remains attentive through the entire meal, and then takes your check up for you. Oddly any non-burger sandwich came with chips, or with a $ 1.50 uptick, fries. The burger itself was good, but the bun was of the«dissolves-in-your-hands variety.» So her meal was a bit of a misfire, albeit juicy and flavorful. With a few tweaks, this place could soar, but the showing was respectable nonetheless.

Well, what we had wasn’t bad: the water was cold, ice finely crushed and the lemon was fresh. Unfortunately that’s as far as we got. The waiter disappeared, never to return. We bailed after 15 minutes. Told the guy who looked like he was in charge we were never waited on and he looked at me like I had three eyes. Been here before and it’s not bad but not good enough that it’s worth waiting forever for.

Killer dogs are wonderful. Huge and delicious is the best way to describe them. Love everything I’ve had there. And prices very reasonable. Only complaint I have is a small one. They advertise breakfast all day but that only includes a very small group of options of there breakfast menu. Disappointing is all. Otherwise wonderful

We have been here many times, only because of the price. I usually hesitate because the service is always grouchy unless u can manage to get the tall girl with dark hair who is wonderful. Today we decided to try breakfast, crepes were cold and swimming in some gross sauce, breakfast burrito was a soft shell taco with a little sausage and egg. When u say dirty spoon… this it is except it was the knives that were caked with some nasty crap. We weren’t able to finish our order because princess personality was in a hurry and walked away before we could say we wanted a side. Super disappointed.

The best thing I can say about this diner is they offer a good value. I had a «killer» dog(coney sauce, cheese, fries, and onions), and when they brought it to the table it looked like a bowl of chili. It was so piled with toppings you couldn’t even see the hot dog underneath — all for $ 3.99. All of the food we had was just ok. Nothing to complain about, but no one would say their food was ‘good’ either. The restaurant was not very busy when we were there, but the service was terribly slow. Not worth a return visit.

the epitome of a dirty spoon. but, still some of the best food around. I’ve been going there since I was in grade school and will continue to go until they close. the atmosphere is the typical hometown diner and the menu is the same. but the quality of the service and the small town feel is exactly what I go for. besides the fact that I’ve never left, unhappy with my food.

Awesome place, mom & pop feel, great service and home style food. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is the wifi is always broken. What’s worse than no wifi? Bad wifi.

Favorite place for lunch and breakfast. Award winning fries almost make you feel like you’re at the fair. Burgers daily specials they all work. My favorite is the Frisco Melt. Breakfast anything you could imagine. The servers are great and work hard to make you happy. If you happen to become a regular they’ll know exactly what you want before you do.

Great diner with great lunch food. Breakfast is popular here, but I think their lunch items(burgers, hot dogs, French fries) are among the best in town. The fries are thin cut and the loaded version are delicious. The meldrums burger is great — simply done but done right. VERY inexpensive especially for the quality of food. This a popular place for retirees but normally you don’t have to wait here. Skip bob Evans and go to meldrums!

While it’s not saying much, compared to the rest of Massillon this is good food. I can see how the higher stars given by other reviewers is possible, when your other choices are fast food and mega-chains, even an attempt to make good food automatically adds another star. Meldrum’s is located in an old Rax building that’s been heavily converted inside.(not exactly for the better through.) Just finding the main entrance was a bit of a challenge, as it’s on the opposite side of the building that you would have expected it to be on. Just like Rax buildings always did, the glass atrium seemed to be significantly hotter then the rest of the building, making dining there extremely uncomfortable for some. It also seems that they peeled the sun coating off the windows, so I ended up going out to the car to grab sunglasses just to be able to eat. The service was somewhat lacking, and was heavily in favor of the large number of regulars there. I was only asked if I wanted a refill on my drink(an Arnold Palmer, which was made with soda fountain lemonade and tasted extremely watered down,) after I was nearly half down with my meal. Even though I had finished the glass off when the food was delivered. I was acknowledged by the waitress when I sat down, but it was a long time before she came back around for my drink order. I noticed that other patrons who were not greeted by first name seem to suffer they same issues with their own waitresses. I had the turkey burger, on a regular bun, with bacon. The fries, and the Bean Soup based on the recipe served at the Senate in Washington DC. The Turkey Burger was sort of nasty. For some reason the meat was mixed with additional spices and possibly even crackers giving it the approximate consistency and taste of meatloaf. Since I prefer turkey burgers these days over beef, this was a huge issue. Doubly so as I can not stand meatloaf in any form. The Bean soup was OK, but not really warm enough. It should have been nuked before serving, or at least kept warm in the pot better. I need to remember for the future that I’m not a fan of that specific recipe anyways, I’ve now had it five times at various locations around the US(including in the Senate building,) and just find it to be nearly tasteless. The fries were in the OK box also, they tasted like they were cooked in soybean oil instead of vegetable oil and definitely needed salt. The good part of the meal though was it’s price. Seriously cheap food! I will grant that perhaps I’m a bit harsh on Meldrum’s. But I also contend that with a few simple changes in service and minor changes in the food could make this place a destination in it’s own right. Up the prices by 10% or so to pay for that and the owners of Meldrum’s would be able to open a second location really soon.

Went to Meldrums for lunch with my mom the other day. She lives in the area and eats there at least four times a week, kid you not. After my meal, I can see why. From the outside the place looks like it used to be something else. The building has a familiar shape but you just can’t place it. I wonder if once upon a time it was Wendy’s or something — remember when they used to have those glass-enclosed garden areas? Well Meldrums has one of those. Anyway, I digress. You can tell this is a local hotspot and that the staff get to know you once you’ve been there a few times. Of course they know my mom. We ordered bowls of chicken noodle soup and I added a coney dog to mine. The menu is extensive and there are lots of options from sandwiches to fish to burgers to soups. Even their hot dog menu comes with options, some named after famous hot dog places(Pinks in LA) and celebrities(Martha Stewart). The soup was all that I could hope for and more — the broth was flavorful, big chunks of chicken and homemade Amish noodles. DELICIOUS. My coney dog was yummy as well. The dog itself was pan fried so it has a nice crisp shell, the bun was not soggy but was warm and soft, the chili was a bit sweet yet a good compliment to the hot dog. I topped mine off with chopped onions and it was tasty. I will definitely be back to Meldrums to try something else.

Best french fries on earth. They still have skin on them, they’re greasy as hell, and they soak up all the malt vinegar and ketchup you can throw on them!
