A lot of people may trash this place but I have never been treated rudely by any employee at this store. In fact, there is and employee named Trish and another named Mickey that go above and beyond to help me. I will not go to the Walmart down the street, they have idiots and rude employees. What I like most about this Kmart is that they always have great items on clearance, especially food and health and beauty aids. I will continue to be a loyal shopper here as long as they are in business.

I have this love hate relationship with this store. On one hand they do offer some really great discounts. The store is not overly crowded or messy. I go about my business without any hassles. I really like their kitchen wares and electronics. Sometimes I find random items that I think I need at a great price, plus it’s a pretty large store and time can go by very quickly when shopping here. Here is the problem, what’s up with all their cashiers? Something always seem to happen where some cashiers come to a complete stop and are looking around for a manager or someone and some of the other cashiers seem like they just don’t know what they are doing. Then the lines start backing up and the check out process feels like its not running at all. Checking out can get a little stressful and annoying. I have a few times abandoned my cart and exited the store because of this. This really could be a good store if it wasn’t for this. I have to say I keep going back because I like shopping here but they really need to help and train the employees. Its like a hit or miss for me. If the lines go really slow and they don’t move I just abandon my cart and leave. I would recommend self check out. I think that would alleviate the problem.

Somebody really needs to put this dinosaur of a business out of its misery. My family goes here from time to time but this place is living in the past. Unlike their competitors, when you try to return something at Kmart they act like you’re trying to steal from them. And then they love to play this game where they tell you that the item was on sale in the meantime for some ridiculously low price. For example my mother once tried to return a 15 dollar shirt and they told her it was on sale for $ 2 and that’s all they would give her back for it. I also tried to return a pair of jeans that they told me were on sale for half price, so basically they stole half my money. They also price their merchandise much higher so they can have«sales» that are actually the same price as or higher than the everyday price of their competitors. For example a 15 dollar pair of shorts in Walmart is $ 35 in Kmart which they put on «sale» for $ 17. I guess they figure their customers are idiots and we dont notice.

Being as succinct as I can here — we went here on a Saturday afternoon and the place seemed completely empty. We picked up what we needed in a few minutes only to find a sea of people waiting at the registers. Only five registers were open, and all five seemed to be staffed by the slowest people in the world. Time spent finding what we needed(about six items): under 5 mins Time spent waiting in line to pay for said items: over 20 mins The mystifying thing is that all the other customers — people who seemingly have never bought anything anywhere else — weren’t bothered about the wait at all, and were absently checking their phones and chatting. Madness. Time spent deciding that Kmart is for emergencies only: 0.1 seconds.

Today my friends and I ventured to the K-Mart after having no luck finding the Magic Cards we wanted at Wal-Mart. Sometimes since the K-Mart seems to get so little business comparatively, we luck out and find the things we need there. The cards were kept in a somewhat out of the way yet front of the store spot, and we saw that four or five premade decks(retail @ around $ 12 dollars) were on a peg for $ 3.98. Target and pretty much every other store would have honored this price because the placement was THEIR mistake, and not just one item was there — it was the ONLY kind of item there. We spoke to a manager who told us we should have cross-referenced the SKU numbers, somehow implying that the misunderstanding was OUR fault. I find this unacceptable, and will probably never shop here again. The only reason I’m giving this store two stars instead of one is because the store clean, organized, and the staff was generally helpful apart from this incident. The Merchandise is «eh», and that’s pretty much the feel of the whole store.

DW loves her bluelight specials, me not so much. I thought the crowd in the Middletown Wal-mart was«eclectic» our trip to the Kmart in Matamoras was most certainly a trip back in time. DW was hoping to get a new wardrobe as I hurried her along through the store. DD was only interested in looking for prospective toys to add to her Xmas wish list. If you ever wondered why 95% of the Kmarts in this country were closed then you only need to take a short jaunt over to the Matamoras location to find out why. Wal-Mart honestly feels like going shopping in Bloomie’s compared to this place. Ugh!
