Went here tonight to grab a couple slices after the gym with my wife. We were both very disappointed in the quality. So much so, that we tossed our second slices and went to McDonald’s(yuck, I know, but we were hungry!) The pizza tasted old and stale. On top of that, we had to remind the kids working to take it out of the oven and it was slightly burnt. The dough tasted like a soggy saltine cracker and literally ripped apart when you picked it up. It was obvious that it was sitting out in the window at least all day. This was the first time I haven’t enjoyed pizza and I definitely won’t be coming back. There are plenty of places within a half mile with great pizza.

My review is based on the pizza. I think the pizza is really good here! The dough had good flavor, there’s perfect amount of sauce and cheese mix is good. Usually as I’m driving home from work and I skipped lunch, I’ll stop in for a quick slice to go. I’d order a slice of specialty pizza, like the cheeseburger or chicken marsala to go and eat it in the car. After it comes out of the oven reheated, it’s crispy on the bottom and oh so delicious! Yesterday I ordered 3 pies for take out to take home and was not disappointed. Ordered a plain, mushroom, and margarita. They really give you a lot of mushroom here. The margarita pizza was delicious. After sitting in the box for close to 30 minutes the pizza was slightly soggy, but after heating it up in the toaster oven it was even better! As far as the restaurant goes, it looks like your usual pizzeria with a long counter with prepared pizza with seating throughout. It’s not a full service restaurant where you get seated by a hostess with served by a waiter. You order your food at the counter, grab your drink in the fridge, and sit down to eat. I can honestly say one of the better pizzerias in the area! The pizza quality here is something I would crave for!

Still a good place, but twice now I have ordered a mushroom pizza and asked if they use fresh mushrooms and they told me yes but they were definitely canned mushrooms. Too much competition in the area to be lying about your food.

I used to love this place. It’s so hit or miss now. We ordered a specialty pie from here over the weekend and it was so cheaply made. If your going to charge $ 20 for a pie, make it worth the customers money. I’ve also tried ordering a kids sized penne vodka to go, and they wouldn’t make it. So i ordered somewhere else locally they were happy to accommodate. Accommodate your guest, is making a tinier portion of pasta really that much of an overstretch for you to do? I see no reason I would return here. Too many other options in the area.

This review is NOT about the food. The food was alright, nothing too special. This review is about the God awful service and the rude jerk owner. First of all, me and my friend went into this restaurant around noon to grab lunch. We stood in front of the counter for more than 5 minutes and the guy behind the counter was busy making pizzas and cleaning and didn’t even acknowledge us. So my friend and I sat down and thought the pizza wasn’t ready yet because we only wanted a slice each. A while later a fat Italian guy approaches us and starts yelling and saying«WHYYOUGUYSSITHERETHISNOTFORFREEIFYOUDONTBUYANYTHINGYOUHAVETOLEAVENOW!» My friend politely explained that we waited in front of the counter and no one came to us and we were planning on eating but thought the food wasn’t ready, so the owner(I’m assuming he’s the owner) responds with«FOODHASBEENREADYFORANHOURWEVEBEENOPENFORHOURGETFOODORLEAVE!» First of all, how dare you talk to a customer like that?! I’m the one paying for your dying restaurant! There’s a hundred other pizza restaurants in the area I’m sure I can easily find a much better one! I ordered a slice of sausage pizza and a bottle of vitamin water and my friend did the same. The pizza was eh, it didn’t really taste fresh out of the oven and considering they’ve only been open for an hour I expected a much more fresh slice. The guy charged us incorrectly and didn’t charge us for one of the drinks so he called us back and had us pay again, but charged us more than the amount of the actual item. When I noticed this I told him and he said he can’t refund us! Why the hell not?! Probably because he doesn’t know how to do his job! Long story short, will definitely NOT be coming back to this dump! There’s a thousand pizza restaurants in New Jersey, more than 5 on Rt 34 and Matawan alone! I’m sure I’ll find one that’s 100 times better. Good job, you’ve lost two customers!

They gave me pizza that was clearly a day or two old. Pizza is no good, some of the sandwiches, wraps and salads are pretty good though, just stay away from the pizza. It’s also pretty expensive.

I’ve ordered take out a bunch of times and have never been disappointed. Pizza is really good, fried calamari is excellent and their grilled chicken garden salad is a favorite that is always fresh. We dined in twice in the last month and the service and food were both excellent. Will definitely continue to frequent this neighborhood favorite!

Love their pizza most of all. You can’t go wrong ordering here. Whatever you have will be great. They are authenic in their recipies and offer some lighter fair as well. Their dining area is a little small but cozy. BYOB as well.

Went on the recommendation of a friend. Fried calamari was fresh and crispy, fried in clean oil which is important. Salad was your average lettuce and tomatoes, not bad. All meals come with warm focaccia bread an olive spread, something different and tasty. Hubby ordered pollo bello pasta, served with grilled chicken, Porto bello mushrooms in a cream sauce, which came out hot and fresh. Ditto for my dolcezza pasta, which is prepared with asparagus, roasted red peppers and grilled chicken in a tomato cream sauce. Wade, our waiter, was attentive without being pushy, which was nice. It’s a low key, neighborhood BYOB place. They have weekday specials for two at $ 19.99 which we will probably try when we go back.

Ate here last night and was supremely unimpressed. My wife and I had focaccia sandwiches that were lackluster. My father and sister both had the lasagna. Niether of them could finish their meals, as they both found the lasagna inedible. I gave them 2 stars becuase we had mussels in hot sauce that was pretty good and I hear the pizza and subs(which can’t be ordered in back half of restaurant are pretty good. The waiter, Wade, was one of the highpoints of the experience.

I have been going here for seven years and have never had bad food — the pizza and subs are fantastic — and reasonably priced. I do like Trattoria pizza better than Denino’s, but Denino’s calamari is much better. My only criticism is that Trattoria’s mussels are not that great though. And it’s next to a Starbucks and I’m not a Starbucks fan, but I’ll let that slide. Maybe location isn’t everything. And the place comes with two old people who sit behind the counter doing nothing, which is a nice touch. You have to have two old people doing nothing in Italian(and Greek for that matter) restaurants. It makes it feel authentic. Well that’s it. Enjoy their food.

Food is awesome and the portions are huge! You get homemade foccacia to start and every meal comes with a salad. Cannot beat the value at this place, and the meals themselves are very creative and tasty.

I had a terrible experience at Trattoria Rustica today. Their food is lackluster to put it gently. I’ve certainly had much better Italian elsewhere. The restaurant would be tolerable if the owner wasn’t such a horrendous human being. I will never return and I’ll be advising my friends and family to do the same.

I have been going to the Trattoria for over 10 years. It is a great place with awesome pizza. It also has a restaurant in the back that serves delicious meals. I strongly recommend the Trattoria Rustica!

Nice little place in a strip mall. Just happen to be in the area and saw this place. Ordered two pepperoni slices and a plain slice. My daughter tried their ravioli and everything we had was nice. I can say this place serves a quality pizza. Will be back!

Have been going here for years– they have a large selection, and can customize something for even the pickiest eater, like my grandma! BYOB& their delish Focaccia bread & olive tapanade they serve the table gets your dinner off to the right start, one of my favorite places to go!

A good Pizza and sub shop in the front and a small Italian specialty restaurant in the back. They serve a large menu with a couple daily specials that i have been enjoying for several years. Prices are reasonable and you can BYOB.
