Adrienne’s Quarters

Ok so I’m just now getting into the Unilocaling thing so please excuse the fact that I haven’t been here since 2005-​ish, but I figured I’d still get the ball rolling and be the first to review.
So I am black with ethnic, tight kinky-​curly hair. I came to Adrienne for my first ever Relaxer and she did an amazing job. My hair took (completely straightened) with only one visit and application and after my wash set and blow out, it was straight as pins without a flyaway in sight.
Now to get to that point a little rough patch had to be overcome. Now I knew coming into this that I would have to get my natural hair cut in order to remove any damaged ends and ensure there wasn’t any dead weight to cause my chemically treated hair to break off, but I must admit I felt like Adrienne went a little scissor happy. I was almost brought to tears because I hadn’t been expecting such a drastic cut. My expected 1to 2 inch trim turned into a 6 – 7 inch cut in the blink of an eye.
Now this is a pro and a con. It shows that there was NOT effective communication between the stylist and myself, but I must admit, Adrienne took the reigns and the end product was a stylish, yet extremely short, cut that went perfectly with my face structure and features.
So basically my point is she knows what she’s doing, but a trim=CHOP.
Now I was a returning customer for almost 2 years and my hair was looking its best, full of body, low maintenance, and all from every-​other week appointments.
Now I did have one rather awkward experience where she «decided» that it would be in my best interest to have a black rinse put in my hair (which is naturally d. brown) and I wasn’t made aware of this until I looked in the mirror (not cool). The worst part of it was that she actually considered charging me for the rinse IHADN’T asked for. Well, let me tell you that wasn’t going down and I was charged only for the services I had requested.
All in all, she does a very good job, but can get a little carried away with her «artistic freedom», if you know what I mean.
4 stars for quality but 3 stars for attentiveness to customer needs brings me to a solid 3.5 rating.
Oh FYI: Her work hours/​days are little limited and she’s a little on the expensive side (that’s the reason I stopped going there, mommy and daddy stopped paying the bills once I got a job).
