1st time stopping in. Well worth it, pork ribs was huge and Mac and cheese was delicious. Finger licking good!

This. Is. The. BEST. BBQ. I’ve. EVER. Had. I had to type like Jayden Smith, sorry, but every word in that sentence needs emphasis. The bbq pork ribs I got were HUGE and out of this world. They were slow cooked fall off of the bone tender. I got 2 sides of the cheesiest Mac and Cheese that was clearly made by a Mac and cheese cob. They unfortunately didn’t have the banana pudding at hand, but they did have a phenomenal peach cobbler. I would gladly get fat eating here. You absolutely get a bang for your buck.

Good BBQ but poor attention to detail. Make sure you watch them prepare your order. While I was there a guy brought his food back because they messed up his order. I get home and sure enough my rib dinner has no sauce. Who wants to eat dry ribs? Had to go back to get sauce and didn’t even get an apology.

I had the pleasure to meet one of the owners of Pit Stop BBQ at a Harvard University event. He told me he had the best BBQ around, hands down. I said«my company has a number of catered events over the summer, so we’ll have to give you a try and see for ourselves!» Let me tell you, he was NOT lying. My company(30+) ordered catering from Pit Stop BBQ and it was far better than anyone would have imagined. Easily some of the best BBQ ribs and chicken that we all have had in a very long time(the best I’ve personally had in Boston). They certainly know how to throw down on the grill. Everything was incredible, from the ribs, to the chicken, to the potato salad(HUGE hit), cornbread(couldn’t have been better) to the super tasty BBQ sauce(consistency was just right). I’m not kidding when I say that everyone was incredibly impressed with the food, coming back for seconds and thirds. Many people brought left overs home. When I came into the office the next day, everyone who brought food home came in and expressed how much the recipients of the leftovers even raved about the food; also calling it the best they’ve had. Definitely wont be the last time that I personally, and we as a company visit Pit Stop BBQ! You’d be crazy to not give it a try — «Just do it» like Nike!

Ok, why would you have a place that sells such delicious food and only open 3 or 4 days a week? It’s truly a shame. In any case, I’ll say that the BBQ is very good. I may not be from the south but I know good food. The place is loud & busy. And who can blame those who crowd it? It’s not like they can go often. They’re not the cheapest but BBQ is not cheap anywhere so I’m not going to make an issue out of that. But my major problem with this place is the location. It’s on a busy street in a questionable area of town with creepy cat calling men. Parking is hard to find and when you have to walk from your car to the place you feel like one of those succulent ribs in front of a hungry crowd. Your customers should feel safe and I can’t say I do.

I’m from down south .The Pit’s food is the next best thing. The service is always with a smile. My favorite is the collards.

Who would have thought great BBQ could be found in the northeast? Pulled pork and mac & cheese were especially good! Indoor seating is limited to 3 tables and 6 total but don’t let that keep you from giving this place a try. Obvious local gem as they had a steady diet of pick up orders. Winner!

The bbq pit was impressive but not the food. We were served tough, cold ribs. Lack of flavored. The sauce was ken sauce which had to much ketchup taste.

Yes, BBQ is extremely subjective. No, this is not a place with a cool vibe and a bunch of carefully selected memorabilia on the walls. No, it’s not a place with warm and fuzzy customer service. However, ITIS a hole in the wall place that has been in the neighborhood making delicious BBQ since I was a kid. If you want BBQ done right and some slammin’ greens, chicken and Mac and cheese, you have to try it. They do run out of some things late at night so keep that in mind. I don’t eat pork or beef(don’t judge me — I’m still a good person who knows good bbq!) so I always get the chicken which is flavorful and perfectly cooked. My hubby gets the pork ribs, beef ribs or the pulled pork sandwich and loves all 3. I get great comfort from watching the old school southern cooks turning and cooking my food on that massive grill/smoker! A must try.

The best BBQ in Boston, period. Be sure to have the pork ribs and brisket! Yes, the location is a bit rough looking, but the people are really nice, the food is excellent and authentic, the sauce is outstanding, and the parking is free. Also,(contrary to what some of the older reviews say) they do accept credit cards. Although they have a couple of stools and a counter, this really is a take out only place.

I gave it another try. When I placed my order over the phone. I was told a slab of ribs were $ 17. With two sides. When I got there the guy at the register said it was $ 37. He was kind of rude when I explained it to him. He just said, well this is the price. I gave him a pass and paid for them. I was with my mom and she went in as I sat in the car. When we got home I was disappointed with the size of the two sides they were very small. Enough for one person. I got the Cajun rice and Cole slaw. They were ok. They ribs were tasty but they were kind of tough. If the service was better I may have enjoyed it more. I don’t think I’ll be going back any time soon. It’ll probably be another 10 years from now. That’s too bad. Because I do like to give our neighborhood restaurants the business.

Awesome brisket and love the side dishes. The line might be long, but it’s well worth the wait.

The pork rib was ok, More fat than meat needed to cook a little longer. The sauce is better to put on the side. So u can add more spice and flavor. The beef rib was not cook. I almost pull out my cap trying to bite the fat and tendon. no meat all bone and fat .The parking lot is kinda shady be careful.

I live close by and tried this for dinner. I got chicken with Mac and cheese, baked beans and corn bread. Also tried the pulled pork with their own sauce. The meats and sauce were delicious. The Mac and cheese was very disappointing as it was over cooked and watery. However, the beans and corn bread was on point.

This place is phenomenal, our cousin was back in town from San Fran so she reccommended this place from when she lived in Newton. We drove from Brighton to pick up and take out. We got a total mix and shared and holy crap, it was all amazing. Pork was fantastic and the brisket just awesome. Seems to be family run, either way great staff, really friendly and helpful, nice vibe. Definitely worth travelling for too!

Wow! Thank you Unilocal for pointing me down Morton St to Pit Stop BBQ. FAR better than the nearby options on Blue Hill Ave. the chopped pork sandwich was chock full of spicy deliciousness. I called in my order and it was ready promptly. Corn bread, ain’t nothing wrong with that! Cash only is understandable given the size of the place. Authentic food, fair prices and generous portions get 5 stars from me every time! You owe it to yourself to try Pit Stop!

If you want to take out bbq, Pit Stop Barbeque is your place! They have bbq and a small location set up for take out. We ordered a whole bunch of items and received plenty of utensils and napkins, and cornbread and supersoft sliced white(and wheat!) bread to share. Cornbread crumbly. Brisket we had to cut ourselves, but the fatty meat was so tender! Beef Ribs huge and a bit tough. Collard Greens the only green option, but I found meat in there.(Note to vegetarians!) Nice bbq sauce. All the sides we tried were good — collard greens, rice, potato salad, yam, baked beans. I’d repeat any of them and particularly the brisket.

Had reasonable expectations on a Friday night, bought a rib dinner and a rack. Combined for a total of one edible rib. The Collards were burnt and old, and the Mac and cheese was fine, but was supposed to be mashed potatoes. I’ll try them one last time before I write them off completely, but this was a waste of $ 27(if quality was acceptable the price would be a huge bargain)

It’s great!!! Best brisket I’ve had! Chopped pork was executed perfectly. Pork ribs also quite good. I’m not crazy about their sauce. Too tangy for me, but it has a nice heat that works. But I don’t think the same sauce works for everything. Get it on the side. I’ll need to teach them how to cook collard greens… or at least how to season them. Don’t get them unless you like funky greens in water. Baked bean were ok. All in all it’s pretty easily the best Q I’ve gotten in MA. Check them out!

I can’t review this place without expletives. This s[expletive} was mutha f[expletive] good. These folks are super nice and kick out the best ribs I’ve had in Boston. Sure, they don’t remove the membrane from the beef ribs, which keeps the meat on the bone. But that’s what you want when you are getting a quarter pound of meat per bone. And they cook it RIGHT. You can taste the flame, the charcoal, the spice, and the love. I got Beef ribs, Pork ribs and Half a Chicken — all three were very good, but the ribs were top notch. I don’t bother with sides on a first visit to a BBQ place. Its all about the meat to me, and these guys do it right. The meat on both ribs tasted incredible. To give you an idea of the size of the beef ribs, I gave a pork bone to my dog, he ate it in 2 minutes. I next gave him a Beef rib bone. An hour and fifteen minutes later he was still working on it. Also, their sauce is great, Tangy and a good kick. I recommend getting it on the side instead of on top. For my credentials, I’ve tried all the«name» places in Boston — Blue Ribbon, Soulfire, Redbones — they have their allure. Soulfire has great sauce. Redbones has great atmosphere and is a fun place to drink and eat BBQ. But I grew up on hole in the wall places that just care about cooking meat right and winning BBQ contests. KC burnt ends. St Lou ribs. North Cacky Lacky pulled pork, pork ribs, etc. …those other places in Boston don’t hold a candle to «the real.» Pit Stop does(so does M&M Ribs, BTW). I’ll go back tomorrow — — YES, TOMORROW — to try the brisket(only available Friday and Saturday and I was ribbing it up on a Thursday night). Cash only. Very small place — bar style seating for three is the only place to eat in. Plan to take it home.
