Love this place, but having a young child we tend to get take out insead of dining in. Unfortunately they have a rule of only taking a limited amount of takeout orders per hour as to not back up the kitchen. Totally understandable, but super inconvenient! To even get on the takeout list you have to call and place your order hours before in the afternoon and hope they have a slot open! We would eat here waaay more often if this wasnt the case. Too bad :-/

I’ve eaten here a dozen or more times over the years, and the food is decent, but it’s not as amazing as a lot of people make it out to be. Always too crowded(reminds me of Olive Garden, another overrated, line-out-the-door local favorite) and the atmosphere isn’t very pleasant – not sure why they can’t just expand to fill up more of that vapid strip mall instead of having people always standing around waiting. The food generally tastes too salty, too sweet, or too something – I think they say they don’t use MSG, but most things have an overbearing flavor reminiscent of MSG. I’ve found most of their dishes to be fairly tasty, but my Japanese wife doesn’t like it at all(she likes authentic Chinese and not so much«fusion» food). Some good textures and flavors to be found, but I’d rather go to Chuancai Fang, Nonla, Rasa Ria or even Wild Ginger on most days. And the fact that they’re not open for lunch on Saturdays is ridiculous and infuriating, this has created very awkward situations for me more than once, because I can’t fathom a popular restaurant that isn’t Jewish or Adventist being closed on a Saturday for lunch and made the same mistake twice.

Just enjoyed a fabulous late lunch at Chin Chin. Food was amazing and had the most wonderful server! Jacob did a fantastic job… friendly, knowledgeable and attentive! Really made our experience top notch!

We love Chinn Chinn’s! So far, we’ve only ever ordered takeout, so I can’t comment on the dining experience other than the interior looks pleasant enough when I walk in to take my food. The Pad Thai is especially delicious, and has had me ordering it time and time again, but they have other dishes that have not been a disappoint, either. I haven’t tried a dessert, but I will be back to try one because they have REAL desserts, not soft serve ice cream like many Asian restaurants(my eye is on the chocolate cake). Their crab rangoons are delicious. My only critique on takeout is that you have to order before 4pm if you want it in time for dinner – if you order at 5−6pm, be prepared to wait until 8pm to pick up dinner. We feed our out-of-town visitors Chinn Chinn’s, and they want it again next time they visit!

This is the best Chinese food in the kzoo area. The place is always packed for a reason. Lots of delicious daily specials but the regular menu items are hard to beat. Everything we’ve had has always been very tasty. Mongolian beef, hibachi chicken, chicken fried rice, pot stickers… all great choices. You won’t be disappointed.

You have to try it yourself. I usually end up ordering something to take home for the next day. It’s that good. My wife and I love it.

Oh Chinn Chinn, how I really wanted to love you. Or even like you a little more than just A-OK. Have been here several times and I can see why this place, quaintly tucked in the small little Mattawan town of Michigan does so well. They do Asian fusion aka Americanized Asian cuisine very well and the flavors are bold, salty, everything you would expect in Asian American fusion foods. Not anywhere nearly as delicious as what their authentic dishes would really be, but good enough for the area. In fact, their dishes reminds me a lot of what you would come to expect from a P.F. Chang’s(and hey, I kinda sorta like the chicken lettuce wraps from P.F. Chang’s). This spot is always packed and busy every single time I’m here and everyone seems to not mind the wait at all. The place is clean, and the service attentive. Even though I’m giving this place 3 stars, I would recommend this to friends that are in the area and will continue to come back once(maybe even twice) a year. I’m definitely super impressed of the family who owns this place and made it a household name for people who live in the surrounding area(I have yet to run in to someone who lives in Kalamazoo that hasn’t either tried or have heard of this place).

Have never been disappointed there and my expectations were validated again when we went there with friends for dinner. The wait was minimal as we just seemed to beat the dinner rush. I’m not going to tell you what time frame, your on your own! Our entrée’s spanned the menu and the appetizer arrived quickly. The food was served as a group and was fresh. That does not always happen in a lot of restaurants and can make a group experience uncomfortable. I’m not a big fan of tasting other peoples plates but if you haven’t tasted something that somebody in your group has ordered and is raving about, don’t turn down an offer at this place, it only adds to a good experience. Worth the drive and worth the wait!!!

was honestly quite disappointed with the food here, especially considering all the great word-of-mouth reviews heard here. We got the home style bean curd, chicken lollipops, and chicken & waffles. everything was way too heavy on the salt and grease, and about $ 5 more per dish than it should be. this was all after a one hour wait. next time we find ourselves with a hankering for Asian fusion in Mattawan, we’re definitely heading to nonla instead.

I’ve ate here for lunch and dinner, more than once, and I’m still waiting for that WOW meal that makes the wait worth it! Everything is run of the mill, nothing spectacular, and I’m not sure what the buzz is all about. Nothing is bad, but nothing seems to meet the hype and prices. Service is mediocre and if you have questions about something on the menu the server becomes very condescending, like«how stupid can you be to not know what that is». No real complaints about food quality, it’s more the attitude and service that gives this two stars.

Fantastic place! You cannot go wrong! Consistently awesome! Pork taco special was delicious this trip through. A jewel in Mattawan perfect to break up the trip to Chicago. My son actually licked the plate when he finished his Mongolian beef. That is the absolute truth.

Have heard a lot of good comments about this place. So the opportunity came up tonight to dine there. Service was good, prices were ??. I ordered Kung Pao chicken and ate about a third of it. Asked for container to take home; waiter took my plate end returned a 1⁄3 or less of what I had left on my plate. 2 dinners, a lot of leftovers, $ 60+ tab and hardly any leftovers. Doubtful I would go back. Container should be brought to the customer to put leftovers into. Would have been decent if I had my 2 – 3 meals of leftovers instead of 1. Disappointing to say the least

Chinn Chinn is truly a hidden gem. Unless you are a local, you probably never knew that it existed. And why would you? Mattawan isn’t exactly a destination. Chances are you probably just got off I-94 to stop for gas. But if you are hungry and tired of the fast food joints, head north a little ways, look for the little strip mall on your right, and then look for a parking space. Chances are the lot will be mostly full. Chinn Chinn is small inside. There is a bar of sorts just to the right of the door but no seats. As my husband learned during our most recent visit, you can order a drink and stand at the bar while you wait to be seated. The bartender was doubling as another server and was apparently an expert at multitasking. She appeared out of nowhere to ask if we wanted a drink, gave my husband a taste of a beer on tap, poured more tasters for other patrons, and talked about her favorite pumpkin beers, all without breaking stride. Once you sit down, you may also have to wait a while for your food. That was fine with us but may not fly if you are in a hurry. It’s not that service was slow-in fact, our server was cheerful and kept our drinks filled. We think it’s more the kitchen getting overwhelmed. The kitchen opens to the dining room so you can see the activity first-hand. Once our food came, we thought it was excellent. The leftovers even tasted good the next day. On the downside, Chinn Chinn doesn’t open until 3:00 on Saturdays, a fact we learned the hard way. Also given the small dining room, you are often sitting on top of your neighbor. But overall it is a surprisingly good place for an eclectic meal, somewhat off the beaten path.

Tip: p Play cool music that blends in with the environment. Classic rock is not cool Asian restaurant music. Food: Don’t like all the rules. They offer 5 different flavors of lollipops but you have to choose only 1. They won’t let you mix it up. That’s no fun. The lollipops are delicious. The fried potstickers were awesome. Wife got Mee Fun. It was very bland.

How can you not love Chin Chin? The food is very good and they are very concerned that their quality stay high — thus the lines for take out and eat in. We came on a Sunday for lunch and learned that there is a free garlic noodle appetizer as a customer appreciation on Sunday’s — a very nice surprise! We couldn’t agree on what to get so we decided to get the pu pu platter to start with and then split the Mongolian Chicken. Everything on the pu pu was amazing and we really couldn’t decide what was our favorite(consistent with the prior times we’ve had it) and the main course was delicious. Having arrived at an odd time we were seated immediately and our server was prompt, attentive and very helpful. Obviously we’ll be returning and haut know it’s well worth the wait. Just remember while you’re waiting you can always ask the to text you while your waiting and have a cocktail at Main Street right next door.

Chinn Chinn is good, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t possibly understand why I have to order 3 hours in advance to get food. I love the spicy prawn… it’s awesome! My husband loves the broccoli beef and cashew chicken. I’m a big fan, but it would be nice to be able to get food there on a whim.

Chinn Chinn is one of my top 10 restaurants. I consider myself a foodie and I have traveled the world but always look forward to Chinn Chinn. The lunch is fantasic and really reasonably priced. There is a choice of entrée with sides for $ 10. I always have food to take home. I have been adventurous with the menu and loved every dish I ate. The only downside to this restaurant is the wait. Be patient… it is worth it!

This was our first experience at Chinn Chinn. We got here at about 4:30pm, we were seated by 5:30pm and we ordered by 5:45pm… Our dinner came at 7:30pm! The waiter was real nice and kept apologizing and apart from the free fried chips they give we also got a little portion of something called cool garlic noodles. By the time the food came my stomach had eaten half of itself… The food was yummy. We ordered vegetable pad Thai, vegetable chow mein, kung pao shrimp and Mongolian shrimp. They were all tasty and good portions. We like our food spicy but because of the kids we ordered the sambal sauce on the side. I would have given the restaurant 5 stars but the wait was horrible! Especially with 3 kids…
