Collins Cleaners At Matthews

I was a loyal customer to Collins Cleaners. I have a lot of dry cleaning, and usually spend $ 50/​month. I used Collins at Idlewild and was satisfied with their cleaning and tailoring.
They shredded my favorite shirt the last service. I was told it ripped on the dry cleaning machine. I was told the owner would be on touch and would refund me for the shirt.
After two weeks of trying to get in touch with Patrick the owner and never receiving a call, I spoke with his daughter. I offered to accept a $ 25 credit for the 5 year old shirt. It was originally bought in Barcelona for € 150 or $ 200. In used condition these are selling on Ebay for $ 30.
Having again not been contacted by management I expected the credit to show on my next visit.
The manager on duty told me no credit was showing, nor should I expect one. She also denied they were at fault for the physical shedding of the shirt, as they would not have serviced this type of delicate shirt on the machine without taking care to put in in a delicate bag.
This was in direct contradiction to the story I initially received as to how the damage occurred.
I feel I was lied to, denied current market value for my damaged clothing, and as a customer disrespected. I took my clothes off the counter, which would have amounted to much more in dry cleaning fees than I was seeking in retribution, my future business, my pride, and left.
BEWARE. They are sweet as pie but don’t care about their customers.
They lost $ 600 a year from me because they wouldn’t offer $ 25 dollars in store credit for a shirt that they destroyed.

Typical cleaner set up here, but the folks are super friendly and are familiar with the area… it was actually the first time I didn’t have to spell out my street name since they were already familiar with it.
There are two 5-​min spaces right in front and the only obstacle you need to dodge are people coming in and out of the Harris Teeter next door.
I never really bring my clothes in for a «rush» cleaning, but it seems like they ship the clothes out to the cleaning facility and then ship them back. Plan accordingly.

I have used Collins Cleaners for about three years. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good quality cleaning service.
I spent many years using a variety of dry cleaners around Charlotte, always to end up disappointed. I’ve had countless burned shirts, lost clothes and broken buttons with other cleaners. Never have I run into these issues with Collins.
Patrick has been fantastic to work with. When I lost my job, he was willing to dry-​clean clothes for interviews (for free). Although I didn’t need to take them up in the offer, I really appreciated knowing that I was dealing with a company that cared about me as a customer.
