The Matthews Community Center was once the first public school in Matthews. After a huge resotration effort, the community center was born… and includes Matthews Playhouse.
A very nice setup with comfortable seating with great views of the stage. The prices are quite reasonable and they have some very entertaining shows worth going to see.

A true gem of a local venue for musical and theater performances.
Supported by the local community.
The original building was built in 1907 and was called Matthews school.
It was grades 1 to 12.
I went the 1st through six grade here and have many fond memories attached to this building.
Kudos to the local community for supporting the local arts and preventing the wrecker ball from bringing it down.
