Point Blank Range

This range is great on so many levels! It is a new facility and it is beautiful! You can tell they will take great care of this property.
My first visit was back in December. I was super nervous about stepping foot into a shooting facility… it has the potential to be very intimidating. My reason for visiting was my new found interest in hand guns/​pistols.
The first place I stopped was the gun counter right inside the front door. I spoke to the ranger and explained that I was a newbie and new very little knowledge about guns or their operation. He assured me that I was in a safe place, with great people, who would show me what I needed to do to have a fun and safe first shooting experience.
I viewed an 8 minute safety video and was off to the range to select which pistols that I wanted to try. I was looking for a good fit for my future first purchase.
I believe they had 20 shooting lanes. The cost was $ 20 per shooter for an all day pass, $ 20 to rent handguns of the same caliber, and $ 10 to upgrade to any caliber. Ammo for the 9 mm was about $ 17 a box (which is a little steep), and ear and eye wear was $ 1 each. Targets were around $ 1 each. By the time it was all said and done with … I had spent right at $ 100 on my first visit because I was having such a great time pumping through the ammo.
This place is good for all people. I saw teens shooting pistols, grandmas shooting Assault Rifles, women and men of all ages shooting hand guns and shotguns.
After the initial shock and thrill of my first experience, I became more comfortable in the environment. All of the Rangers are SUPER NICE, highly trained, and always willing to offer advice if asked. The 2 that come to mind first are Stacie and John.
The range offers classes and individual instruction on many levels and at several price points.
After saying all this, I feel like a regular now… just after a few visits. Much more confident than in my fist visit.
The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 lies in the service I received when I asked to purchase a Glock 19. I apparently hit the place after the Christmas Rush. They were sold out. I visited on a Monday night… and the guy who helped me told me to stop in between 10 – 4 to speak with the guy who does the ordering.
So, I did just that. When i spoke with the guy about ordering… he basically said bluntly that he would not be doing a special order for my inquiry because it’s such a popular gun. He said that he would get around to ordering a replenishment stock and that I could check back in a month or two to see if they had come in.
I was really wanting to do business with the range that I had had such great service with. I took his response as, «we don’t really need your business that bad… sorry». I continued to look at other options… and a few minutes later, he revisited me at the counter and apologized for coming off as harsh and that he didn’t mean it that way. I felt a little better about the experience after that.
He could have probably kept my business by saying something like…
«Hey man, I’m so sorry that we are sold out. I have ordered several Glock 19’s. They should be in within a month or so. I believe that they are on back order. If you would like, I would be happy to take your information (and maybe a deposit) to secure one for you when they come in».
If it were handled that way, Point Blank would not have lost a $ 600+ sale. No big deal really, I just went down to Hyatt Coin and Gun and picked up what I needed.
All in all, there were no hard feelings. I really love Point Blank and will continue to shoot there on a regular basis.

Outstanding… professional, clean, helpful, not intimidating at all. I’ve asked for help on the range and they have been outstanding… even oiled my pistol for me one time! Sales… I was about to buy a cleaning kit, and they brought me a better (less expensive recommendation). Took a lesson once, and it was very well done. All around great place… doing it right!

Have visited on a few occasions, glad to have nearby. Stayed of the art facility, good quantity of shooting lanes and rental guns. Have been very pleased with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff — a strong statement considering I’ve spoken at length with five different folks, at different times/​visits and they have maintained very good consistency

Drew is very knowledgable and staff very friendly. I did have to have my background run to pickup my pistol I had cleaned. A little strange but I understand as there was not a formal procedure established when it was dropped off. Range is by far the best I’ve ever been to. While at the counter I did notice a man lay down a loaded 1911, no case, which made me a bit uncomfortable. I assumed it had been checked however there was a round in the chamber as I later saw him confronted at another counter, pistol was taken and emptied in the range. Great way to make a point and handle the situation. Range officer came out and said we now have a cleared firearm. Good for him. Unfortunately these folks are everywhere, ideally we could catch them at the door. No question as time passes this range will take over the Matthews area.

Place is amazing. The staff are awesome. Weekends are busy so people will need to be patient. Can’t wait to shoot there again.

This will be the easiest review I have ever written. Me and my buddy Neil and my 11-​year-​old son walked in to this and newly opened establishment and couldn’t have been more blown away (no pun intended)
At first glance we noticed the huge selection of Galco Holsters they had there. What really stood out next was Steve one of the firearm salesman he was very knowledgeable and extremely professional and very patient as my 11-​year-​old son asked him about every gun from his video game. Their prices were better than Gander Mountain and the staff 150% nicer and easier to talk to then the staff at firepower. I’m looking forward to doing all my firearm purchases and all my range time here.
