The Goddard School

We just moved our two kids over to Goddard Matthews from another chain.
I love the staff. You always get greeted at the door as you come in, all of the teachers acknowledge the kids even if they are in a different class. The teachers are in good moods all day, the kids are always busy, and the tricycle rally was so fun for my little ones. The facility is clean, tucked back, not next to apartments which always weirds me out a bit.
Wish they offered meals and wish there was a covered drop off area where you can get the kids out when it is raining.
The staff is well lead, the director is kind and honest, the owners love the school, it’s a great, non-​elitist, comfortable place to teach your kids.

Being a first time mom I had a very difficult time choosing the best care for my son once I returned to work. He was only 3 months old when he started and had a very smooth transition. Goddard has been amazing, they send me pics throughout the week which makes me feel good knowing he’s doing well. The teachers are so sweet and truly care for the kids. They are so flexible and are always addressing any concerns I may have and I feel like they coparent with my husband and I. As my son grows and develops new skills they help ensure he excels and gets the proper time to continue to do well and enhance his new abilities. Even though he’s only a few months old they still expose him to so much, they read to him all the time and they even do arts and crafts. All my friends talk about how advanced he is and I honestly believe it’s because of the wonderful teachers at Goddard. Our family is blessed to be a part of the Goddard family!

My family recently moved to NC from Colorado and we’re looking for the perfect school for our 2 year old. We are so happy to find the Goddard school in Matthews, NC. The school is great. The facility is clean and very organized. The staff is stellar making our experience wonderful. We are so grateful for this school.

I can’t say enough about the people here! With the online portal I can see everyday that my daughter is learning and participating in a new activity. We came from another facility that was rated five stars but had such a bad experience the rating doesn’t mean much. These people actually live up to the expectations. We have felt welcomed and involved from day one and my daughter loves all her caregivers. Our transition was easy as a result. So glad we moved her to this facility.

The Goddard School in Matthews is clean, caring, attentive, and educational. I believe our son learns a lot from the school, gets the attention he needs, and also has fun.
We receive daily reports by email that details what he did for the day. We can see how much he has progressed as he communicates and plays with us. He enjoys the events they occasionally have like water day, picnics at the playground, etc…
The teachers are great. They listen and work with us to help our son out. He has been potty training the last few weeks and they have been very helpful. They get to know us quickly and worked with us on some of the quirks that we have.
It is a little bit expensive, but in our case it is cheaper. Lunches are not included, but are a separate add on. We have always packed our son’s lunch, so for us it was perfect. We didn’t know there were child care centers that did that. It saved us some money than having to pay for lunches we never used.

I had to go back to work (I am a teacher) after bring home with my newborn for 8 weeks. Of course I was terrified to have anyone watch her besides me!
My daughter was welcomed with open arms by her teachers. After the first day fears, I quickly felt very comfortable and knew she was in good hands. The teachers in the infant room were great! I don’t know how they handled all of those babies, but they do! And they seem to really care about all of them!
I was always informed about her day, what she was learning, and if she needed anything! It was cute that even at such a young age, they even did art! I would recommend them to anyone… especially with a newborn since that was my experience!

Love this location. Owners are great. Teachers are, too. Goddard places heavy emphasis on academics so they can be kind of… stern environments. This one is warm and loving, but doesn’t sacrifice the high learning standards. Highly recommend!!!

Pros: My 3 year old kid goes here and likes it. I really like the teachers. It’s clean and, again the teachers are great so overall it gets high marks from me. He can count to 20, knows his abc’s, can spell his name, likes his friends, and has a lot of fun. I often wonder if he’d know this stuff if it’d been just up to me to teach him (probably not).
Cons: Cost — it’s high and if you have more than one kid it’s REALLY high. They do not provide lunch (you have to pack it everyday) and for the cost you’d think they would provide it. Also, the goddard school literature seems to promise, or at least promise to provide you with a lot more than we’ve gotten relative to academics — particularly languages (e.g., spanish). That’s never been taught as far as I know — maybe it will be when he moves up to the classes for older kids. Also, this one has no internet cams which would be so great but is not to be and I don’t think that’s changing anytime soon. Finally, parking can be tough during peak pick-​up and drop off times.
Bottom line: Having said all that, the most important thing is that we trust them with our precious child and we do. No amount of Spanish can make up fo that. Highly recommended.
