The name says it all, an artisanal cheese shop nestled in the cozy town of Mattituck. While waiting for a table at a local brunch spot across the street we decided to stop by while wandering the town in the meantime. Upon entering the store I was initially slightly intimidated by the large variety of imported cheeses and the owners conversing in fluent French with customers, however they made us feel right at home! We were given complimentary tastings of any cheese we asked for and the owner was extremely attentive and informative. While this was one of the most expensive waits for a table I’ve ever experienced we ended up coming home with a fabulous selection of blues, bries, goudas, and cheddars. Two of the more interesting and noteworthy cheeses we took home were the truffled brie(the BEST brie I’ve ever had) and coffee infused gouda(sounds strange, but amazing).

This cheese shop is heaven! The staff are experts, and they have everything you could need for h’orderves or a picnic at a local winery. I appreciated the suggestions that the staff made and that paper plates, knives, and napkins were available to go. There is also seating available inside if you choose to dine in.

I spent 5 hours walking all over Greenwich Village looking for the village cheese shop, there is no such entity. Someone told me he is located at the very end, Eastern End of New York out on the Island, who goes there? Goyem, So I rented a car and drove to the shop in L.I., the man who greets me with a French accent, he is a Winemaker I know from France, not a cheese maker, and I did not see one piece of cheese. So I insulted this man and left,

What goes with wine? — CHEESE …and look at this cheese shop in the middle of Long Island Wine Country!!! AWESOME! In this quaint little town of beautiful Mattituck lies what has to be the best cheese shop this side of the east river — Ahh… No place else can I get this outrageously delicious smoky bleu cheese that I swear angels make! YUM!!! With a wonderful array of cheeses from all over, if they don’t have the exact cheese you are looking for, the staff is extremely knowledgeable about cheese and can find you the perfect alternative. This is a MUST stop for the picnic that you will be having later in the day at the wineries. There is a little sitting section in the attached solarium as well, perfect spot to share some fondue!

This place has some of the best cheeses I have ever tasted. If you only like blue cheese when its on food because the taste is overwhelming try the huntsman. It’s blue cheese sandwiched between cheddar cheese(so good!). If you like cheese with truffle then truffle tremor is a great choice. They also have a creamier goat cheese with truffle as well that is to die for(sorry can’t remember the name). We also got a local raspberry jam they had that we ended up putting on every single cheese and cracker. Simply outstanding!

Great shop filled with a pretty good variety of cheeses from all over the world. They also have a few pastries like scones and rugelach(yum!!) and such as well as other things such as crackers, jams, spreads, honey, etc. Their prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and helpful. Definately a great place to stop by an enjoy some of their selections in their sunroom or a quick stop to pick some up to go to the vineyards.

Excellent cheese shop w a serious array of cheeses from around the world as well as local boutique choices. From obscure to popular. Perfect stop before heading onto the wine trail to create a picnic to accompany all that wine tasting! Charcuterie, fresh local breads, crackers, jams, spreads, olives, anchovies, chocolates, honey etc. Knowledgable staff. Helpful but slightly reserved. Street parking.

Visited on the most gorgeous summer evening after wine tasting. The shop was well stocked and had a fair variety of cheeses on deck. However I was in shock over them not having any«Krafitelli» at the time of my visit. Was impressed by the selection but at a slight disappointment lacking such preferred taste.

What an adorable cheese shop :) The staff was friendly and very willing to sample cheeses with us, they weren’t stingy like other cheese shops can be. We enjoyed the aged Manchego and 5 year aged Gouda, as well as the traditional Swiss fondue with bread and apples(the serving for two was very large, so go there hungry). We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will be back next time we’re in the area!

You’ll find all sorts of delicious things in this lovely little cheese shop. It’s a very cute little place tucked into the line of small town shops and restaurants of Love Lane, a beautiful little street. Inside, you’ll find no shortage of cheeses. So many types it is hard to choose at first, but the friendly staff will help you find exactly what you’re looking for and which is your cup of tea. Speaking of tea, the store also have a nice coffee and tea section(Illy coffee, Harney and Sons tea! etc.) There are also lots of general culinary goods to go with your cheeses, so it makes for a great little shopping trip. They have a nice little seating area to sit down and enjoy your little treats. Oh and by the way, don’t walk out without picking up one of Aldo’s legendary scones that he makes in his shop in Greenport. You won’t regret it!

I absolutely love this cheese shop. The staff is very welcoming, knowledgable, and helpful. I think it’s such an added plus that it is as adorable with seating. On the way out, we were offered napkins, plates, forks/knives for our cheese to go. I thought it was such a thoughtful and wonderful gesture. I’ll have some more cheeeeese pleeeeaaase! :)

Stumbled across the Village Cheese Shop while driving through town in Mattituck. It’s appearance from the outside is quaint and inviting, inside, it reminded me of farmer market –type places from my college days in rural PA. The selection of cheeses was vast. I’m not an expert, but the prices seemed pretty reasonable as well, and most were priced by the ½ lb. This ranged from about 6 dollars for a ½ lb to 14 – 15 dollars. Well placed placards indicated the cheese origin, ingredients, type, etc., so even a novice could walk in and get a general sense of what they were getting into. There’s a small seating area too, and a list of different meats(i.e. pancetta). Cheese lovers could definitely spend an afternoon here sampling, and taking in the complex aromas. The people behind the counter were friendly, and the samples were pretty delicious. If you’re a fan of fromage, there’s really no reason not to stop in and take a look.

Went to this adorable, quaint shop for lunch and had their brie and fig grilled cheese. Absolutely amazing. It comes with a crisp, fresh side salad that is perfectly dressed with a simple vinaigrette of lemon, olive oil, sea salt and pepper. Absolutely worth the trip!

If you are a cheese lover, then you will love this place. They have it all, from mild to bizarre and ammoniated! The staff are great and will help you find what you are looking food. They aren’t cheap, but given the quality of the products they cannot be. One of my favorite items is the foie gras pâté. The Le Delice De Bourgogne is a fantastic cheese. This makes a great stop on your trip to the wineries. Check them out!

Cute little place and the person who rang my purchases was very friendly. They have a unique collection of pantry goods to choose from. Looking forward to trying the cookies made in Italy(saving them for a rainy day since they don’t expire for another few months). The scones were very burnt on the bottom and I wouldn’t recommend refrigerating them for the next day but would give them another try.

One of the few places(or only place) on this cute little street in this cute town that has coffee and pastries(mostly scones). There isn’t much seating inside so it would be best to take your snacks to go as your stroll around the neighborhood or wait for a table at Love Lane. It was too early in the morning for cheese but the selection seems extensive for the size of the shop.

Ohhhhh my goodness, the Village Cheese Shop. Cheeses crafted with care, creamy and crumbly, I wish I lived closer to sample more of their tasty wares. The cheeses are all labelled with details like the location, milk type, age, and a mini critique on what its like and how it is prepared. The staff is equally knowledgeable and cheese crazed, listening to your tastes and returning with suggestions and samples to tickle your tongue. Perry and I took a few ounces of the Triple cream Aged Gouda Morbier I am a fan of the creamy, less aged cheeses like Brie or goat’s milk. The triple cream was like eating pure, delicious fat. It was decadent. It was sinful. It was messy. It was absolutely glorious. The Morbier was similarly tasty and creamy, but had a consistency closer to a melty mozz and was fabulous with the crackers we had. Perry enjoyed the aged gouda, eating the entire block single handedly and with abandon. If it interests you, there are about 10 seats in a sunroom if you want to enjoy on the spot. The also offer coffee and tea, bread and crackers, and cheese accessories. The store is rather stinky(in that cheesy way), so opting for a cheese tasting picnic is my recommended way to enjoy.
