Derek at tropictures is the real deal. Unlike those wanna be photographers, Derek has quality cameras that will capture the moment. No joke.
I took a surfing lesson with Jay (it was my first time surfing) and I have to admit I was scared! (yup I’m a scary cat) but in the end I had lots of fun! And… it feels great to have awesome pictures of these beautiful fun moments!
I highly recommend not only to try surfing lessons with Jay but also to get the pictures to prove you surfed in Maui!!! You will not regret it! I know I didn’t. Go on, be adventurous!

I took a surfing class at Island Style Adventures Surf School and Tropictures was there to capture every moment. My wife and I are so happy we bought the pictures. Months later we looking at our pictures and can see how much fun we had. It feels like we back in the water. Derek was our photographer and I cant say enough about his photos. There is no way you can capture what he did on a iPhone. I love the pictures of my wife and I catching some waves. He got pictures of us together. He was able to capture the best moments. My favorite was of us wiping out. They were awesome.
Ray was our instructor. I can’t believe how patient he was with all of us. Everyone was tired and ready to stop but I wanted to keep on going. He could see that I wanted to catch more waves. He told me I could stay out as long as I wanted and I did.
What an experience… and I have the pictures to prove it. Worth every penny.

While vacationing in Maui, HI, I took a surf lesson to kill 2 birds with 1 stone: learn to surf while checking off a bucket list item (surf Hawaii). He captured my 1^st surfing experience from the instructions before getting in the water to my surfing the Maui sets. He didn’t only catch my good rides, he made sure he shot the wipeouts too! That made for some good laughs and it was tastefully done.
I was impressed with the picture quality, the variety of shots along with the surprising number of photos taken. I’ve come to learn that the company’s services span beyond just the surf school by checking out the website.
I recommend TROPICTURES for all of your photography needs on the Hawaiian Islands. This company provides high quality photos with no pressure during the shoot and does so at a very reasonable rate.
