We visited this place during restaurant week and thought it was great. I hesitated trying the artichoke dip since it’s been done so many times and places, but it really was delicious and different! Their martinis are well-crafted and original. I am looking forward to our next visit.

For someone who’s been an ardent fan of this place for a couple years now, I’m sad to say I’m incredibly disappointed in it lately. Used to be they treated every customer with attentiveness, respect and kindness. Well, not so any more. This time we had reservations and, although we were there and seated on time(with water already at the table, thank God!), it was more than 15 minutes before someone came to our table to take a drink order. And, the service went downhill from there. There appeared to be many hostesses, but we never had an official server even identified for our table. We had to flag someone down each time we needed/wanted anything. We ordered the fish tacos, which came with a side. All of the sides she recited were potatoes, and for those with blood sugar problems, these are not an option. One guest at our table asked if they had a vegetable, and we were told that carrots were the vegetable tonight. He ordered those, but found out 9later that he was charged $ 2 additional for the carrots(which amounted to 1 carrot, cut into 4 pieces) even though a side came with the meal. It wouldn’t have been so bad, had he been informed of this at the time he ordered. This, coupled with the fact that we had to hunt down a server THREETIMES during our dinner,(once to get a 2nd drink, once to get the lemons we requested for our water a half hr earlier, and once to get the bill) makes this a place we won’t be visiting again soon. Very sad, because we take people out frequently, and this used to be a favorite. The service and pretentious attitudes of the servers made this a ‘No go to’ place in our book. Even worse, because we brought new customers with us tonight, and they were just as disappointed.

Excellent service !(Even brought my cell phone out to the parking lot after having left it at the table). We arrived at 5pm and the place was hopping. Salmon caesar salad and porto wrap were tasty and full of flavor. The drink selection and vibe makes it a great place for couples, or groups of friends. Only wish they had more tables for wheelchair folks.

Ultra pretentious. We came by to see the musician featured this evening, as we follow her career. When we entered, a couple was just leaving the bar. We were prepared to take those seats to order some drinks when one of the waitresses told us that we could not sit there because someone had reservations. For the bar. There was no one waiting for the seats. It was our first and last time there. How disappointing!

Great place! Neat atmosphere. Really nice staff. Hidden gem in a strip mall off of 475. Wings were phenomenal. Cucumber bacon tomato salad was solid, good flavors. Good beer menu. Definitely want to try this place again. Nice crowd for a Monday night

Great food, great atmosphere, and great service! I would ignore any negative reviews and try this place yourself! We ordered the truffle fries, wings, BL tacos, and the chicken strips. It was all delicious and cooked perfect! We will definitely be back. If we had to complain about something it would be the size of the high top table. It’s way to small for two people. Other than that our visit was perfect!!! Thanks for the great experience!

This place had outstanding service. I was in Toledo for a couple days, and I sent a message to the business letting them know I would be with about 15 people for drinks before a dinner. They had an entire section set aside for us. The beer and drink selection as perfect, and the few appetizers we ordered were delicious. I would recommend this establishment to anyone.

If you’re going to get fries pay the extra $ 3 for the white truffle oil — it is amazing. The staff is professional, friendly, and quick. The drink menu and food menu changes regularly to follow the seasons and trends. Never disappoints

Give it five stars. Sure. Why not? Give it 100 stars, what does it really matter? Miss people who care a lot about food? Miss people who care a lot about music? Go to BPH. It’s only about 20% of the way to where it could be, but, «Hey», that’s further than anyplace within a 200 mile radius. Work with it. Enjoy!

Food doesn’t seem to be consistent at all nor does the bartending. Last two times we were there a female bartender made us feel like we not important and talked to us like we have never ordered a cocktail before. My sister lives right behind Churchills so we really want to like this place but I think we are finally giving up.

We only came here for drinks last week, but the place seems super cool. Drinks were good and atmosphere is very trendy. Bartender wasn’t the most friendly at all, but she wasn’t the worst. I’ll come back the next time I’m in town. Maybe we can eat next time!

Been here a few times won’t go back. The service has never been great but this last time it was appalling. My husband and I went on a Monday evening and the place was not at all busy maybe 15 people at best. Right away we got a glass of ice water, the service ends there. We then waited about 5 minutes for the bartender to finish his conversation only to become impatient and interrupt him to let him know we were ready to order drinks. We ordered a premixed margarita flight. We waited another five minutes then we were finally told that the girl at the front bar was pouring our drinks. One full glass of ice water later we have each had two glasses of ice water and still no drinks. Needless to say we left. It also didn’t help that we sat down next to a ridiculously annoying man talking so everyone could hear how important he though he was.(you know the type!) Worst experience I’ve had at a bar/restaurant in quite some time!

Best lemon drop martini ever! I love ladies night and Jim Filipiak! Another great night at BPH! The mushroom crostinis should be a permanent addition to the menu.

This is a smaller place you can have an intimate meal or a drink. There is a front section with a Bar, larger tall top table and a few other places to sit and a rear area with more seating. They had acoustic guitar playing which was nice. The menu has some basics and fancier meals as well. I wasn’t that hungry which is so rare, I sometimes eat two meals at lunch or home since I run and workout, so I had the 2 marinaded and baked chicken wings. It was $ 8 and you received 6 rather large wings. If I was hungry it would never have been enough as it didn’t come with a side. The food quality was good, but after reading the menus description I was expecting it to be better. Still some good wings. The Blue Cheese dressing was very good. I tasted a few bites of someones fries and chips they had with their meal and they were good. They said their food was good too. The highlight of the meal was the beer. They have a large craft beer list and the porter I had(Eugene…from Chicago) was very good. Watch the prices on the beers, many are near $ 10 and some over that each. Its ok as long as bring a pile of money if you intend to try a bunch of them. But they are craft beer. I am not a fan of restaurants in plazas typically unless its Asian noodles or something like is common in LA area, but I think this is a private establishment and I liked the atmosphere. I think the environment makes me want to either have intellectual discussion and would be a great place for a more romantic meal, but i think you can come with friends and just relax too. Worth a try.

Atmosphere was inviting, service was very helpful, accommodating and informative. Great smiles from the all the servers(we encountered 3 staff members) Good assortment of beer and wines. We had the sweet potato fries as an appetizer which were amazing! The maple glaze dip I couldn’t get enough of. My husband had the fruit and nut salad which was great especially with the lemon vinaigrette but was disappointed by the amount of candied cashews and lack of goat cheese. I had the white chicken chile and side salad and this pairing was also delicious! Very filling. We plan to make additional visits!

Great gem. Driving from Chicago and pulled into the area around 10:15PM. Kitchen is open late and the food was great! Awesome burgers and wings, try the cookie dough pop! My wife’s salad was great as well!

We recently returned to Barr’s Public House for restaurant week and were left scratching our heads: why the heck don’t we make the trek across town for this more often? We started out with the smoked salmon dip which had big chunks of smoked fish integrated into what I would guess was some kind of creamy cucumber/dill blend. It was fantastic. The contrast of the cool, savory dip base and the smoky salmon meant that it didn’t last long. Next up was a straightforward salad featuring a basil vinaigrette that was at turns sweet and sour, but never cloying. Finally, the fish tacos, which featured cumin infused crème-fraiche, a pepper salsa, rice, and grilled blackened Mahi. That they were served ready-to-assemble(«deconstructed» for you Food Network viewers) was a kind gesture on the off-chance that we might find one of the elements disagreeable, which we did not. They were filling but didn’t put us in a food coma. The fresh lime wedge tied everything together. It made me feel like summer was a real possibility. A glass of wine and a craft brew later(a tangerine wheat not unlike Oberon) and we were on our way. We’re looking forward to returning for the Prohibition themed cocktail menu. I’ve always been intrigued by drinks featuring egg whites and Barr’s offers them in spades. Now if they would only open another location downtown…

Nothing but good things to say about this place. I come through Toledo occasionally for work and had found a few places I really like so it took something to get me to give a new place a shot. Luckily I came across the Unilocal reviews tonight and decided to drop in, and I’m glad I did. This place is tucked away in an unassuming little strip mall but the inside is great, 2 bars, hip and cool yet classy décor. I love the smaller tables, bar seating options and couch/chair options with chess boards on the tables. Great selection of craft beers, both on draft and in bottles and they offer flights of 4, 5 or 6 choices. I ordered the hummus and a salad w/salmon, both were very good. Nikki was a very friendly bartender in the front bar and I can happily say this is now a 4th solid option when I’m in town.
