Many years ago, just after graduating college, I splurged and purchased a blue blazer with monogrammed gold buttons from a very nice menswear store in Troy, Michigan. Since then I have transferred the buttons to each of the blue blazers I have owned, so you can imagine how upset I was when my current blazer came back from the dry cleaner with one of the front buttons missing and they could not find it anywhere. Luckily, I went online and found that The Custom Shop not only offers an incredible selection of blazer buttons covering practically every interest you could have or group to which might belong. And you don’t even have to buy an entire set so I decided to order two new front buttons, so they would be sure to match, but just keep the sleeve buttons I already have. Although I stuck with monograms for now, I was very tempted to switch to something else in the future like lacrosse sticks, golf clubs or a heraldic symbol or some sort. Once I placed my order through their website it got even better. They called me to confirm that I truly only meant to order two buttons and didn’t think I was ordering a complete set. After that, they placed my order and I had them delivered in less than two weeks. The buttons look awesome and match my previous ones perfectly. Now my blue blazer is back in service and I look forward to keeping these buttons in use for many more years!

Several years ago, the original Custom Shop, a national chain that manufactured custom-made men’s shirts and had stores in malls and other locations around the country, went out of business. However, «The Custom Shop» in Toledo, Ohio bought the name and the marketing rights to The Custom Shop, including use of the logo. They also secured some of the old Custom Shop salespeople, such as Jim Steffani. Unfortunately, the quality of the merchandise and the customer service, in my experience, are EXTREMELY poor. In fact, I feel like I have been totally ripped off by them. Out of the eight shirts I had made for me by them, two are defective. I also had a suit made for me by them, and even though it was returned for re-work several times, it still is not a great fit. Finally, I also ordered two pair of pants, but when I saw how poor the workmanship on the shirts and the suit were, I attempted to cancel the order for the pants. The Custom Shop ignored my request to cancel the order for the pants, even though I tried to cancel the order within days of submitting it. Then, when the pants arrived many weeks later, they were extremely poorly done — entirely too short! I returned the pants and demanded my money back, but they have not even deigned to reply. Jim Steffani has promised more times that I can remember that the Customer Service Manager and the President of the company are going to write or call, but they never have. I’ve called and written countless times, to no avail. This establishment has been absolutely awful to me. The quality of the merchandise and the level of service are severely wanting.
