Maunaloa General Store

Has the basic groceries I need, including a some organic products. I was surprised by the selection since I wasn’t sure it was open from the outside and the town has a lot of businesses that have been shut down. I’m really glad this store exists on this side of the island since otherwise you would have to drive a good half hour to 45 minutes to reach a grocery store.

Having been to a bunch of stores on the island already and experiencing the lackadaisical attitude of the staff (just the way it is here), this place was a great surprise. It was super-​clean, extremely well stocked and the woman behind the counter was nothing short of extremely pleasant and welcoming. This place beats the Friendly Market hands down, and even though Friendly does have a better selection, you’d be surprised just how many choices are here and how clean and well-​organized they are. Prices were good too, especially for Molokai. Very, very pleased with this place.

This is my favorite store on the island because of its cleanliness and genuinely great hospitality. They care a nice selection of items and go out of their way to also provide a few specialty items on occasion such as gluten free crackers and sugar free items. It has an old country store feel and the friendliness of the owners and staff makes me a huge fan!

There are not very many stores in this area, so this general store is important. I only visited it once, but they had what I needed.
I bought a green bell pepper for $ 1.49, an onion for $.30 and a 750 ml bottle of vodka for $ 38 for a friend. The vodka seemed a little pricey, but they didn’t have the cheap stuff.
The woman working behind the counter was very friendly and she engaged me in some conversation. She happened to go to high school in the city where I was born.
I visited right when they were about to close at 6 p.m. Nonetheless, they didn’t tell me to hurry or rush me.
For a remote place on an undeveloped island, this store is good and it has a variety of products that residents and visitors might find useful.

Beautiful plantation style building and very clean and spacious aisles. Good assortment of stuff for a small town and perhaps the only store on the west side of Molokai.
