Great deck across from the Deschutes River. Fried chicken sandwich was excellent. Spring salad with grilled chicken was very fresh with homemade green goddess dressing.

What a gem in central Oregon. I love the roasted beet salad with a side of grilled chicken. Specials are always tasty. Save room for homemade cheesecake!

Sunday night 8pm… your hungry… where you going to go for great food? Riverside! Fried chicken sandwich is to die for. Great people working, food outstanding. Very clean and excellent outside seating. Best option in town. Great selection of beers on tap, steaks salads etc.

We were here 2 years ago and did not have a pleasant experience. Fast forward to October 2015; we did not realize it was re-established, but when we walked in we could tell immediately something was different. Maybe it was the delicious eclectic fare, african curry soup with peanuts and bananas and the perfectly grilled steak bites, or the laid back deck over looking the Deschutes. We will be coming back tonight after swinging some flies. Looking forward to the prime rib and some mac n cheese.

My boyfriend and I went white water rafting on the Deschutes in the morning and stopped in the Riverside for lunch before heading home. It was the perfect meal after a harrowing day on the river. Our server MacKenzie was extremely sweet and efficient and gave great recommendations. We each had the steak bites and a side(aka kids portion) of mac and cheese and YUM! MacKenzie recommended in the future we try mixing the mac and cheese and the steak bites, so we’ll definitely be heading back for that… and to try their other awesome-looking food!

Absolute worst dining experience. I know the options are limited in this town, but large groups should be something most of the local restaurants are used to, since tourism seems to be a big driver to the local economy. This place really did not have it’s act together from the beginning. Our expectations really weren’t that high at the outset and we were okay with a little higher prices for basic American fare. However, when asked how we wanted burgers cooked, most said medium to well. All but 1 burger out of 6 came back raw in the middle. The Yakisoba noodles were destroyed by massive amounts of fish sauce and the chicken was horribly dry. Two in of our party actually got sick. When the meals arrived, they completely forgot 4 people who ordered and the rest of us were long finished with our meals by the time the others received their food. The restaurant did offer to waive the burger charges, but no manager ever came out to talk to us, leaving the poor waitress to take on all of the concerns. The waitress asked how we were paying before we ordered and told her we had 4 people paying for the group and whose meals it would cover. She took 2 cards and charged one with 2 meals and the other with the balance. Look, I get it. Large groups are tough and I’m sure everyone there was working hard. It’s probably difficult to staff a restaurant in a town of only 400, but this was a Monday and not terribly busy. Entire situation could have been handled much differently. Definitely should see about changing cooks, or being more attentive to their cooking. A really disappointing end to an otherwise perfect day rafting.

Had dinner recently at the newly opened Riverside. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and seemed to be enjoying themselves. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and it was exceptional! Everyone in our group was pleased with the food and service, the chicken fried steak was yummy too, I snuck a bite from my sons plate. I only wish Maupin was closer so I could eat at the Riverside regularly. Highly recommend!

Went to Maupin for a couple days of R&R, and to go see some music at a new place in Maupin. It appears that most of the meats are made with a Traeger grill, which makes the place smell great. Tried the salad rolls with peanut sauce. Super good, and tasted fresh. Had the rib special, and the meat was perfect. The other side we had was the fingerling smashed potatoes. I didn’t know what to expect, but they turned out great cause they weren’t a fried with batter type of thing. Would definitely go back, was great having music in the back area. The staff all seemed like they got along, and that makes things welcoming, cause in small tourist towns, that can be a challenge. I hope this place makes it through the off season and continues to be a perfect alternative to the Rainbow.
