I ordered takeout from here this evening. I Got a steak & cheese and an order of cheddar bacon ranch fries. The steak and cheese was pretty good. The bun was very fresh and it tasted like a bun from National Bakery. The fries were very soggy. This may have been because they were in a Styrofoam box and there was condensation. It ruined the fries, I think if I ate them their or if I lived closer, they would have been fine. Also, the ranch seasoning was a bit overpowering. Next time, I’ll only get ranch dressing on the side. Overall, I’d say the food was pretty good and prices were fair. I’ll come back eventually, but being in Mayfield, it is kind of far for hoagies.

I don’t think you will find a better sub shop anywhere. I also don’t think you could eat a whole sub. The half sub is huge and puts their competition to shame. The rolls are great. The prices are more than reasonable. They also have great salads. We have picked up food there many times and never been disappointed. It’s not really intended to be an «eat in» place, although they have a few tables. Try it, I bet you will like it. If you have any special requests I bet they will do their best to accommodate you. Great sandwiches and very friendly & helpful staff. I am glad they are in my neighborhood.

After Grace’s Hoagies closed, I thought I’d never find a good steak and cheese hoagie again. Then I discovered this place(and I have no idea how I missed it before). The hoagies are HUGE(just like Grace’s were) — a large is two feet long. The prices are really decent and the food itself is high quality and delicious. I love the California steak and cheese! I’ve had a few variations of the turkey hoagies as well, and I’ve always been impressed. Even though the main draw is the hoagies, the appetizers are good, too, but not nearly as amazing as the hoagies. I love that you can order online — it makes life so much easier. You definitely can’t stop by and eat in, since the inside is so small, and there’s not a lot of waiting room if you don’t order ahead. However, this is probably the best hoagie shop in NEPA. Try it at least once!

I heard people talk about this place. I was not impressed. It’s located in a old dirty looking building with no room inside to stand in line let alone eat in there. Yes they do have 2 foot hoagie on National Bakery french bread so they don’t bake their own bread on site. The open view kitchen is very dirty and run down. What’s worse is that the girl making the hoagies did not wear gloves or a hair net or hat. In fact only one guy on the grill wore gloves and he never changed them once the whole 40 minutes I watched waiting for 2 hoagies! The guys wore everyday dirty hoodie sweatshirts while working with the food. Not very appealing. The turkey meat was very dry even with mayo on it. I needed a drink after every bite to get it down. The cheesesteak was very bland with almost no fried onions and peppers on it. I will not return. It’s overrated.

I’ve never had a bad experience at Steve & Irene’s. I have always gotten hoagies from here, because that’s what they are famous for, but this time I ordered buffalo wings, and they were amazing! The sauce had the perfect amount of spice, they were nice and crispy but still meaty. I have had a lunch & learn at work catered by Steve & Irene’s and everyone raved over it!(They hadn’t heard of Steve & Irene’s before that) Their prices are great and the service is quick! I highly recommend Steve & Irene’s for any day you feel like breaking your diet, or have a lot of mouths to feed!

Steve and Irene’s is best known for their cheesesteaks, and they don’t disappoint. Their Polish cheese steak with the potato pancakes and sour cream might sound a little different, but it goes together better than I expected. They also have really good Pittsburgh style cheesesteaks with fries and a spicy ranch sauce. Another thing that I like about this place is their monthly specials that change every month as they have some interesting new menu items every month.

My favorite hoagie shop in the world. They make the best tuna hoagie EVAR and I have had them all over the place. They’re super fast too and cheap.

Great food for a great price! Service is usually very friendly and attentive for a hole in her wall sandwich shop. I highly recommend the Pittsburgh hoagie!!! Absolutely delicious.

Can never go wrong with their hoagies. Always fresh and filling. The Italian is a classic. When you call or go in to order, ask or look for the chalkboard on the wall that features new or special items.

I stopped by based on a glowing review in a Scranton newspaper. The subs are good. Not exceptional. You won’t be sorry you ate here, but you won’t be doing cartwheels, either.
