This hidden gem is literally hidden by Citgo Gas Station. The small restaurant is attached to the Gas Station but has it own entrance on the 1st Avenue side. Great selection of single Mexican food items and also dinners. Prices are inexpensive and service is fast. I ordered the steak taco dinner which came with 3 tacos, rice and beans(see picture). I have no complaints about my dinner. The specialty hot sauce that comes on the side in a small container is very hot but delicious. I will definitely be stopping back in to try something else off the menu in the near future.

I love this place. I go once a week and either get the soup or burrito. Their house hot sauce is fantastic and their guacamole is spicy.

Best carnitas in the Chicagoland area. Be sure to call ahead though the line can get long. Also bring cash, or you will have to use the ATM machine there.

I stopped in here today as I had fasted for a medical test and was very hungry! I tried a Carnitas taco. I had never had one before, but was surprised. It’s pork, pork fat, and fried pork skins. .. my first impression I remember being ‘wow, this is disgusting(not being used to it,) but I love it! It’s greasy, decadent, indulgent, rich, flavorful, and not for those with high cholesterol, but as a once in a while treat, I can dig it!‘ I also tried the asada burrito with everything, which was good and I just finished after nibbling on it most of the day. Will be back when my arteries can take more ;) The best in the area!

I’ve tried the steak, al pastor, and carnitas tacos($ 1.69 each). Enjoyed all of them. The business is attached to a citgo gas station(!). I went there at lunchtime on a weekday, fairly busy with people behind and ahead of me in line. Service was prompt. Definitely curious about trying their original location.

This 5 rating was a lay up for this place. If your’e here and have room in your tummy –you have arrived. Anyway. Got in the car and headed south towards 26th st. –Los Gallos bound. Who in the hell puts a carnitas place in a Citgo? Obviously someone with big balls and vision. Don Alfredo? Man, I know this dude. This is the place that has places next to each other a few blocks away, all of them packed. Bust a U-wee, and I’m thinking… this place has gots to be good. Gas station caldo? Citgo carnitas? 26th st is all of a sudden too far. On the specials poster board they had higado encebollado tacos, ok… one of those, a mixed carnita taco, and phucket… roll the dice on the caldo de res(beef soup, liver and onions, and whole hog). Holy shit brudda! this is the equivalent of walking down a side street in Mexico and eating at a loncheria that caters to the working man. Absolutely ducking felicious. I’ve heard that there are illicit drug pills that can induce ejaculation just from one being on them and letting shower water hit them. Now you don’t get it, I know –but this is the taco and«Mexican fix» equivalent. Fat, skin, stomach, pulled pork in one taco, liver seared just right with caramel onions in another, bowl of soup with perfectly cooked veggies, well marbled and soft ass beef with no hint of artificial flavor. All this with the convenience and comedy of a corner gas station. ITISPERFECT. If I was single and this place had breasts’s I would ask for its hand in marriage. This is easily one of Chicago’s best, and one more reason why you should be scared to even think about opening a place and serving food that is less than perfect… because perfection does exist.

Don’t let the location inside a gas station fool you… this is good Mexican food(not Italian as listed). Very fresh ingredients and tasty food. Prices are reasonable. If you’re looking for some good, fast Mexican, this is your place.
