Julius Barber Shop is definitely a mixed bag. The owner leases the chairs to independent haircutting contractors and of course the quality varies. There are two ladies with glasses who cut hair but they don’t speak English these are generally the best stylists in the outfit. One lady is young and the other is old and generally there is a long line of people waiting for them. Another guy who is great is Peter, he is the only American in the place and he is a young experienced and highly qualified barber you recognize him because he is tattooed and he brings his vast professional portfolio of styles to Julius barbershop. If some of you find him familiar you will remember that he formerly worked at Maywood Barber Lounge and his quality is pretty good. The haircut is about eleven to eighteen dollars excluding tip. I do enjoy when the two ladies do the straight razor on the back with warm shaving cream. It is very relaxing. Peter does the straight razor good also. The cons: if you are unfamiliar with the place you will assume all hairstylists are the same and you well get your hair cut by a clown. By the time you find out who knows how to cut hair you will find out that your out several dollars. Also stay away or get out of your chair and forget about the haircut if the hairstylists starts talking on the phone while he/she is cutting your hair or if they stop and start watching the TV. This means they are distracted and are about to destroy your hair. I know this from experience. Most of the hairstylists excluding, Peter, are H1B1 visas from Mexico so don’t think your going to talk to them about Salvador Dali or Van Goh paintings or about JavaScript let alone synergy or leadership dynamics because they don’t speak english. However dont let that be a setback. If your looking for a great fade then this is the place.

You can’t go wrong with any of the barbers here. I personally like going to the same person, but I have had to cut my hair by other barbers on occasion and I have 0 regrets or complaints. The one thing that you must know before you come here is that you will have to wait at least 40 minutes for you to get your haircut. There are some barbers that have zero wait, but for the most part those aren’t your number one choice. I have actually left before because the wait is unbearable. They don’t have AC and they typically don’t have anything good on TV so it makes it difficult to sit there and wait for a long time. BUT they do put a lot of care and effort into their work and the finished product is an example of that. The price of a fade/tapper + line up with cost you $ 12 – 13. If you want to schedule a session ahead of time they have a sign that says they charge $ 20. I don’t know exactly what that means so if you want to inquire about that then please enlighten me when you figure out why or what they charge $ 20 for. Note: There is only 1 male barber(Javier I believe) and the rest are women.
