Las Trancas

The food is worth 5 stars, but the server deserves 2 stars at best. So unfriendly, this is our second time waited on by her, she’s the tall, skinnier one. No customer service skills and if you pay by credit card she’ll remind you about the tip. Since when are you obligated to leave a tip especially for bad service…

I’ve lived in Maywood for 16 years and I had never visited this place. So glad the hubby decided to bring us here. The food is great (I felt like I was eating a real mexican home cooked meal) the drinks are great (the micheladas… awesome). Service is great and the waitress was super friendly. Will be becoming here more often.
Please note they close early during the week, hence we went to La Tequila right down the street because they close at 4 (PLEASE DON’T GO TO THAT PLACE (LA TEQUILA) IT IS TERRIBLE!!!)

Love it here ! This is a wonderful Family owned restaurant This family is kind, United & Very Humble. The food is fresh & so good ! because they just Love what they do. I have tried many dishes and so far they’re all good ! I don’t even have a favorite. I can honestly say that I highly recommend this place & the Banquet Hall is excellent

I came here with family to eat lunch. Ordered the camarones al mojo de ago. Drenched in butter… Where was the garlic? So flavor less. The service was horrible as well. Took them 40 min to serve my dad (he just ordered a soup). Don’t think I would be coming back ever again

We came here after someone recommend to come and eat here. This place is really good and the staff is very friendly.

Best way to describe the food is microwaveable food. No flavor. Bland. The restaurant was empty. Never again… Prices are cheap though. So to sum it up, you get what you pay for.

One of my favorite places!!! Food Network has been here shooting a new show. I love seeing this awesome family owned establishment getting this kind of recognition.

I love Las Trancas! The food is delicious and the banquet hall is so beautiful it’s very hidden, and unfortunately not very known, but spread the word the prices are reasonable and it’s very elegant!

Las trancas is one of the best and most authentic food places you can get anywhere in Los Angeles this place is amazing the service is great and the food is great and the plates are extremely elegant, also the banquet facility is amazing and the event coordinator here is outstanding in every way

Place was pretty good. We ate outside on a super hot day so I was not helping to the meal. Everything was extremely hot. The glass table was hot, the seats, and the food. Food was fine though. The constant chips and salsa was great. I had the enchilada and taco combo dish. Got the chicken enchilada and beef taco. Beef taco was great. Chicken enchilada was great. Rice and beans pretty good. I also got to try this fish soup that I’ve never had before. It was alright. Kinda weird but alright. Overall it was scorching hot outside and we were just trying to get cooler.

This place is DEAD.
But the food is really cheap and nice. I think for people working around this area like my friend does it’s a great place to have lunch. I think I paid like $ 6 for my lunch and I was full after that. So come here and try this out.

Horrible food to salty to full of flavor I had the menudo wasn’t cleaned right and gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Me and my family were all sick all day because of that. Micheladas are not all that great either and to pricey for the amount of food and service is not all that.

What a great family owned Resturant. Conveniently located in the heart of Maywood just minutes from our office! Delicious seafood and Mexican classics always served with a smile! Try the chicken or beef fajitas! Awesome! I’ve been coming here for years and will continue for years to come!

This place should close down already. Sad, nasty, out of date service and the food taste days old. Never again shall I go eat there. Yuk yuk and yuk!!!

25 years my family has been coming here and it’s the high quality Mexican food that keeps me coming back. I only speak for my self when I say that this is the best chile verde this side of the border. The meat is always tender and fresh. The seafood is excellent I recommend the mojarra al mojo de ajo. I see some negative reviews from people that question Las trancas’ cleanliness and to that I can only say that this restaurant has held an A rating from the LA county health inspector since it opened, That I’m sure is verifiable. Don’t listen to the haters give it a try.

I came here Sunday afternoon with my parents after 15 years and oh boy was I surprised! The food quality has gone down hill. My dad ordered a lengua wet burrito covered in red sauce and the meat seemed old! My mom had a seafood soup with shrimp and octopus and it ONLY had 4 freaking shrimp!!! The soup had no taste! She had to put a lot of salt, lemon, onion & cilantro so that it could be decent. The bf had a carne asada wet burrito in green sauce and it was the only good thing. I of course wasnt hungry so I had a piña coloda and it was the worst one I ever had. It seemed like it was just a bit of alcohol with ice. It had no flavor what so ever.. .to tell you that the freaking coke soda and agua fresca de horchata didnt even taste like its supposed too. Talk about the drinks being watered down! Ughhhh!. .waste of money. Never again will we be back.. .

I’ve never heard of the city Maywood until we decided to come here for my co-​workers birthday. The place is actually in a nice location. It also has a banquet hall where they hosts events and weddings. Interesting concept! All I can imagine is the Mariachi band playing away with salsa dancers in the background.
The menu offers a variety of authentic Mexican dishes and I was excited to be eating here. I decided to try a seafood dish since I’ve tried enchiladas, burritos, quesadillas, and huevos. Why not since I love seafood? I ordered a shrimp plate ($ 10.95) and a horchata ($ 1.95). Our coworkers pre ordered our food so when we arrived, our orders were ready. Probably not the best idea because our food was cold…
The shrimp plate was nicely organized and looked appetizing, but it really wasn’t. Dish always came with soup which was bland. Shrimp was just shrimp… I’m paying 10+ dollars for a plate of 4 – 5 pieces of shrimp? No way! Total ripoff. I could make the same dish for ¼ of the price and it’d taste better.
I’d knock down more stars here, but I won’t for two reasons: their horchata and their tacos/​burritos. Their horchata was delicious and sweet. Also, my coworkers commented on their orders. I also saw myself how delicious the wet burrito looked. Their burrito was huge and great portion size, I just don’t understand what happened with their seafood dishes. I have a feeling that I’ll be coming here again, but I swear I’m never getting their seafood EVER!
Didn’t get a chance to interact with the servers much, but they were helpful: took our photos for us and provided plates and spoons. But this leads me to question: What about a free birthday goodie to celebrate the birthday customers? It really would be nice to offer a small cake or a Mexican dessert…

My son & I stopped in after a trip to L.A. and it was worth the drive. The food was outstanding and the service was even better.
We ordered the burrito and taco plate and it came back exactly as we ordered. The service was great, the staff was extremely friendly and the food was delicious !!
I highly recommend.

I’ve lived around the area for more than 15 yrs now and this is a spot that my family and I use to visit frequently. Their food is pretty good. not so much the seafood, but the rest is decent. The only dish that I love to order is the Wet Chicken Burrito. My taste buds go crazy every time I have it.
The place is kept clean. They have a patio filled with tables and chairs where you can sit on a nice sunny day and enjoy the sun.
In regards to their customer service, it’s not the greatest, especially during lunch hour and when you have «higher class» looking people. I remember there were a couple of times that I had to wait at least 20 mins after eating to get my bill because they were all to busy attending others. I get it, you’re busy, but not even an acknowledgement or a smile to say «we’ll be right with you» after passing through my table at least 5 times and seeing that I was just sitting there like d*mb a**, hence my times going to this restaurant have decrease.
Now I go to Gloria’s restaurant for my Mexican food fix. Not the greatest customer service either but damn their food is delicious!
