Paper Moon Books & Beyond

This is a great book, curio, and other ecelectic stuff shop. Staff/​owner very helpful, they usually have good music playing, and the building is great. They have a good collection of children’s books and out of the ordinary toys. Worth a stop!

I recently found myself in McGregor, IA and came upon Paper Moon. Walking in the front door, the theme of Mad Men was playing and I felt immediately at home. The selection of books and gifts is outstanding. In the age of being able to getting anything you want online, there is huge value shopping at a store that has hand-​selected the best of best. And not only that, but Paper Moon merchandises the books in a way that’s extremely fun to browse. And like any good shop, the owners were helpful, kind and funny. Paper Moon exemplifies the reason to shop local. It’s not just buying a book or a fun gift, it’s an experience. It makes McGregor a destination and I look forward to the next time we visit.

I love this store! It is probably one of my favorite bookstores in Iowa… the selection of books is terrific and the staff have great suggestions. All genres are well represented and if you don’t find what you are looking for, ask… they will order you the specific book you want. The children’s books are unique and great to peruse when looking for a literary baby shower gift. In addition to being a great bookstore, there are fabulous, funny, quirky, stylish and fun gifts to delight you. We always stop at the Paper Moon when we visit the area. This small store has a great reputation and has even been mentioned in Publisher’s Weekly & the New York Times! McGregor, you have a destination shop that any community would be proud to have!

Paper Moon was a huge part of my childhood. My grandparents lived in McGregor, and so I spent many summers walking the streets here. I loved Paper Moon, and still do. They have all the knick-​knacks that a girl would die for. There is the practical, the atypical, and the humorous. Who wouldn’t want some cucumber mint ‘lip shit’ (chapstick)?! And I’ve always loved their jewelry.
This family boutique is teeming with style. It is a must stop location for the area. Don’t forget to pet the kitties that are roaming the shelves.
