If you’ve ever been gem mining in NC, this feels the same but only 1 hour away from Richmond! I took my 7 year old son for a little day trip. We bought one $ 60 bucket which includes a free cut. The buckets are salted but that guarantees that we’ll find something and keeps it fun and interesting. The people working are super friendly, knowledgeable and down to earth. I let my son choose the cut and he chose to have a bloodstone cut. We stayed about 2 hours. It was definitely a great little half day trip!
