I’ve put together multiple stereos for myself and for my friends over the past couple years with Deja Vu Audio. They have some amazing gear ranging from the fairly modest to the extremely high end, such as Western Electric and Audio Note products. Vu and Bart were very helpful and enthusiastic even when some of my projects had a limited budget. I had some problems with receiving damaged equipment during shipping but they took care of working it out with the carrier. They even sent me a loaner amp for a damaged Audio Note integrated amp I bought. If you’re into audio this is the place to go. It’s not the in-your-face, high power, mega bass audio like a lot of hi-fi companies push, but real music appreciation that doesn’t get old.

Deja Vu is old school on steroids. Come here to see and especially hear top audio gear. There are only a few true audiophile shops in the world that not only carry the best gear for your ears, they also host it in a completely unique manner. One is in McLean Virginia, it is called Deja Vu. Make a point to talk to the staff, especially Vu. This place is a true gem. Vu offers both top lines and reasonably priced audiophile gear. For instance, I have obtained some extraordinary Parasound Z line gear that I could not be happier with — but I have also had Vu sell me more expensive higher end gear. I still have my eyes on the AudioNote tube gear… but the budget will not currently allow for that. …Someday. Few people understand what they sell as well as the staff at this little place in McLean VA. Climb aboard if you are tired at mass produced junk and want real audio gear.

Beware. This company took my money and never finished my project. I will post an update if they ever respond to my request to complete the project.

A wall of sound. A cave of wonders! It’s hard to write a review for a place like this because my experience is contingent on not only the music I demo equipment on, but also the staff and the selection. But one opinion shouldn’t affect my opinion of the other, should it? I’ll try to stick to the place itself, not the metaphysical trip I took to Diana Krall’s studio performance of «Little girl blue» via Stax SR007s. Deja Vu Audio is an audiophile store, run by a family of audiophiles. Which is arguably the most friendly atmosphere you could encounter. Father and son work side by side, and by side hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of audio equipment. Aside from the dizzying price tags, the owner was very personable. We talked about tube amp topology, monoblocks, turntable components, and raw clams(they have a salt-water tank in their store). It was a slow day, sure, but he wasn’t in a rush to sell me anything. He knew by my ratty chucks that I was in way over my head… but still let me indulge in his $ 500,000 demo room. My god. I’m about to trail off. The majority of their equpment includes tube pre-amps, amps, top loading CD players, DACs, and speakers. They carry 2 models of Stax Headphones, the $ 3000+ ones naturally. The brand selection is top-of-the-line, a lot of AudioNote equipment can be demo’d here. I was mostly interested in turntables; they carry Music Hall 7.1(as their entry level), ClearAudio Emolution, and then the roof breaks open and you find yourself staring at a linear tracking arm with a price tag bigger than your car. Of course, you can find some old old gems here. Mountains of vinyl records to listen to. Monoblocks from times of yore suffering an overpopulation of vacuum tubes. Thorens that your parents could probably identify. And if you don’t know what any of that means, you can ask them… they’ll explain… and no one will point and laugh. For all of you who have no idea why Hi-Fi matters and have been satisfied with listening from your ipod or computer card, avoid this place. Run away and forget this review. Hug your wallet and whisper«I love you». For the rest of you who wonder if your music could sound more alive, the vocals more articulate, the bass more full or lush; I implore you to spend one saturday afternoon at Deja Vu Audio. You’re listening experience will never be the same. p.s. It also helps if you have a couple grand to throw down. ~_^
