A short distance from their billboard sign along Main St, Ball Hickory Pit Bar-B-Q is a perfect place for taking the family out for BBQ. My firm favorites are the smoked pork ribs and pulled pork.(I do not care for their style of beef brisket, which is typically my favorite BBQ item.) But if it’s your first time here, order a combo plate so you can decide for yourself. Ball’s has a great ‘pickle-pepper & relish bar’ that includes onion and variety of pickles, important items for making a pulled pork sandwich complete. If you aren’t too stuffed, they also offer a selection of fruit cobblers at a must-get price. Plus 55-cent ice cream cones or scoops to top your cobbler. The ice cream isn’t as creamy smooth as I prefer for the calorie intake, but refreshing on a hot day. I’ve yet to find any BBQ in the McAlester area that is better than Ball’s.

Thoroughly enjoyed the pulled pork plate. Excellent cole slaw and the baked beams were just right. Definitely go for the hot BBQ sauce. Tremendous meal off the beaten path. You’ll be glad you did.

The best BBQ I’ve had. I had pork ribs, and they were delicious.

Real Oklahoma stlye BBQ: smoked and sliced with sauce on the side. I recommend getting the low carb plate with hot BBQ sauce.

Was not a good choice for me, did not enjoy at all. Would not recommend to my BBQ friends. Jerry

The place was packed for lunch, and the food was being pumped out as fast as possible. I wouldnt call it fast food but i would say its a respectable cross between the hometown restauraunt and a good bbq joint. I had a pork sandwich that was good.

I stumbled across Balls while lost on old route 69. It’s back off the main road pretty much by itself. I loved the old brick smoker in the back. They have a lot of choices and everything I had was really good. My only gripe, was they plastered my combo plate in sauce! I didn’t know until I got back to my hotel. The sauce is really good, mind you, but I want to taste the meat as well. Now I’m going to have to drag my fat ass back over there and get another combo plate — with scrumptious sides — plus more of the soft, moist hot buns, and condiments from the self serve bar, and bring it back to my hotel(Happy Days Hotel… Awesome!), Damn my life sucks! I’m thinking an extra star is in the works, but I’m holding out until I can taste the meat unadulterated with their home-made, and very tasty, sauce.

this place is out of the way but it has been around for over 30 yrs. and worth look for, service is friendly and helpful, the Bar-b-q is good. we never been thier before so we had a little of everything. sliced & chopped beef, ham, truckey, hot links, sausage and Rib’s. I am not a big fan of cold slaw but I have to say there’s was pretty good and the Bar-B-Q sauce they make there own they have mild, hot & Ex-hot. the Hot was rigth on the money! I love my Bar-B-Q and they do a good job at Ball’s. we will be back.
