Pops is a retired physical therapist that picked up different techniques of lymphatic, deep tissue, pressure point, and«sedative» massage — which he loves to talk about! He’s been around since 1995 and a family friend recommended him when I kept complaining of migraines and I was stressing out right before I took my MCAT(med school entrance) exam. I was a little bit skeptical about the massage office being based in his home, but I immediately felt comfortable when I was met by his kids hanging out in the living room. There was a separate bathroom for me to undress in and it was neat that I could keep on/take off whatever is comfortable. The full benefit comes with exposed skin to work on and it wasn’t my first massage, so I was fine in just my undergarments. I laid face down on the massage table and he knocked to ask if I was ready. I appreciated that his technique was always mindful to making sure I was always covered with as little as necessary to be exposed. Pressure was well handled and he can always accommodate based on your comfort level and if you flex as a defense — he’ll know to ease up. From the tension in my neck and shoulders, to a head massage that I didn’t know could feel so great, arms and legs, hands and feet, it was an overall great experience. His physical therapy background gives expertise on specific muscle groups and he likes to talk about different insertions when he’s working on a section. Pretty interesting because he’ll advise on different kinds of stretches when you’re at work to reduce tension build up. Really cool. The music was soothing and light was dim — I think I must’ve fallen asleep from how relaxed I was. He’s gone over the hour some times when a few knots in my back require a little extra attention. He’ll end with a glass of water to rehydrate after. I’ve gone back multiple times and I’m never disappointed. My migraines are nearly non existent now and whenever I notice my stress building up tension in my neck, I know where to go. Pops is a funny and professional personality. Highly recommend. He works by appointment only and he’s been really flexible when I have to push back a day or so. He can also come to your house and set up shop if that’s easier.
