Very nice rest stop on the way to and from Asheville. Restrooms are clean and there are several vending machines(cash only).

I always stop here on the way to Asheville when driving west from the Raleigh area. It is one of the nicest rest stops on Interstate 40. As you exit the highway, you go up a small incline and will see a new rest top with picnic tables and plenty of parking. The restrooms are very clean and there are maps and posters with NC area highlights. There is also a little creek with running water outside and it is very soothing. In addition to the rest stop in Johnson County on the way to the beach(eastbound), this is one of the best places to stop and take a break.

This is the best rest area location I have ever been. Bathrooms were totally clean in the grounds were meticulously kept up. Must rest areas I have been to all of the highway are dirty and kind of gross especially the bathroom but this place was awesome. I hope they keep it up and maintain it like it looks now because I will recommend any trucker or driver along this route to stop there.

It’s a rest area. They maintain it well and keep it clean(at least the men’s room). Some picnic tables with shelters above them. Vending machines for food BUT one them has apples, oranges, yogurt etc in it. Never seen that in a rest area before. Bumping it up to five stars because of that.

This is one of the better visitor centers I’ve ever been to in my travels along America’s interstate highway system. Great layout, friendly & informative staff. Vending machines for refreshments. Payphone out front and plenty of parking. Definitely recommend you stop by if you’re new to the area.

Wow, I’ve never seen such a nice Rest area in North Carolina. The buildings are new and they use environmentally friendly equipment in the facilities. There’s even solar panels on the roof. It’s landscaped perfectly and there is plenty of parking and room to walk your dog or stretch your legs. Definitely worth stopping here if you need a break.

Probably the best place to stop when heading back east to Charlotte from Asheville or any other place off of I-40. Looks more like a log cabin than a rest stop and it definitely houses the same hospitality. Even for the winter time, this place is brilliantly landscaped. Flowers, edged grass, and other nice plants giving the space some green. The bathrooms were immaculate. Very clean, two separate entrances for each, and the hand soap smells amazing. Not like some of those other rest stop where the soap is an obligatory element and typically smells like bandaids. The parking situation is great, too. Not too many spaces outlying too far from the main facility and all angled for a quick get away! Really easy entrance and exit for this rest stop.
