Kiera Confections

In McHenry, there’s not many places to find a good cupcake. not like in the city or even a larger town, where cupcake bakeries are a’plenty, so I’m glad there’s an option when the cupcake craving strikes!
I got 3 different kinds (Key Lime, Chocolate Salted Caramel & German Chokolate) to share, and while they looked amazing and the flavors were great, I found the cake part to be extremeeeeeeely dry, which kinda ruined them for me.
I DO like that they offer different flavors on different days, monthly special flavors, and some daily staples… I’m hoping it was just a fluke (because I hear a lot of great things about Kiera’s) so another day, I’ll have to give them another shot.

New to the area and have been trying to find a good bakery. Went online and checked out some reviews and seen that Kiera’s Confections had very good reviews. Decided to give this bakery a chance and ordered a pie. I must say it was about the worst desert I’ve ever tried. Pie was over cooked, dry and tasteless. I’m not one to make a fuss, but the pie was $ 15 and I couldn’t eat more then a bite of it. Decided to call the bakery and try and get a refund, which they gave me but I still waisted over a hour of my time making multiple trips. Women working the front desk seemed to be agitated and was not apologetic to say the least. Very confused how they received any positive feedback or reviews, must be friends and family. Not trying to hurt this establishment, just want to make people aware of the lack of quality control and customer service at this place. First and last time customer.

This is a cupcake and ice cream shop in downtown McHenry. Has a cute interior with adequate seating, if you want to eat here or take home. This is a small family business that also sells ice cream, cookies, brownies, lemon squares, candy, coffee and coffee drinks. I’ve not tried the coffee drinks as yet. My husband ordered a tiered cupcake tower last year for my birthday that people still talk about!

The question is not whether these are the best cupcakes in McHenry but whether they’re the best cupcakes period!
Cupcakes are made from scratch by the owner herself. They just added premium ice cream made in Wisconsin today, if you’re anywhere near here do yourself a serious favor stop in

Yummy cupcakes & yummy café sandwiches. Celebrated Valentines with our toddlers by going to this cute bakery & enjoying lunch & dessert there. I love that it is family-​owned, the sparkly pink diner chairs are adorable & the flavor selection is awesome. Noticed a lot of people coming in to pick up orders for parties & such. Bought extras for my husband to take & share with his team.

Hands down best cupcakes ever. I’ve tried other places to see if they could top hers but no. Very sweet lady.

Yum! This place great. I’ve ordered cupcakes for several parties & have never been disappointed. They do a great job with decorations & the flavors are delicious.

I absolutely love this place! I always get the pancake & bacon cupcake, it’s one of the best I’ve ever had!

When a business sells cupcakes as one of it’s staples, I think it’s fair that people become instant critics, I mean, it’s cupcakes. Most people can make decent cupcakes at home– so when you are charging DOLLARS for one cup of cake– it better be a step UP. I’ve tried many businesses in the area, and although I don’t think Kieras is my favorite cupcake yet, it has gotten my repeat business. The cupcakes are moist enough, there seems to be a good enough selection when I go, and the girl behind the counter always makes me a few ‘Boston Crème’ cupcakes when I ask– they are delicious. I believe they are $ 2.25 each– not cheap– but when you commit to purchasing a cupcake– you expect this to be the case. I like Kiera’s– simple and tasty– sometimes that’s all you need. :)

Brought my daughter here for an after school treat. The cupcakes were amazing! Be sure to try the pancakes & bacon cupcake. It sounds weird but it’s delicious.
