Lavish Salon Spa

The staff are super friendly and really down to earth. I have had Stephanie do my nails a few times now and she does a wonderful job. Bonus — She will have you falling out of your chair laughing. She pays attention to detail and she does all her nail art free hand. Amazing artist! I won’t be going anywhere else. I love this place!
I haven’t had my hair cut in a very long time as every place I go, no one listens to what I want and they just cut. My hair was pretty much down to my rear end and all one length. I wanted something a little different. Linda was amazing! Came up with suggestions and gave me the best advice on do’s and don’ts with cut and color. Needless to say, she really wowed me with what she did to my hair. Talented woman. It really looks amazing. I am totally in love with my hair (never thought I’d say that). I will be coming back for not only my nails but my hair as well. It’s really hard to find a good stylist but to have an amazing nail artist and stylist in the same place. Huge bonus!

I love going to this salon! The owner Linda is very knowledgeable and friendly. She takes her time to listen to my needs regarding my cut and color and applies her skills so that I will look my best! Her new boutique location is convenient and charming! I highly recommend Lavish Salon!

The first time I went, she had just opened in the new building the day before so I gave her some slack. I waited almost 45 minutes because she forgot to transfer me over to the other book — 30 due to another customer and 15 for cleanup and a few walk in questions. She was pleasant but did tried to convince me to wash my hair a different way and buy the products she had. Some of that was expected. Went to pay and the credit card machine was not set up so, we had to work out another solution.
I had an event coming up in a few weeks, so we set up another appointment and she would honor my coupon for a free style since I really just wanted a cut at that appointment.
Leading up to the appointment, I did not receive a reminder call. First thought that things had not improved. Went to the appointment and waited outside (since there is no room to wait inside her booth). She was with someone and never acknowledged that I was waiting. 15 minutes later, I left. She was no where near done with the other client and had no clue she had an appointment waiting.
She is a nice person. Her ability to organize and run a business, I am not sure is really there.

I saw recent reviews for this salon, from faceless reviewers with no reviews no less, and figured that it’s high time I finish my review. Sure, it’s been awhile since I’ve been back here but let’s be honest… I will NOT be going back here again. I just hope that maybe… just maybe… there have been some improvements or another stylist on board because the owner just can’t cut it (pun intended) on her own!
I’ve been a McHenry transplant from the city for a few years now and, even though I LOVE my city stylist, figured that it’d be good to go someplace local and cheaper once in awhile. I like to have my hair did but man, my city guy’s prices are a bit much sometimes. Lavish is close to home, looked pretty nice, fancy website, and well, hey, let’s give some $ to local businesses, right?
Here’s how my appointment went. I waited over 30 minutes before my stylist came to get me and was never greeted by the receptionist who was really just wandering around the place looking for something to do. The consultation went ok when I was finally in the chair so I thought, ok… good things come to those who wait, right? WRONG. She continued with washing my hair and talked about how I don’t wash my hair right and how I use the wrong products. Asked me what I liked about my hair at least 3 times and then sat me back at her station… to wait even more. A massage client was there asking about a gift certificate, but I guess the receptionist couldn’t handle it so she took another 20 minutes out of my appointment to handle the situation. After all of that she continued to try to persuade me to color my hair. right then and there… all while another client was waiting for her appoinment after me. Was she going to have that person wait while she applied the color or what? There wasn’t another stylist there to do it, plus I waited for her for almost an hour and actually had a commitment after my appointment that I was worried about missing. I almost could’ve handled all of that craziness if my hair looked alright and I would’ve given her another chance, but god… worse haircut I’ve ever had. Took me about a month for it to grow out to where it looked right. ugh. The worse thing about it is that I had bad hair for my fiancé’s work party that night and it was first time I’ve ever met some of his colleagues, who I swear only know me as the girl with the bad bangs now.
If there is a good salon in McHenry Co. please let me know because this place just isn’t it.

This place is awesome! My mother and I had been going to the owner’s previous salon for many years (6+) and when she said she was opening a new salon/​spa, we knew we had to visit. The décor inside is great, the staff is always friendly, and the owner takes good care of her salon. I would highly recommend this salon/​spa to anyone in McHenry county, they do just about anything you could want in a salon/​spa, including massages, manicures, pedicures, hair, makeup, and brow waxing.
