Woodmaster Fence

Wood Master Fence just completed doing extensive repairs on our stockade fence after loosing a couple sections to trees and wind. They were prompt and efficient and the price was very fair compared to other estimates. As a realtor I work with many contractors and found Rich professional and easy to work with. I recommend his services.

I’m really struggling to write this review because I really, really wanted to have a good experience getting this done and it was really a double edged sword.
First, I had to call Rick on his cellphone b/​c when I tried to call the office it didn’t go through and someone on their facebook page gave me the cell number. When I called him he seemed almost put out that I called the cell and I had to explain how I got the number.
Second, He was an hour late to our first appointment. It was supposed to be for 8am (I had asked for earliest available b/​c I was moving into the new house that day) and when I called him to see if he was coming he told me our appt was at 9 and totally disregarded the fact that he was wrong, and was putting it on me.
Still, I really needed this fence and was prepared to move forward. He gave me a great quote and really had me feeling good about the work that was going to be done. He had stated several times that their online reviews were very important to them and couldn’t wait for my positive feedback because they knew they’d do a great job!
He had told me he’d get it done on a Saturday b/​c i could not be there during the week to do the walk through, and instead sent me an email saying it would be done on a Tuesday despite what I already told him.
Tuesday came around and I had to have my boyfriend walk around with him instead. When I came home from work I found several problems;
1. One entire side of the fence had a 5−6″ gap underneath it. Totally not what I was expecting
2. I TOLD Rick that i wanted them to fence just inside the utility boxes b/​c I did not want them in my yard. He told me I’d loose property and I told him I don’t care, I do not want them in my yard… come home– there they are. In my #&^$&$* yard. That one really upset me. He deliberately dishonored my wishes.
3. On the back section of the fence one part of the fencing was totally bent and already looked used and worn when it hadn’t even been in 24 hours.
4. I TOLD them not to link up to my neighbors fence, they did anyway with some makeshift section of fencing that looks super trashy.
5. His employee had a horrible attitude the entire time, complaining and complaining about doing the work that day right in front of my boyfriend which made him really uneasy and explains why the work looked so shotty at the end of it all
6. When I called Rick to tell him about my concerns he said he’d call me back and sounded really pissed about the whole thing. He did not call me back. I sat there literally in tears b/​c this big investment I just made looked like total garbage and this jerk wasn’t even apologizing or calling me back. Finally, my boyfriend called him really agitated and said we wanted the owner to come look at it himself, and he did not. 2 hours later his guys showed up, the same one with the crappy attitude from before and then sat there and blamed the huge gap under the fence because earlier that day he asked if we had a «big dog» and my boyfriend said Yes.
7. When the guys showed up to fix the gap they ignored all of the rest of the problems we pointed out and went on their merry way. Rick the owner never called back to see how it went, never showed up to look at the shotty work, and never even apologized for any of it.
I really wanted to be given a reason to write a positive review but honestly, I just couldn’t. No part of this was a really ‘great’ experience and I am honestly never going to call them again. I can’t recommend them to anyone, for any reason.

Contrary to the one star review, we actually had a pretty decent, if not great experience with Woodmaster Fence. Needed a privacy fence and chain link for our yard, got a decent qoute for both, and though the owner wasn’t on site for install, the workers he used were on time and very professional (even had to remove rather large bushes to put in the privacy fence, and did so in record time). The owner, Rick, even secured the permit we needed to install, and actually seemed pretty well versed as to local ordinaces, as far as what you could and couldn’t do. No, he isn’t the most personably guy you’ll meet, and keeps it pretty business oriented, but I’m hiring a contractor, not a friend. I’d recommend Woodmaster to anyone looking to have a fence install.
