Childhood memories are all over this place – the wood shutters, the soft serve machine, the fryer and parking lot. Hot dogs with all the fixings you wanted. No better afternoon snack for city kids stuck in their parents’ hometown for a lazy summer break.
This is the best snack shop anywhere. #mckenneymade

Best BBQ in the State of Virginia and maybe North Carolina. We stopped because we wanted soft serve ice cream but decided to order BBQ sandwiches too. The BBQ has a great smoked flavor that doesn’t need any extra spices. Will return next time we’re anywhere close to McKenney. Don’t let the store front appearance keep you away. It’s great and the ice cream was good too.

I asked for a hamburger, medium– they looked at me crazy, and said the burgers only come in one size– can’t make that stuff up!
Run by a duo of pleasant McKenneyans, this establishment is pretty much the only place to eat this side of Boydton Plank road! It’s also near a strange stop sign with blinking lights and a Citgo station that lacks digital pumps.
