A truly unique craft brewery. The first thing to understand is that this is not just another«craft» brewery. Jacob, the owner/brewer doesn’t seem interested in following trends, impressing beer snobs, or selling millions of barrels a year. What he does do is create unique, creative, flavorful beers the likes of which you won’t likely come across anywhere else, using as many locally and sustainable sourced ingredients as he can. He’s taking brewing back to it’s roots of using what came seasonally from the land and turning that into fermented happiness. I’ve had brews made with roots, mushrooms, buckthorn berries, organic grape must, and other ingredients that you don’t see in the mash anywhere else. Because he’s producing small batches with high turnover, he’s not afraid to experiment. Rather than coming off as gimmicky which a lot of «experimental» beers are, his concoctions show a keen eye for creating balanced and flavorful beers using unconventional ingredients. While you won’t find yet another Sierra Nevada knockoff, or dozens of overly hopped IPAs, you will find dozens of taps of sours, Belgians, traditional sour mash stouts, and ales made with locally grown grains malted before your eyes on the taproom floor. From making driftwood tap handles to growing their own grain, these guys are walking the walk and kicking out awesome brews for adventurous spirits. Well worth the effort to seek them out.

An unexpected stop on a recent NorCal beer tour and one of the best… it’s one thing to practice self-sustaining brewing, but usually that equates to moderate to poor flavors and recipes… not the case here… amazing flavors and experience going through a taster flight and talking with Jacob about the profiles… Go support this brewery!

You must try Humboldt Regeneration if you are a craft beer lover! As the other reviews stated, this place is hard to find. We didn’t know we had found it until we were right in front. They have a tiny sign that says«Farm Brewery» on the outside so look for that! The tasting room is very small but the two guys working there were very accommodating and knowledgable. I wouldn’t recommend bringing too many people because there is really only one sitting area that maybe has room for 5 people. This is some of the most unique beer I have ever tasted. Each one full of flavor and different from the next. If you like strong beers, this is the place for you! Humboldt Regeneration is a great place to go if you respect the process for making craft beer. This brewery will blow you away!

Off the beaten path — and a bit hard to find(look for the HRBEERSIGN on the north end of Central ave — just past the Railroad Rd. intersection light — west side of the road) at the AAA sign in the back of an industrial complex — inside a garage/warehouse space all the way in the back — is one of the real hidden gems of the California north coast and behind the Redwood Curtain. Humboldt Regeneration — from seed to glass… that is their greed — this true heirloom brewer literally takes your beer from start to finish and back again. They raise most of the ingredients locally — about a half a mile away, roast, ferment, brew them in house and then after you have drank the finished product — recycle all of the leftovers back to the ground in which they came… old school & world class. A true heirloom Brewer — using cutting edge technology and methodology with old school craftsmanship — brewing mostly Belgium style crafted beers, stouts, IPAs and porter brews — this is about as close as you can get to brewing it yourself but not. These guys are serious about their brews and where everything comes from. A recent stop in Humboldt Regeneration had me sampling seven(7) different offerings the day of my visit — the brew master(Jacob) had produced 200+ different styles of brews in the past year. This unassuming 2 ½ year old nano brewery has been taking the northwest brewery scene by storm — voted one of the top nano breweries of 2014 in an industry paper. That in itself is impressive as this is a tough category in a very tough competitive market to get recognized in. Based after the CSA(community supported agriculture) blueprint — HR follows that same basic approach — you can buy«shares» into the brewery’s «harvest» that allow you x number of growler fills per quarter, bi-annually or annually — depending on the level in which you as the consumer/supporter buy in at. As well they are open to the public — Wednesday through Sunday after 11 am offering tastings to sample and determine your favorites. My personal fav this trip — a sour aged stout… like chocolate with a sour twist at the end — complex and quite tasty. One word — amazing… A full fight of seven(7) samples the day of my visit ran me 14 $ bucks I believe — had to get a growler to go… Humboldt Regeneration is a nano brewery that is well worth the visit and another thing that makes living on the north coast and behind the Redwood Curtain such an awesome place to live. Stop in for a visit, have a taste — grab a growler — Jacob, Eric and Matt are all helpful, approachable and knowledgeable and will make you feel welcome… These guys are Humboldt county. Be sure and tell ‘em Doc sent ya and you will get the real«locals» experience! From Seed to Glass — Humboldt Regeneration — Support Your Local BEER Farmer. Well done gentlemen well done — a Solid 5 Star home grown business on the north coast. 195

Stopped here for a beer tasting and ended up not only getting to drink a wide variety of delicious beers, but learned a lot from the two guys working there about brewing the different varieties, the ingredients they use, and about each beer I tried. The tasting room had a lot of people coming through for tastings, growler refills, and just to have a couple of beers. The guys who operate the business are extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and passionate about making great beers. I took two growlers home because I loved their beers, but also they seal the growlers in a way that allows the beer to stay fresh longer. I can see this brewery going really far with the creativity, expertise, and friendliness of the owner and his staff.

Difficult to find(look for the yellow«BEERTOGO» sign) and it’s in the back of the parking lot, but if you can find this place, it is WELL worth the visit. The staff is friendly, the brewer is right there brewing … right there. They are organic, sustainable and the beers are really really good!

Right now this is a hidden gem. But probably not for long! The owner is a hard-working, approachable, and talented guy with a passion for what he does: growing 100% of his ingredients and putting them into hand crafted beer. He also uses a CSA model so he may well be the only brewery I know of that BOTH grows its own ingredients AND uses a CSA model to serve the community. Although he specializes in belgians and sours, he has made over 100 brews in the 2 years he has been open. It’s a low key environment. He works and tends to customers at the same time and there is a real down-home feel. Food: No(but you can bring your own in) Credit Card: Yes Vibe: Chill Directions: Look for the big«AAA Storage» sign and take the drive all the way to the back. Plenty of parking. This is what a nano-brewery should be!

Organic, locally and sustainably grown microbrew. This is about as good as it gets. Can’t wait to see this business blossom.
