I am glad this place was cheap or I would have been more upset we wasted money. It has a clean appearance upon entry, but I saw a few questionable practices which made me wonder about the food. I usually do the Mongolian grill and just have them do a sauté of vegetables. Hard to screw up right? Well upon filling my veggies, I was surprised at the number of un-fresh browned looking veggies along with the claiming fresh meat that looked very questionable. Then when the grill guy was mixing up my Hubby’s spicy mix, he added a little bit of cough into the air without covering his mouth in any way :-(. I did a quick view of the sushi counter and the wasabi looked like it was in a bowl that had been used for weeks, as it was crusted and browned around the outside. Some of the food was OK, but there was not much that was impressive. I didn’t like how people had to lean over the ice cream container to get their own, I didn’t like how the staff were not overly friendly and I def did not like the fact that in such a huge resturant that they crowded all the guests right next to each other. Especially when one of those close patrons seemed to have forgotten their deodorant. I’m sure it didn’t help the food situation any. Overall, I would say it was a bad experience and we will probably never go back.

This place deserves no stars because three times I found bugs in my food. The only good thing was their fries. FRIES! At a buffet. This use to be the best place but has rapidly changed over the years of my visits. Would not recommend.

Dinner out with my husband. Decided on Grand Buffet on a Tuesday night. I tried the fried fish, salt and pepper shrimp, baked salmon, a frog leg. Everything on this list was being served at room temperature. I asked the waitress if some fish could be fried for me. Shortly she brought a plate of hot fried fish. THE fish was tasty. I also ate some chilled shell on shrimp. My husband ate a bite from here and a bite from there. He said the best part of the meal was the iced tea. A few of their hot food tables weren’t hot. And perhaps they need repairing. Probably won’t go back.

One of the better Chinese buffets I’ve been to. The selection is standard, but the addition of Mongolian BBQ makes it kind of awesome. Also, the sushi chef is on hand and takes requests.

I think this may be the worse buffet that I’ve ever been too. I went specifically for the all you can eat crab legs and to use a 15% off coupon but I did sample a few others buffet items. The crab legs were just bad. They were small and every time they replenished the supply, they were cold. The food was bland overall and room temperature. The salt and pepper crabs actually tasted better than the snow crab. The restaurant was clean and staff was nice but I can’t imagine that I will ever return.

My wife really likes this place; I think it’s pretty good. Probably 4.5, now that I think about the Mongolian grill; 5.0 if it wasn’t a buffet. Good variety, good food. I’m always stuffed when I leave.

I almost didn’t try this place because of the stars rating, but I’m glad I went anyway. The food was hot and flavorful!!! I would come back :-)

I was really pleasantly surprised. The buffet options in McKinney are this place and Panda, and Panda has some serious issues keeping food at proper temps. We decided to try it out and I personally was happily surprised to find decent sushi, a nice Mongolian grill and plenty of salad, fruit and meat options. Crab Rangoon here was nicely fried and the lo mein was perfect. Nothing looked old, everything was piping hot and filled. I didn’t like the soups, as the hot sour soup tasted yucky and the egg drop was nothing special. I’m happy we tried this place. The kids loved it and the service was great.

We got there at 8pm on a Thursday evening and the buffet items, what there was left of them, were on their last legs. By 8:30pm it was clear that there was not going to be fresh food put out, as they were taking things off the buffet and mopping the buffet area and vacuuming the dining room floors. This was an hour before their 9:30pm closing time. We will not be back.

Only good thing on the Buffett was the egg drop soup, they do get one star because of the friendly staff

This place used to be great, but now it is horrible. It is dirty. They need to shut down and scrub the place. The food is not cooked right. They charge more on crab nights, but the crab tastes over boiled and like left overs. I could not crack them because they were so soft and squishy. My daughter got a salmon sushi roll and the salmon was hard like rubber. Their shrimp also tastes over cooked. Ten years ago this was our family’s favorite place, but now we won’t be returning for fear of food poisoning.

Wow! What an improvement from the last time I been there. All the seats were new including the booths and chairs. The buffet look terrific with brand new serving bowls for the cold items and salad bar. The crab ragoons were large not little triangles. The food in general was really good. I was thrilled to see the improvements that they had made.

Not the greatest buffet. But definitely not the worst. The service is pretty good. Went by late one Friday night with the kiddos. Under 3 is free. Being the end of the night, they were mindful of things finishing on the buffet. A couple of items were brought out almost immediately upon our asking for them. Very pleased with that. I really like the hibachi grill they have in the back. Pretty good. Not a bad selection especially compared to like Genghis Grill who recently took shrimp off their list of ingredients. They don’t have any alcohol but didn’t complain that I brought a beer with me. So, would probably go back but not something to write home about.

Very basic Chinese buffet — most items are excellent with only a few missing the mark. Much better than nearby Panda Buffett. Crab legs on the weekends!

Well, I’m not going to lie. This is just your normal Chinese buffet. I went on a weekday night and they did not have crab legs so I did not feel there was anything special going on. The food was fine, service was decent until the end. When we paid, I gave her a coupon, even though she took the coupon, she didn’t apply it to my check. Then she dropped off our check and went to the hostess stand and just talked on her phone. Since I could not get her attention and she took my coupon, I ended up having to pay the regular price, but that made me kind of upset. Luckily it was only $ 10 being a weeknight, so I guess that was a reasonable price for a mediocre buffet.

Nice buffet, just a place to get a sushi fix. Nice variety in sushi for a good value.

This place is well worth the trip. It has great food at a good price. My only complaint is the interior needs to be redone. The carpet should be cleaned and the seats also need to be recovered. The windows also need two be cleaned and the kitchen is visible to the seating area should be kept tidy. the food and the value is outstanding. I love family owned joints

The food is good, but my heart was really touched when I saw a family out in the parking lot in need of some help, I found out all they needed was a tire jack. They were stranded and not from the area. I didn’t have one, so I went back inside the restaurant and asked. The manager jumped up, went to his car. and got them going super quick. I posted a picture from the incident up top. There was a car rental place and a gas station in the same strip mall. They couldn’t be bothered to help. Say what you want about their lack of English skills, these guys are invested in their community. I would like to see more businesses run like this. Sorry for my preaching. Thanks Grand Buffet!

This review is sort of all over the place in terms of how I got to the scoring. Presentation — 2. At first glacé, the place does not represent itself well. Both inside and out, the restaurant looks bad. It almost looks like it is closed from the outside, and inside the paint, furniture and overall décor have surely seen better days. There were no cleanliness issues that I noticed however. Food — 3.5. The food is very typical Chinese buffet quality, but was very fresh when I got there(especially the fruit which at many places is plain nasty looking) and was presented well. The sushi looked far more appealing than most buffet sushi. Service — 5. The service was fantastic. The young man who greeted answered a few questions we had about pricing(no children’s pricing was listed for Sunday) and offered us a chance to look around before we decided to stay or not. I also asked him about my allergy(severe sesame allergy) which makes eating at any Asian restaurant a challenge. His English wasn’t perfect, but he clearly understood me and pointed out the only couple of dishes that used sesame in them. After eating the Chinese stuff, I took a look at the sushi. There was only one choice(salmon roll) that didn’t have sesame seeds, but even that I wanted to make sure of since sushi often has sesame oil added in various ways. I asked the gentleman at the front who came back to the sushi area with me. He assured me that the salmon rolls had no sesame, and asked me if he could make me something else. I just wanted a simple California roll, and he made it for me on the spot. Both his roll and the one already prepared were very fresh and tasty and were rolled/cut very well. For a greeter to go out of his way to personally make me a roll at a buffet was extremely nice. The young lady who was handling the tables was also very nice. She kept the area policed perfectly and kept our water glasses filled in a very efficient manner. In all, this was a very nice experience that started out a little bit scary because of 1st appearances.

This is an excellent buffet. When you walk in the place is nicely decorated and staffed with nice people. It appears very clean and no weird smells(as some buffets do). I was amazed by the selection. I want to say there were 4 – 5 different bars of food. It was impressive. They serve some American dishes and plenty of Asian dishes. They have a hibachi area and sushi rolls coming out on the fly. I am a sampler at buffets and everything was amazing. By far my favorite thing that brings me back again and again is the crab legs on Friday and Saturday night. For $ 13, all you can eat steamed crab legs… let’s just say AMAZING. They serve butter sauce to the side. Overall, this is a nice BIG buffet with plenty for everyone to choose from no matter how picky their pallet is.
