I’m giving it one star due to the fact that one of their staff members, Ruby, is totally incompetent to do her job. She pours herself wine when she pours her«favored» regular customers wine and sits there with them while her co workers pick up ALL the slack… I love the other staff there but Ruby is a bully and needs to go or they will be losing more than just staff members that have resigned due to Ruby being crass and rude and«stealing» glasses of wine from the establishment while on the clock. I have seen first hand her laziness and berating her fellow staff in front of customers. I cannot wrap my head around WHY the owners would choose to keep someone that is so vile and hateful towards her co workers and drinks so much on the job that sometimes she can barely stand(granted she is 78, so maybe it’s not all the wine she drinks that causes the stupor). Melody, Maureen and Heather are FANTASTIC at their job and it’s sad to see some leave because of a mean old lady that the owners refuse to let go. Totally their loss in my observations(and I’ve had many as stated above). Lone Star Wine Cellars, your place is beautiful and cozy and fabulous for the most part, you just need to get rid of Ruby, the dead weight…

Very friendly staff, comfortable place to hang out and have a little wine. The Gewurtztraminer is refreshing and tasty on a hot summer day. The immortal Zin is also very good red.

Such a great place!!! Staff is amazing, very polite, friendly and nice! And while you are sipping great wine, snacking on fantastic cheese, you can also listen to amazing music! We were there when Nelson Miller was singing some James Taylor and Neil Diamond songs! He was great! Such a great singer! Can’t wait to be back to the Lone Star Wine Cellars!

Absolutely love this place! Great local wine and amazing customer service. A lot of locals and a very nice location in historic area of McKinney. I like the little touch of providing snacks. They’ve added a new room, which is just what they needed for the busy nights.

Amazing customer service from start to finish. Very friendly, outgoing and even the patrons were welcoming. The music was great. The owner ended up hanging out in a very relaxed, casual yet fun environment. The wine selections are great, tastings are worth it and the cost is average and well worth every penny. Snacks were yummy and the trays looked delicious. Had a good selection of snack foods and you can order out and have delivery from local restaurants. It was definitely the place to be. A place to return to!

Horrible service, 90 minutes before I could order a drink, everyone was coming in to get a drink, after waiting an hour, I went to the bar and refused to take my order and told they would be at our reserved table, I explained I’ve been here over an hour already. Was in a group setting and very very disappointed with the no service. It took them another 30 minutes to approach my table and get my order. I almost walked out with paying because they never presented my bill and another 10 minutes to pay cash on my bill. I was leaving and refused to take my money while they rang up credit cards. Would never recommend this place. I had to post a star, I wouldn’t even give a ½ star.

This winery located just off the square in McKinney offers what could be a very quiet place in which to sample wines or just have a glass… I went there on a Thursday evening with some friends and did the«3 estate-1 reserve» flight. I simply asked to be served whichever ones were recommended… That being said I tried 2 whites and 2 reds… the first white was the one I wound up buying a bottle of …“The Grey Ghost”… a 2012 Pinot… The tasting room sits adjoining a lounge area where they had a singer… the music was ok, but in such a small area, it would have been better if an instrument had not been used. in that it got to be a bit loud, The service was a little slow but excellent…

I’ve been here twice, and both times have had a good time. A big part of that would be Ruby. She has served me both times and was fantastic each time. If she is working, try Ruby’s rules. She knows the good dry wines and will give you some great wine to try out. The wines are a little more than I like to pay, but they have a good selection.

The server told me the definition of an Estate Wine was«just not as good as a reserve». When I asked where the estate was she said their winery was somewhere but they don’t actually grow grapes there. I asked where they do grow their grapes and she says they don’t grow any of their own. Why they’re calling anything an «Estate Wine» if they don’t grow anything is amazing, apparently ATTB laws mean nothing to them. Aside from the misrepresentation of their wine, it’s just ok. I try to buy a bottle at every place I go, but walked away empty handed on this one.

Wonderful atmosphere and a wide selection of great wines. Drop in for a casual relaxing environment and most nights the entertainment is very good. Sweet wines are our favorites but they also have some very nice Merlot and Cabernet’s.

Cute place, poor service. Went in there twice, sat in there fifteen minutes watched them serve everyone but myself and my date. Pretty embarrassing. Will not be back nor suggesting it to anyone. We left and went to Landon Winery down the street instead it was excellent!

Like drinking wine and live near downtown McKinney, TX? Stop by Lone Star Wine Cellars and try the«Big Red». The place is small, but they just added a extra room to sit, enjoy wine and talk with your friends. Live music is frequent, though I never notice the schedule. :) The staff is friendly and will help you through some tastings if you looking to try some Triple R Ranch winery productions.

Lone Star is a little place right on the square(in the Ritz Theatre building) that serves and sells wines made here in North Central Texas. It’s nice but really small, almost cramped. It’s actually a joint venture between Wales Manor and Triple R Ranch and those are the wines that they have in stock to sell by the bottle. I especially recommend the Wales Manor Meritage for a nice fruity red wine. It’s sweet without overdoing it. They also have some fruit wines(like blueberry) that would make an excellent dessert wine.
