My husband and I had dinner at Mitas Hill last night for the first time. It was Valentines weekend so we had the pre-fixe dinner. I made the reservation via email — they responded timely and were very helpful and friendly. Our reservation was at 7:45, so it was too dark to see the vineyard but they had the trees lit up in white lights and it was stunning. The restaurant was beautiful, with Windows everywhere and a fireplace in the middle of the room. The harpist added a lovely touch. I give them an A+ for atmosphere. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. We shared a bottle of the Tempernillo reserve, for $ 56. It was oddly tangy, with a sharp bite; it was thin and one dimensional. The food was mediocre — the soup needed seasoning and my trout was drowning in a heavy cream sauce. The cheesecake was exceptional, but the chocolate mousse was lacking. We both woke up with a stomachache the next morning, as did a friend of ours who also fined there. I wanted so badly to love it, but both the wine and food left much to be desired.

My husband and I just returned from a romantic Valentine’s dinner at their restaurant. It was our first time here and we didn’t have any trouble finding it with google maps, just slow down to catch the small FM roads. Once you turn past their main gates, they had beautiful lit up trees guiding the rest of the path up to their beautiful building. The dining room is small and feels intimate; it centers around a hearth which they had lit and gave such charm to the room. We had a price fixe menu and everything on it was far above expectation. Their filet was Wagyu and cooked to perfection(I savored every bite of that!). The soup was a unique carrot/ginger cream based soup with goat cheese which sounds odd but was quite delicious and the dessert was made in house. We had their raspberry cheesecake which just melted in my mouth. The service was incredible and so kind. The waitstaff is easy to talk to and everyone seemed observant and attentive without feeling like they were watching our every move as some fancy restaurants can feel. Since this was our first time, we tried their wine flight($ 7) to sample their reds. They specialize in tempanillo grapes. Everything had a nice smooth finish and we ended up getting a bottle of their cabernet(they normally reserve this for members but made an exception for Valentine’s), which they then docked the price of our wine flight. I heard about this place from a client at work who raved about their events so I definitely plan to return for one in the future. Absolutely wonderful all the way around!

Wendall and I went here for my birthday and had dinner and spent the nite. We had the delicious Ribeye Steak and the special of the night which was trout, both were fabulous! The waiters were friendly and efficient and the food was superb. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and the lodging which is on 26 beautiful acres! A must for everyone to go to that live in the DFW area!

Some friends and I recently found out that Gregory’s Bistro had moved from downtown McKinney to Mitas Hill Vineyard. Naturally, we were disappointed that they were no longer BYOB. Since we had not been there in several months, we decided to make the trek further north and check out the winery. I think most people are in agreement that the grounds and the building are beautiful both inside and out. We arrived 45 minutes ahead of our dinner reservation to taste some of their wines in the bar. We were not impressed with any of their red wines nor their expensive price tags. They are typical of most Texas wines, i.e. young, light-bodied and heavy on the tannins. Note: You have to be a member of their wine club at the tune of $ 200/month to be able to taste or buy their Tempranillo/Cabernet blend(Bonjice), but I doubt that it is an improvement over the others.
Dinner was wonderful as always(Gregory’s has perfected the art of culinary cooking), but if we wanted to drink wine, our only choices were the Mitas Hill for which we paid $ 40/bottle. As another customer stated, you would have been better off drinking Three Buck Chuck from Trader Joe’s. It is a shame to be able to dine at a 4 – 5 star restaurant that serves only 0 – 1 star wine.

The only reason I’ll give it a star is because the setting is nice. No reason to come back though. Wine: 0 stars: This wine is not even Charles Shaw quality. Service 0 stars: We came in to have a tasting on a Saturday evening around 7pm and they weren’t that busy. However, every waiter we interacted with seemed so frantic and disorganized. It was so bad we were actually just laughing at it. Setting: ½ star, it’s a pretty place that’s in the country and close to McKinney.

Awesome tasting today. Did the 15.00 wine and food pairing and you get to take a wine glass home. Wines were great as well as the ambiance. The grounds are gorgeous and a great escape from a 100 degree day in Dallas. We’ll definitely be back again, maybe even too harvest grapes next weekend. Fun place!

Breathtaking scenery. Doesn’t even feel like Texas. The grounds are lush and so very green. Sitting outside on their patio sipping a tempranillo on a perfect Texas evening, will have you feeling like royalty. The food from the wine bar is good(nothing terribly memorable). It’s the cuisine from bistro(Gregory’s) that will be etched on my taste buds forever. I loved Gregory’s when it was in downtown McKinney. Food was exquisite then. I promise you, nothing has changed. My husband and I decided to do the chef’s 4 course menu(surprise), and were beyond thrilled that we did. Every course was such a delight. The downside is that it’s pretty pricey, especially the wine, and also after eating at Gregory’s you realize just how bland and unsatisfying all your other meals are.

Lovely grounds and good food. The service was thoughtful… hate to give it a good rating as don’t want others to find this special place!

We went there for a girls night out on a Wednesday night and we were so surprised at the beauty of this vineyard! You really feel like you are not in North Texas and the wine is better than any other Texas wine I have had. That being said, we felt like we were interrupting their family reunion or fun with the friends of the owners and staff. It was not busy and our first time there — we weren’t greeted and we talked with our server and she was always in a hurry to leave our table and not interested in giving us a tour or getting us more wine so we watched all the friends and family have a great time. We have many events in the area and were checking this out for potential venue for our events. We walked around by ourselves and no one asked if they could help etc. The staff was WAY too casually dressed with tennis shoes, flip flops, t-shirts etc. They would benefit from an image consultant talk with them and give them customer service training. I would go back if knew things had changed because the place is beautiful! I would be VERY skeptical to have an event there based on the way we were treated just for a tasting and dinner.

We went to Mitas Hill for date night last night. It was perfect! We sat on the patio and enjoyed the views of the vineyard while we ate. The service was phenomenal and the wine was much better than other TX wines we’ve had in the area. We’ll definitely be going back soon.

Such a beautiful place! Beautiful scenery. The staff is awesome and super nice and attentive! Highly recommend for a date night, wedding ceremony and/or reception, or even a place to just go out and take pictures.

If you like wine, jazz, great food and a beautiful location look no further. This vinyard and restaurant is located off highway 121 in the country in Mckinney. The restaurant sits just off the country road up on a hill with the vinyard below surrounding. The food was excellent, they had a live jazz band and their wine is very good. They also have outdoor lounging and a nice wine bar if you you don’t want to eat. I would recommend this hidden gem and will definitely be returning.

Cheese plate appetizer was a home run. It’s not Napa, but it’s as close as we can get without hopping on a plane. Still haven’t changed my mind about Texas wine but I would definitely come back for the ambiance. This would be a good location for a girls outing. I imagine the grounds are beautiful during Spring & Fall.

My husband planned my birthday party with a group of about 20 guests at Mitas Hill and I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful it was. We did a tasting with food pairing with the wine maker and toured the barrel room as she explained the wine making process. The staff was outstanding as were the owners! We had a private room for our event with a fireplace. We stayed and chatted as we drank more wine and ordered pizzas. I can not say enough great things about our experience and the staff. I highly recommend them for a dinner, tasting, group event!

We loved our visit to Mitas Hill. We had a great time. It’s a lovely location, the staff is friendly, and the tasting room has great views of the grounds. The«Sip and Savor» is a great deal — just $ 7 for four samples(they were also offering a free glass of wine for joining their mailing list when we visited — not a bad deal!). Some wines are better than others, but if you’re like us, you’re here more for the enjoyable experience rather than expecting«Old World» quality wines.

This place is beautiful! They recently built an area for a tasting room/bar and a steak restaurant. The ao sphere is relaxing, the people are friendly. The prices for the steak dinners remind me of Ruth Chris. The appetizers looked tasty. The wine was good, there were a couple I liked from the 5 I tried and we brought a bottle home that we both agreed on. The view is spectacular. You don’t feel like you’re in Texas rather the hill country of California. It’s a nice drive out there through the country. Next time we will try the food.
