I stopped by there yesterday looking to sell four of my firearms. Although I did not ultimately sell my guns to them, I was treated with the same kind of courtesy and professionalism that I would expect to get if I was a «paying» customer. Eric was very upfront about the fact that the shop was generally full up on used stock, but took some time to research the items anyway. Very, very customer friendly. Would not hesitate to go there if I was in purchasing mode.

I needed a hand-held pepper spray for trail running and Eric walked me through options and gave me lots of practical tips on product use/situational awareness. I really appreciated the expert advice and personal attention. If you guys ever decide to hold a self-defense class for women, let me know!

Reasonable prices, but knowledge of staff is lacking. As a last resort for a quick purchase, this is a nice option.

A fellow marine brother recommend me to go here and see JB to buy a new handgun, it was on a Monday which btw they are suppose to be closed but JB opened up for me and my wife so we can check out his inventory. JB was very professional and knowledgeable didn’t have a problem with us asking tons of question and pretty much held most of the weapons there, overall great experience, didn’t fell any pressure into buying anything but ended up with the Glock 19 which I love. Thanks again JB and y’all go check him out

Newcomers BEWARE! I took the VA& Utah concealed carry course here in Dec. and the instructor(their employee) pointed out a gun that he thought would be good for me. My husband surprised me with that gun for Christmas, but I couldn’t get into a NRA Defensive Pistol class until last weekend. Long story short, it turns out the gun is too small for my hands. And being that it was never shot or used in any way, my husband went by yesterday to see if we they would work with us to exchange it for another(more expensive) gun. They said he could exchange it less 50% of what he paid just 3 months ago. THEIR instructor suggested which gun I should get and now they aren’t willing to work with us to help me get it right. They obviously don’t care about their customers(we’ve spent $ 1200 there). Funny how friendly they were last year when people were protesting outside their location because it’s behind an elementary school, but don’t believe for a minute that they’re interested in educating you to feel more comfortable around firearms — from our experience they’re just interested in your money. The NRA instructors I had last weekend rave about Virginia Arms in Manassas — it will be worth the drive to go to store that’s highly regarded by the same people who care that you get the right equipment so you can safely learn how to use a firearm.

My first experience buying a gun was so easy with this place! They answered all my questions and were very patient with me. Rachel, JB and James are great owners and despite the community uproar of «guns are bad», they all maintain professionalism and positive energy. If you want a gun or just want to be educated on gun control, go to NOVA Firearms.

The gun control crowd sure makes much ado about nothing. If anything is going to impact the store, it’s the inventory mark up. Even cheap range ammo is a rip off! Otherwise, pretty good selection.

small location with the worst parking. Got lucky on the day I made a purchase. Great customer service! There’s a beautiful young lady in that shop that knows a lot about firearms… A man’s dream! lol

Finally bought some stuff. Good staff. Good assortment of quality gear and weapons. Prices slightly higher than nearby competition, such as NOVA Armament in Herndon.

Great service. Friendly folks. Bought several magazines from them. Reasonable prices and they were even friendly to the ignoramuses protesting out front!

Was there today for their opening at their new location. It was a very nice experience. They were still doing some setup, but the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Nice inventory and prices are right where you would expect. I will be back for sure. I notice some individuals making silly comments about«children in McLean never being safe again». Considering many of Nova Firearms clients are police and military, I would say they are probably more safe. Don’t get on Unilocal and make foolish comments that have nothing to do with dealing with Nova Firearms on a business level. Like I said, I will be back and will encourage all of my friends to patronize Nova Firearms.

Not a great experience. I had a P226 that I needed to sell, as I’m moving overseas. I called and they gave me a rough price range of $ 450 – 650, noting that it would vary based on condition. They also said that because I didn’t have the box or the second mag, I may be closer to the bottom of the range. Ok, fine. I need to sell the thing. I show up with the pristine P226(they were clearly impressed with condition), and they quote me $ 400. To avoid the hassle, I agree to it, and they take my ID to start the paperwork. Then, out of nowhere the guy says«Oh, you don’t have the box it came in. It’ll be $ 300.» Needless to say, I walked away, not just because of the insulting price, but because of the shady way of doing business. Bottom line, this was just a creepy place. Everything from their negotiating style, to the professionalism of the staff to the space itself felt uncomfortable. There are much better options nearby.

I called on a day they were closed and spoke to the owner and asked if he had a certain brand and weight of 9 mm ammunition I was looking for, he told me yes. I came in right when they opened the next day and asked the younger guy behind the counter for the ammo. He looked at the owner and asked if they carried it and he said they didn’t. I said, «but I called yesterday and you told me you did». He said maybe someone already bought it. I asked how could that be if you were closed yesterday when I called and just just opened today? He just scowled at me and said nothing. It was obvious he knew I caught him in a lie. I will never go back there because of that and I live in McLean! Not even for a FFL transfer based on the hassles others have had here.

I’m pretty suspicious about all these 5-star reviews… I chose this shop to ship out several firearms I was selling online, since an FFL can ship firearms more cheaply than an individual mailing/Fedexing them, and save me trips to ship guns since I don’t have a car. This shop seemed pretty professional and organized, their FFL fee was the lowest of several major local shops, and shipping out firearms is a really routine basic task, so I chose them. Cute several *months* of hassle. I ended up selling firearms to three different buyers from online sites. On *multiple* occasions, I would send all the information for the buyer’s gunshop/FFL to NoVA, they would say«we’ve shipped it out, we’ll send tracking numbers soon», and weeks later when it hadn’t arrived and I had angry buyers emailing me, NoVA would say«oh, we haven’t shipped it yet, we will soon». In one case, a buyer paid me for a rifle in mid-December wanting it for a Christmas present, I provided the receiving FFL info to NoVA, and they didn’t bother actually shipping it until mid-January, and when pressed blamed the receiving shop even though they’d explicitly said«we’re all good and shipping it out» weeks before. Long story short, what should’ve been an extremely simple process involving me CC’ing NoVA on a couple emails saying«here’s the guy buying, here’s his local gunshop that’s receiving» turned into dozens of phone calls(often unanswered) and emails asking if guns had been shipped weeks later, upset emails from guys who expected their guns weeks ago and feared I was scamming them(endangering my literally decade-long reputation on some firearm hobbyist sites), and completely inaccurate«oh yeah we already shipped that… oh wait no we haven’t» for weeks. If this shop can’t handle something so incredible simple as shipping a package and keeping basic records like they’re required to by federal law, I have a hard time trusting them with anything.

I went in there today as a newbie interested in purchasing a gun. I can’t recall his name, but the taller blonde gentlemen was extremely helpful and willing to work with me in finding what I was looking for, which was a small .380ACP. I expected that because I was new that they would ignore me and focus on two other customers who were quite experienced and had already known what they had in mind. I will definitely be going back here in the future for my firearm needs, as I know they are willing to help and take the time to work with new customers on figuring out what’s best.

First off, they are not the only gun shop in the Beltway despite what they advertise. I got a sub-par price on a Glock 19 Gen 4, though that’s mainly my fault for not shopping around. They told me over the phone that they would provide 310-round magazines since I live in DC. Once I got to the store, they told me they only had 1 magazine in stock, take it or leave it. I was antsy, so I got it and had them order an additional magazine at my cost. When the firearm shipped to my FFL, they did not include the additional magazine I paid for. No idea where it is. They incorrectly provided my information to my in-state FFL, delaying my pick up. I called them and they said they would follow up with me. Never did. Eventually I and the FFL sorted things out with no help from them. This was my first firearms purchase, and needless to say, I’ve learned a few things. They seem like nice people but I had an awful buying experience.

I can’t speak about all the negative reviews, but I can say if you don’t do your homework before you buy a gun, and try to buy from anywhere or from anyone, then your just a idiot, and I am personally glad they didn’t sell you a gun. Once I found the gun that I liked and researched comparable models and calibers. Then I started talking with my friends in military and on the force to find out where they shop, and many of them do shop online. NOVA Firearms are very competitive with there pricing. They offer all the information needed included the ATF forms that you can pre-print and fill out ahead of time(like I did) to make the purchase a faster and quicker transition. My sig P226 was a custom gun that I had ordered and shipped to this location primarily because of there pricing. I met the owner and was able to talk to many of the staff, which all were nice and courteous. For those that posted all these bad reviews, just a heads up the staff may have the same allergies I do, we may be allergic to IDIOTS. Finally if I don’t buy a gun at a gun show, then I know for sure that I will be ordering it from NOVA Firearms. Look forward to doing business with you in the future.

New location. Same bad service. I really wanted to buy local for my next gun purchase. We had just moved to the area from Texas, and I guess before we had been spoiled by the amount of choice available. It seems like up here NOVA Firearms is the only option in town. I’m really not sure if the owner realizes how he can come off. He is brusk and short. I did not feel comfortable asking questions and felt belittled when I did. He was worse towards my husband. We ended up buying online. Our second interaction was when we wanted a gun transferred from FFL dealer to FFL dealer. Again, brusk and short treatment both on the phone and in person. It’s a shame since this place could be really good. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt that he just doesn’t know how it comes across. I would recommend Virginia Arms in Manassas as an amazing alternative that is worth the drive for stellar service and better selection.
