Best food in the entire area. I always turn to red tomato when i dont have time to cook or just need to order out.

Listen, the food is decent. It’s really not bad at all… the service on the other hand. Rude would be a compliment if you are ordering delivery. I have had a couple of issues with the delivery folks as well, as they can be just a nice as an injured animal.

I ordered wings, mozzarella sticks and cannoli. No blue cheese, no ranch as I had requested for the mozz sticks, and the mozz sticks were quite slimy and soggy in their packaging. I contacted Grubhub about the poor quality and they contacted mgmt who would do NOTHING. I could have microwaved this stuff better than it was delivered. How is this place still in bizness!

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! I came down to McLean on an overnight business trip and had the bad fortune of looking up Red Tomato Pizzeria on Unilocal and ordering a pizza and some onion rings. An hour and a half after I ordered my stuff still hadn’t shown up. I called up Red Tomato Pizzeria and the parade of lies began. 1) Your order has already been delivered — That was a lie 2) Your order never showed up from Eat24 — That was a lie, especially since I’m sitting here looking at the receipt. There was no talk about refunding my money. There was also no talk about getting me my food. This place is an example of the very worst Unilocal has to offer. If you’re here on business you’d better think twice before doing business with these people. Maybe I should just count myself as lucky that my food never showed up. Bonus suckage: The phone went dead multiple times when calling. Maybe they hung up, maybe their phone system sucks, maybe phones are too complicated for them. Seriously, think twice before inflicting this place upon yourself!

While on a business trip to McLean, VA, I found this place on GrubHub and decided to give it a shot. I ordered pasta with steamed vegetables. First of all, the vegetables were overcooked, and I’m pretty sure they used frozen mixed vegetables, while there’s nothing wrong with that per se, it did not taste good. To top it off I found a black hair in it. Unacceptable. Stopped eating and threw it out. Waste of money.

Bad reviews make me sad, but there was nothing good about this experience. First of all, I got it through GrubHub since I’d never tried GrubHub before and I was stuck without a car that weekend. Red Tomato Pizzeria had good reviews, so I figured I’d try it. I placed my order at 6:08PM. It was for a Mediterranean Salad and a 3 Topping Stromboli. The first email said it would get there from 7:05 — 7:15. Then another came in at 6:40 saying it would get there at 7:30. Around 8:15, the delivery driver showed up and apologized profusely about the wait. He asked me if they had called me to let me know, and I had no idea what he was talking about. I guess they were supposed to call me and notify me about the extra wait? I still figured it’d be fine since the restaurant was only about 3 miles away, so I assumed the food would be good – just late. But no. It turned out that it had been sitting somewhere(his car, I’m guessing) for a long time. The stromboli was cold and slimy, especially on the bottom. On the opposite end, the salad was warm and the chicken was incredibly dry. I tried eating it, but that wasn’t happening. I contacted GrubHub who in turn contacted Red Tomato Pizzeria. I was unaware of this, but apparently GrubHub can’t give refunds without the business’s approval. The more you know, eh? The manager of Red Tomato Pizzeria refused to do so, though he or she did give me 10% of my money back. So I got about 2 dollars back on a $ 29 inedible mess of a meal. Very helpful. GrubHub couldn’t refund my money since the manager of Red Tomato Pizzeria wouldn’t do it, even though it was Red Tomato’s delivery person who took so long. The worst part of it though? They didn’t answer their phones because they were«too busy» to do so, making the process of trying to get a refund that much longer. I get that there are busy nights, but when you’re charging that much for food, shouldn’t you be a bit more concerned when your food takes over two hours to be transported such a short distance? Basically, it comes down to the situation. Had they handled it differently, I would have come back and tried again. The stromboli appears like it would have been delicious were it fresh, and while the salad looked pretty nasty all-around, stromboli would be enough to draw me back. However, with an attitude like theirs where they don’t care about the quality of their own food, I’m looking elsewhere. I’d advise others to do the same– at least for delivery.

This New Yorker finds Red Tomato the closest to a NY pie in McLean, where good pizza is hard to come by.

Not sure I can put my finger on it, but the pizza was just a bit bland, and I ordered«The Works» it just didn’t taste that good. When I took my first slice, there was quite a bit of liquid on the pizza tray. As someone who lived in Naples, Italy for two years, I can honestly say this pizza is just OK.

Although the food here is very good, their attention to detail is lacking. Ordered online for a few people in the office. Simple order = chicken fingers with honey mustard, onion rings, 2 BLTs, one darkly toasted and French Fries. When the order arrived, it was missing the honey mustard and the darkly toasted BLT was barely toasted. Called to tell them the dark toasted BLT was wrong and was told OHWELL. That’s not what a disgruntled customer really wants to hear. Oh, they sure didn’t forget to charge that delivery fee, though. Too bad.

Eh, I’ve had better pizza at cheaper places in McLean. People were hard to communicate and delivery was complicated by them unnecessarily.

Much better places to eat in the area. I’ve given this place 2 – 3 chances and each time the food was border line ok. The last time it was horrible!!!

The gluten free pizza is fantastic! We are both GF and are constantly searching for the perfect pizza. The best part is that the GF pizza is big, unlike the usual small ones. Great find and look forward to ordering again!

I come here for the white pizza! I recommend they work a little bit more on their marinara sauces. It’s bitter! Especially with the deep dish pizzas. As for the pastas, they’re okay… To conclude, the pizzas here are the best, from the perfect, lightly browned crust, to the different and plenty cheeses.

Wow, bad business, guys. I’ve been ordering from here at least once, sometimes twice, a week for the past 5ish years and most of the time never had problems. Now they changed their business to have a minimum order for delivery — I just want a large pizza and live less than 1 mile away. I don’t need to order more. Bad move, b/c i will go elsewhere for my pizza. Esp since there are almost a dozen pizza places in McLean.

Ordered a large pizza and wings, and found two hairs between the crust and sauce. The wings were flavorless and soggy, I threw everything out. What a waste of money, don’t bother coming here.

I pre-tipped over 20%(something I recommend not doing) I placed my order at 8:20pm and it’s now 9:45pm. they are 2.3 miles away from my apartment. I called and asked why is it taking so long and the rep told me the driver took multiple deliveries. So my appetite is ruined. However… at least i’ll shed some vanity weight! 5exy time! The food in general is pretty decent. it’s just not too tasty when it’s cold: P

So my entire family ordered take out from here and it’s safe to say we will never order it again. I had boneless chicken wings and they actually tasted okay, but were not spicy at all(the menu advertises them as spicy) and had literally no sauce on them. There was no sauce but approximately a teaspoon of Tabasco at the bottom of the container. My mother was starving, and said that her order tasted absolutely horrible. The vegetables appeared to be store bought and frozen, and for one of the first times ever she even threw out the leftovers. So everybody, save yourself the money and go buy food from the same place they do: the Giant down the street.

3.5 stars. Really torn between«Yah! I’m a fan» and«A-OK». The Margarita Gourmet Pizza was somewhat of a let down. I usually think fresh beautiful bold colors… green, white, and red of the Italian flag. What the pizza actually looked like was really not so appetizing. The pizza could have really used more of a basil kick, but otherwise not a bad tasting pizza. Another point of confusion is that we’ve been here a few times already and even though we’ve ordered the same thing, we’ve not gotten a salad the first time, the second time we got a small salad, and the third time we got a large salad. I guess in the end it evens out, but would be nice to know why the inconsistency. The star of the show in my opinion were the calzones /stomboli. The Meat Classic was definitely loaded with meat and probably lodged in my heart somewhere. But MMMM-MMMmmm. That was good. HEAVY and FILLING but don’t eat it all in one sitting. You’d probably die.

Tried the pizza here when it first opened and was not completely taken with the experience. I have not tried it since. However, went by the other day for dinner with my father and we had a couple of pasta dishes. OMG, these are huge bowls, lots of meat, tasty garlic bread, and a very fresh tasting and nice salad that came with the combo meal. All that for I think $ 11.99 per combo meal! They even have a daily special, which usually comes in a dollar or so cheaper. Great value for money, I would come back for the pasta, and perhaps give that pizza a second chance.
