How is this place still in business? Went tonight(a Tuesday night). Not a cart in the store(all out in the parking lot). Meat selection was Horrible– with sell by dates for today and looked suspicious). 2 lines of many people. Cashier asked me to move to the other line, because she had to use the bathroom! No manager at all. It was an AWFUL experience.

It was that typical Safeway store. Everything was neatly organized and sale prices were displayed for customers. There weren’t much associate in the store to get assistance with items but Cashier was friendly and had small talk with us.

I don’t know why I keep coming here! Convenience, I guess, but honestly, this store is pathetic. And it just never gets better. My biggest complaints are out-of-date products(ALL over the store, not just produce) and the LINES. It doesn’t matter what time of the day you go in, they only have one line open, two if you’re lucky. I have been there in the middle of the afternoon with 10 people in front of me(Express line only, of course). But the biggest problem is the quality of the food, and it just keeps getting worse. Their baker left a few months ago, so now there are no cakes baked on-site. Unless you’re desperate to pick something up quickly, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. If you do visit, check expiration dates on everything you pick up!

Thanks to the few that do work here but the lines are always long. Can’t recall ever being here with more than 2 cashiers open and I’ve lived here 15 years.

I’ve been on here before and seen the bad reviews and I felt bad, so I didn’t post last time when the cashier was on her phone texting, and was ringing people up slower than a snail on ambian. But, I can’t take it anymore. WHORUNSTHISSAFEWAY??? Service is so freaking bad here. Every time. Every. Single. Time. There’s always a huge line. 80% of the cashiers are awful. It’s often a total mess. It’s just… i wouldn’t be surprised if no one actually managed this Safeway.

This is the worst store in the area. I’ve lived here for over 15 years and this store hasn’t improved a bit! Long lines with only one checkout clerk, no fresh fish, poor meat selection(and no butcher case), ice cream that has been re-frozen because the freezer case has been broken for years and they won’t replace it! Sometimes you’ll even have trouble finding ordinary 2% milk! I’ve complained to Safeway headquarters and they never even bother to respond.

I wish there was a way to give it zero stars. Pathetic selection. I would not buy meat or seafood from this place even if it was free. Everything looks awful. The worst part about this place is that despite it always being empty, there is somehow always a line. Why? Because not matter if there is one person in line of 20′ they only have one register open. I guess if my business did as poorly as this Safeway, I might only employ one register for the day. I is is amazing that in one of the wealthiest zip codes in America, a dump like this is the best Safeway can do. Corporate needs to shut this one down and start from scratch.

Ugh. Why is Safeway so pathetic? The staff is rude. The selection is low-grade and weak. I almost never come here except when it’s due solely to convenience and I’m buying a boxed or pre-packaged item which is the same everywhere. I’d never buy produce or «fresh» food from here — ever. You’d think since the neighborhood is fairly upscale they could get a grocery store to match. Nope.

This isn’t the best Safeway out of all of the Safeway options in the area, but it is fine for quick trips. They don’t have my favorite kind of yogurt(Oikos) and sometimes they are low on bread or on frozen food, but I still go here if I’m in the area. I never really see employees roaming around to help, but whatever. If I have the option, I go to the Cherrydale Safeway.

This Safeway is almost as bad as its sister in downtown McLean. Disorganized and dingy, this store makes shopping an unpleasant chore.

This Safeway is pretty sad. Admittedly, I come here more than I should because I’m too lazy to drive to the bigger Safeway on Anderson. Their produce department is almost non-existent, and I frequently find food(perishable and non-perishable) on the shelves that is past the expiration date. I’m pretty sure they could get in trouble for that. There are a few redeeming aspects: most of the staff is really friendly(with the exception of one grumpy cashier lady); and it’s in a quiet shopping center that has plenty of parking. I’d only recommend stopping here if you’re in a hurry or just need some basic items. Otherwise, keep driving.

In this neighborhood, we call it «The Soviet Safeway» because of the lack of selection and the awful service. I just left the store on a very non-crowded day, yet the lines were backed into the aisles and the cashier quite hapless. Three employees were needed to accomplish an override. When I realized they had not one bag of ice, I abandoned my cart and left. Ugh! Use this Safeway for emergencies but go to Harrison Street for real groceries.

Rick thinks not. I don’t know why they bother having a bakery, and the produce section is too pretty to have such marginal food.

I just noticed that the Safeway brand pickles we purchased earlier this month were stamped«SELLBYNOV/2008». I’ve had it with this store.

This Safeway is often not crowded which makes it easy to shop here getting a parking space up front, and getting rung up quickly. Staff is friendly. Wish there was better produce though. It is good for picking up some essentials.
