Sound familiar? This is a moment when we head to the food court at Tysons Corner Center. The food court on the upper level offers basic variety.
I have been to this establishment many times before and I must say the best value are the bento meals. Today, I had the #3 that included some rolls, bulgoki, rice and salad. $ 12 and change which included a medium soft drink. $ 1 extra for kimchi, though.
Not the best. Not the worst. But, it’s fine for «mall» food. No high expectations, but Five Guys is located right next door. Just saying. :D

Oh no! I was disappointed with Taka Grille.
I really wanted phở and was willing to pay the $ 9 for a bowl of beef phở at the Tyson’s I mall food court. After an unfriendly counter person took my order and flung the change at me, I was treated to an unappetizing, lukewarm bowl of phở. I understand that the offerings of a kiosk in a suburban shopping mall cannot be compared to an authentic bowl of steaming Vietnamese phở, but what I received was simply inedible. I’m sad to say I can’t think of even one nice thing to write about the food. Soggy noodles and oddly rainbow-​hued beef slices floated morosely in a broth flavored like one would image dishwater to taste. After the chilly, borderline hostile reception I received at the counter, I did not return to give the establishment a «chance to make it right». Instead I opted to just throw the bowl away and head to pita pocket in an attempt to salvage the evening.
This disappointing culinary experience compounded by an angry counter service provider will keep me from returning to this location again.

I opted for the seafood Phở. It was a lot of food, well prepared, but a bit bland. Maybe it’s supposed to be that way. I liked it. The kimchi is good, very spicy compared to some, but good flavor.

For fast food, food court, mall food this great! We were both very happy with our lunches. Teriyaki beef chicken combo an chicken shrimp combos were on point!

They have sashimi — but DON“T get this. overpriced for the quality of sashimi you get. THey also sell phở and bulgogi
It’s convenient since they’re all in one location — One of the better asian food courts in Tysons corner. Would return for bulgogi but NOT for their sashimi. I should have known better!

The food was terrible, the Pad Thai was dry and had no flavor. You have to add soy sauce to give it some flavor and moisture.
I thought that you couldn’t mess up Pad Thai but I was wrong!!! This place SUCKS don’t waist your money keep it moving and look for another option.

Impressive Fast Asian Cuisine

In terms of fast/​mall food I am always skeptical because standards are always lower than most standard restaurants. My review for «Great Wraps» pretty much proved my point.
However, Taka Grille thoroughly shot down my perceived notions with a downright delicious pad thai. I understand it is a quick dish and it is hard to mess up, but having eaten at over a dozen Thai restaurants in the past 2 years, I can tell you that while it isn’t to mess up, it is hard to get it right. The noodles tasted buttery and the chicken was cooked just right (was expecting something dry and tasteless). Everything was fresh from the main ingredients to the parsley decorations and the lime.
The shrimp shumai are something to pass over. They tasted odd (prepackaged/​frozen?). I drenched them in sauce to give it a passable flavor.
If you are looking for a quick lunch in Tyson Center Mall, I highly recommend trying this place out and getting the pad thai (skip the shumai).

You know why I like these guys. The Asian family running this place TRIES. Not the best phở or seafood phở but they put out a good product. Great bentos and 95 cent kimchi.

This place is actually pretty good. You get a decent portion of the Miso soup which is good. The bento box with Teriyaki chicken fed Jason and mommy well.
For a kid that loves Five Guys (next door, but there were 20 people in line on a Saturday night)…he was happy with the chicken. IT must be good if he eat every piece and snagged rice from my Tomakasu crispy pork dish.
A little slow, but no problem as it is Saturday night in one of the busiest malls in America!

Consistently good food and prices.

This little gem is located in the third-​floor food court (next to the AMC movie theatre) in the Tysons Corner mall. They are pretty fast (compared to the long line and slow service at the Five Guys next door). Their Vietnamese beef phở is yummy (yes I was surprised to find tasty Asian food in a food court). I agree with the other reviewers that this little place does not serve Americanized sweet and sour Asian food, but rather pretty good dishes (by mall standards). My friend had Japanese tonkatzu (fried pork cutlet), and it is not as good. The pork was dry and over fried. I would recommend you steer clear of the Japanese section and take advantage of their Vietnamese section of their menu.

The crispy pork was certainly crispy. Crispy to a crisp. I need denser teeth to eat this. The white rice was good. I like rice.

I have been to this place about 7 times because the food is decent. But I will NEVER go back again. The last couple of times I went, I noticed that the staff were rude but I didn’t let it bother me. This most recent time, though, was above and beyond. The owners, a Korean couple, are insane. They are rude and have really bad tempers, especially the wife. She got really upset at me just for asking how long they had been charging $ 1 for kimchi (which is by the way FREE at Korean restaurants and Taka Grille only gives a little tiny cup of kimchi). Now, I understand they have every right to charge whatever they want for their food, but I was so taken aback by the way the woman responded with so much hostility and then told me that if I didn’t like it, I didn’t have to eat their food. So, I said, okay — I don’t want your food. I asked for my money back and told the husband «I really hope you guys are on Unilocal» to which he retorted «It’s your fault!». Then, the wife started screaming at me from behind the counter and everyone was looking at her because she was acting crazy~~ Wow, I have never been treated so badly by a fast food place in my life but more than that, I feel really sorry for those people…

It has been a few years since I have returned to Tyson’s Corner mall in Fairfax County. My trips to VA have been to Arlington County only the last few years. Stick with the sushi and the udon soup. The shui Mai is very Price Club frozen food type! Tyson’s corner has one of the best shopping mall food courts on the East Coast. This is not saying much though.

I ordered a lot of sushi from here for takeout recently. I thought it was somewhat expensive for what I got, and all of my unagi dishes had bones in them. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bone in my unagi before in my life, even at much shadier sushi joints, but here, most every piece had some bones in it.

Taka is definitely one of the better options in the food court at Tysons Corner Center. Ordered the Teryaki chicken bento box. Huge portions with chicken, rice, california rolls, and salad. It easily fed one and a half of us (one of whom had only half-​eaten a bad meal from Charlie Chiang’s). If you’re compelled to pick a restaurant in the food court, you’ll be safe with Taka. If you feel like walking a little further, check out Cava Mezze for much better food for the same price.

Located in the food court of Tyson’s Corners Mall, this is the only Asian place that doesn’t serve American Asian food.
They have chicken teriyaki, bugolgi, pad Thai and phở. The food here is average, not great but it isn’t bad. I would pass on the pad Thai and phở though.
For a food court place, go for the dishes that are the hardest to screw up on: chicken teriyaki.

Taka Grille is a decent food joint that has many options for those in the mood for an Asian meal. The place has Chinese, Japanese, and Korean options — often The Wife ends up picking the donkatsu plate. Simple — just a fried pork cutlet and rice with the donkatsu sauce.
Prices are standard for the mall — expect to shell out about $ 10 for a meal to fill you up. When you’re done, head to Cold Stone and complete the 2000 calorie meal!

Decent food for a mall venue. Yes I know that’s like saying he’s good at basketball for an Asian guy. Or that pizza is good for being 3 days old. Anyhow.
You can basically get a regular item, which is a bowl of rice, topped with meat on one side and lettuce & dressing on the other. The dressing is creamy and a bit anonymous which is fine since you don’t come here to eat lettuce.
The Bento Box offers meat, rice, lettuce, and California rolls. The misses thought their California Rolls were pretty good all things considered.
I’ve tried the bulgogi, chicken teriyaki, and tonkatsu (fried and breaded pork cutlet). If memory serves me correct those are the three main options for meat. The bulgogi is actually pretty decent. The tonkatsu is similarly good. The chicken teriyaki leans on the greasy side. And last time I tried it, the meat was overcooked.
This is probably my go-​to place inside Tyson’s food court. Now, if they’d only serve kimchi.
