Value Vet

Notwithstanding their lack of opposable thumbs my cats give it two thumbs up.

I, unfortunately, had to make the hard decision to have my dog put to sleep. I live in the Northern VA area, and as most people know, the cost of living is high. I’m a single mother, just barely making ends meet on one income. Because of my financial circumstances, I have to get estimates for almost everything. When I called my vet, I was told that euthanasia would cost between $ 400 and $ 600, depending on whether or not I wanted her ashes back. Needless to say, those numbers were not ones I could afford. After calling around, I found that those prices were pretty standard. Making this decision was excrutiatingly hard already; the fact that it would cause financial hardship seemed so unfair.
I heard about Value Vet from a friend. When I called them, they were very kind on the phone. They quoted me a price that allowed me to keep my dog’s ashes for about ¹⁄₃ of what other area vets charge.
Dr. V and the staff were very compassionate and gentle during the procedure. They did everything they could to make it easy on me and to keep my dog calm and comfortable. She went quickly and quietly, and I was given time alone once it was over to say goodbye.
The next time I visit this office, it will be under far happier circumstances. I have other pets, and even though their office is not close by, I believe the drive to have them cared for will be worth it.
I highly recommend this practice. I am very active in animal rescue and I will refer anyone and everyone who asks me to this vet. After my experience, I would choose them as my go-​to vet based on that alone. The fact that the prices are so reasonable is a bonus.
