Solid wine selection. We started off with an excellent french onion soup and fondue. I’d probably pass on the fondue next time. It’s average, and I’d rather save room to try other things. My Carlton Farms pork was perfectly cooked, and my wife enjoyed her salmon entrée as well. For dessert we had the pavlova with strawberries and it was the star of the meal. I hope to come back for our next anniversary.

From the time we stepped in to the moment we left, my husband and I were impressed by how attentive the wait staff was. The wine selection and wine stewardess was great. Answering our questions and making a good suggestion to accompany our meal. The food. Ah the food, having come back from France not to long ago it is hard to compare. Nice touch with the croissant topped escargot. The Chestnut soup was delicious and our entrees were very good. My only preference was if the skin of the duck had been a little crisper on the Duck Confit since the sauce made it a little soggy. Not that I wouldn’t order it again. We will eat here again!

the boss and I have traveled(and dined) extensively in France, and I can say with some authority that Bistro Maison has nailed the French dining experience in every way. There is a myth that French waiters are rude. Not so. And the staff at Bistro Maison capture the warmth, friendliness and customer service so prevalent there. Sorry, Beth, Mike and Brandon, you must have hit a monumentally bad day — we dined there May 27th, and had great service, fabulous food, and superb presentation. Try again. The staff was so accommodating that, although we had made reservations for two, they cheerfully set us up at a four place when friends unexpectedly called to join us. And although our friends were 20 minutes away, the staff graciously allowed us the time in a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. The meal was outstanding, everything done to perfection. I highly recommend Bistro Maison to everyone, even Beth, Mike and Brandon… just maybe pop a chill pill before you get there.

Really disappointing. Food was mediocre. We had a group of 6, started with fondue, some had steak, others had fish, and few had shrimp– all were atrocious. Wine list is good but overpriced. But the real disappointment was with the service. No one was assigned to us and we were handled by a «committee» of servers and other staff. People came in after us and left before us. And to top it off the service charge was included. There are many better places in McMinnville.

How do I give less than one star? I’d rather get my nipples pierced while having my toenails pulled out than eat there again… Absolutely terrible service with poor quality of food and no appreciation for the customers concerns/complaints. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Very disappointed. Terrible experience. No waitperson was assigned to our table. Several came and went. Checked on tables around us but not us. Felt like we were inconveniencing them when trying to select a wine by the glass. Wait time for food was long, which we absolutely would not have been opposed to if we had a waitperson who was engaging and checked in with us occasionally. Everyone around us got their food first. Then had 20% tip required because there were 6 of us. Even though the service wasn’t deserving of that. Food was ok. Not great. Shrimp overcooked. Vegetables over cooked. The soup of the day was very good. One salad we ordered we never got. We eat out a lot. And at a lot of very nice restaurants around the world. Neither service nor food was worth the $ 400 price tag.

This is a very fun French restaurant established in an old house on 3rd Street(the main drag) in McMinnville. The décor and architecture make this a light-hearted location to visit. The one thing they take very seriously, though, is the food. Top notch French cuisine and fondue, as well as exceptionally good service make this a great place to celebrate a visit to wine country, a birthday, anniversary, or some other special event. Like most good French restaurants, its not a cheap date, but some judicious ordering and sharing will help the save the wallet workout a little bit. The cheese and truffle fondue is a must prior to your entrée. They bring crusty bread, apple, red potato, and ham bites for dipping, and everything works together like a dream. I have tried a couple of their pork chop offerings, as well as ravioli, halibut, and Coq au Vin. Everything I have tried here has been exquisite. The desserts are absolutely ridiculous in their richness, presentation, and overall taste. They finish the meal by offering different types of whole, local nuts with nutcrackers. Its a fun and different way to finish your meal. Their wine list is one of the best in the area, and they also allow you to enjoy your own wines, should you choose to bring some with you, for a small corkage fee. Overall, I highly recommend Bistro Maison. Spend an evening here and you will not be disappointed.

First of all the owner was pretty rude by making fun of another customer’s choice of wine. Bad start and really bad impression. She then took our order asking what we liked in a wine — I said a delicate red with minerality– I got served a glass of big jammy average Grenache!?! Whatever. It was $ 14 too(a glass). The other problem was that we told her we were not very hungry and would share the small fondue as a starter– she told us we really had to get the large one for $ 26($ 12 more). We don’t eat ham– the main thing that the big one had that the small on didn’t. Bottom line, she was very bossy and not a nice person. The up side was that the food was good. Thank god for that! The other bright side was that after the owner bullied us and upsold us, she disappeared. Other servers took over from there and they were all very nice. I left a 20% tip ONLY because I wanted those servers to not suffer because of their bosses behavior. I’ll never go back. There are way too many places with good food and much better wine by the glass. Ugh.

Everything we ordered was excellent. My husband is European and it has been difficult to find a place where the food is authentic French cuisine to suit his tastes. I personally hate French food, but was delighted in spite of myself and my picky nature. My husband had the Duck: sublime. I had the salad and oysters with puff pastry and garlic butter. Honestly, there were a lot of «best things I have ever eaten» on this visit. This salad is the best salad of all salads in my life. I loathe oysters, but I was enticed into trying one because of the cute little puff pastry they are served with, and because they are cooked with garlic butter. Amazing, truly Amazing. I would have told anyone they were full of it if they said I would be eating oysters by the end of this meal… but voilà! Can’t forget my parents’ pork chop, fondue, and French Onion soup! Not a single dish missed the mark on these Americans, and beyond that even, my parents tried everything on the meat and cheese plate! They loved all. Mom said«this is the kind of place I was looking for on our anniversary!». My one and only complaint is the noise level. We were stuck next to a big, extremely loud table that ruined any chance of hearing each other. But, Not much a place can do about that. Proprieter has to eat too.

This place is heaven. McMinnville is a little gem of a town, right at the heart of Oregon’s wine country. It’s tiny(I call it McMiniville) and quite quaint and chic. Bistro Maison sits at the heart of this casually cheerful glow. A storybook little house, bright and cozy, ornate bordering on tacky, but charming nonetheless. The atmosphere is fantastic, the space is in keep with the name — warm and welcoming, with a calculated excess of decorative flourish that doesn’t take away from the home like overall feeling. Everything is infused with obvious passion and pride of the people who own the place, the food, the service, the space. The food is glorious. The home made, perfectly balanced charcuterie, including two sorts of delicious pâté, rillette and two of saucissons garnished with cornichons and onion preserves is opulent. Three beautifully crafted cheeses complete the feast. We shared the fondue, which was good, very rich, smoky with a primary Gruyère flavor. We also had the ultimately decadent oysters with Pernod butter, parsley and dill, topped with a ball of fluffy mille-feuille. The French onion soup is a must. I must confess I didn’t expect to have such delicious Confit de Canard. Even the fries are special in their own way. The Coq au Vin is to die for, and even the pork chop is wonderful. Be warned, the wine list is distinctly overpriced, especially for being right in the middle of the wine country, but nothing is perfect. I have to make a special note about how careful and accommodating the owner was with all our requests. We felt pampered, and they went out of their way several times to make sure we were happy with the food, They are so caring and obviously so invested in your experience that it actually feels like being in a dear friend’s home. The desserts are fabulous. I would definitely recommend the perfect profiteroles and the chocolate mousse is positively sensual. We had a most excellent Ice Wine with our desserts and it’s worth trying. My absolutely heartfelt compliments to Chef Jean-Jacques! All in all, it feels unreal. Deep in the countryside of Oregon, yet one of the best dining experiences you can hope for. We will certainly come back!

The best, freshest oysters ever. Everything else was very good. Somewhat tight quarters. Very popular.

Yum yum yum! The chestnut soup was amazing. The burger so big and juicy I could hardly navigate it. Delicious iced tea and a wonderful wine list. The proprietress gave perfect service and graciously accepted our service animal. We will return happily to this lovely restaurant.

We had a lovely visit. Our small dog was welcomed on the patio with her own bucket of water. Every dish was superb. We will return when we are in town.

Some food was good. The outdoor seating was nice. But our server was horrible and the food was not very good and overpriced. I think there’s tourist hype surrounding this place. We won’t go back. Luckily, there are plenty of other great dining options in Mac.

It would have been such a nice birthday celebration for my wife if not for one event that completely baffles me. I could tell this would not be a great place for kids so when I made my reservation I mentioned I couldn’t find a babysitter and the woman assured me that was fine. Sure enough when we arrived, they had prepared a basket of toys and books for my kids. Things were going great until I took my eye off my 8 month old for one second during fondue and she got ahold of my strawberry lemonade, filled to the brim. There it went, across the floor in a giant mess. My wife was mortified and I was apologizing profusely. The waiter made no big deal of it and promptly cleaned it up like a pro, assuring me he would replace my drink. But strangely I didn’t hear from him again and after our dinner arrived I asked him about that replacement. He answered me sort of embarrassedly that his boss said she would require him to charge me for it. I stammered in surprise and then declined. I don’t understand why you go through the trouble of constructing a premium dining experience and then insult your customer over a few dollars. Is this a friendly restaurant or a tourist trap gift shop with a strict«you break it, you buy it» policy? The cost to them would have been minimal but now I don’t even remember how the food was, all I can think about is that lemonade.

Highly recommend for special occasions, but a little pricy for an average night out. It’s beautiful, especially the outdoor seating, but not so fancy that you can’t be yourself there. The staff were all warm and helpful. And the food… was fantastic! First course: patte and salad with a side of dijon. The salad had baked apple slices that were then chilled, so that was weird. Fresh apple or hot baked apple would have been better. Patte was great! Second course: squash and cheese ravioli. This was a simple but delicious and tender filling inside the best fresh pasta I’ve ever had, swimming in a sauce of mostly butter which I’m not complaining about. Superb! Third course: vanilla bean ice cream profiteroles with chocolate orange sauce and a cup of coffee. Everything was perfect, including the coffee.

Who knew this kind of food would be available in this little town. We loved it here! The meal was so delicious we went two nights in a row and had the same dinner! The owners are the Chef and the hostess and let me tell you these guys know wine and food. We so enjoyed the duck with added foie gras and the muscles. They have a lovely wine selection and trust me they know every bottle on their list and how to pare it with their food.

I might be turning into a travel writer :) Visited Bistro Maison based on Unilocal reviews, and I was so thankful for this insanely delicious meal in the middle of a teeny tiny town. We went with a large group, and ordered a king’s feast. The hostess thoughtfully asked us if we were in a hurry. We assured her we wanted to eat French style — stage our food, drag it out, keep us eating. So, lets get on with the review: We tried the charcuterie plate — beautiful mix of creamy and hard cheeses, jelly, salami, and two types of pâté. This was seriously some of the best pâté I have had, with pistachios, delicate flavor, and wonderful texture. Bread was fresh and delicious. Two types of mussels — I was too busy eating the Provencal — balanced and fragrant — to try the spicy one. Mussels were well made, with no closed rejects(good job picking out the ones I wouldn’t have eaten!). Fondue — this one was a little generic. Cheese fondue with apples, bread, ham. I didn’t really find anything exceptional here. Skip the fondue. The salmon/leek/gruyère savory tart was well made, and the combination of flavors was harmonious. Lastly, my dessert — Normandy Apple tart — visually beautiful, delicious, mild in sweetness, and accented by a stone fruit compote. I will definitely go back there if I travel to Wmt Valley again.

A very cute bistro with the option to sit indoors or outside. We chose outside and it felt like a neighbors back yard. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable. We split the meat entrée. It was tender and delicious. I especially love the sauce, maybe a port wine reduction? Unilocal offered a complimentary dessert. Unfortunately they were out of crème brûlée but the pie dish that was served was a perfect summer dessert. Refreshing and cooling. I saw other tables with the fondue which looked awesome so maybe will have to come back for that!

C’est vraiment magnifique! J’ai manger un dejeuner tellement delicieux! I can’t begin to really properly convey how great this meal was(in neither French nor English), but there was fresh french bread followed by a flurry of heavenly spreads of pâté, rilettes, and soups. They were PHENOMENAL. We also ordered a tartiflette, which 3 months later I can no longer remember what was in it other than it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. GO. Just go. It’s in this gorgeous little garden in the middle of Oregon’s wine country, and in late September, the weather was perfect. Our neighbors mussels smelled to die for, and the service was on point.
