Craig was awesome, knowledgeable, friendly and personal. My fiancé an I live in San Diego and we were visiting his family for Xmas. Also we are having our wedding this coming summer and decided to stop by and check out Haagensons Catering«Ribslayer for our wedding. We were so impressed with the delicious mouth watering food and friendliness from Craig and staff. We didn’t have an appointment since we were just passing by and didn’t think they were open. To our luck Craig was open and received us with a big smile, lots of information about catering a wedding and list of good food. No reason for us to look anywhere else, we booked with him right there and then. We are very excited to have Haagensons Catering«Ribslayer cater our wedding. Thank you Craig for taking care us. Smelled like heaven — smoky meat and tangy BBQ sauce in the air. Menu looked great too, I had trouble deciding. And food was just OK, but sandwiches were dry, especially the meat. Sigh.

The babyback ribs were delicious, the meat fell right off the bone. The red potato salad was really good, not too much mayonnaise so you could taste the potatoes and other ingredients. It was great to order ahead and just drop by and pick it up, there are only a couple tables.

We used Rib Slayer/Haggensons for a recent summer family birthday party. It was my moms 85th birthday so we had ages 2 – 85. My family thought what I ordered was a little out of the norm(for our family) and were skeptical about my catering choices. We had Bbq shredded pork, baked beans, potato salad, corn bread and peach crisp. Everything was perfect! Hardly anything leftover even though they gave us plenty of food. The pork was tender, and tasty and the sauce on the side was soooo good. The corn bread was gone in an instant and everyone kept commenting about how good everything was. My sister in law said after the meal«now I get what you were thinking when you ordered that. It was a great meal». The service from Haggensons was so professional and well done and they really couldn’t have made us happier. Nice job!

Friendly service, amazing food, cool decorated environment, decent prices for the amount of food they give you. Highly recommend this place!

I love Ribslayer! Every time I come here the staff is super friendly, the food tastes amazing, and I leave feeling satisfied. What more could you ask for? Just do yourself a favor and follow the intoxicating, smokey smell to the back side of third street and meet yourself some delicious bbq.

Anyone who appreciates ribs will love this place. It is small and limited seating but take it to the park and have it there or take it home. Great ribs, pulled pork and other expected rib items. Go there11

I’m a sucker for good barbecue and the giant smoker outside had me optimistic. The ribs were a lot drier than I expected unfortunately, and I found it strange that a bbq restaurant would have«extra sauces» on the menu at an additional cost– it’s bbq, extra sauces should be the default. And the tiny seating area makes it tough to dine in. Despite the poor review, I can see myself coming back because there are not a lot of options for smoked beef and pork in McMinnville. But I won’t splurge on the ribs, I’ll get something nice and safe like a brisket sandwich.

If you’re looking for some good ol’ home style, saucy MEAT, then this is the place for you. The brisket is so very tender and juicy, and the peanut slaw is a great side! I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve had at this place, except for the coleslaw, which wasn’t my favorite. Besides that, this place is second to none when it comes to some good stick-to-your-ribs hearty eating.

Totally underwhelming! If you want dry brisket warmed in the microwave with no flavor then definitely stop in! If this is what passes for bbq around here then I feel bad. No smoke flavor at all. Better bbq in my backyard.

We always love to stop at Ribslayer BBQ when we head down to McMinnville. We love to get their burnt ends. The last time we were there was Thanksgiving weekend 2014. We stopped in late afternoon and purchased a pound of the burnt ends to take with us. This time approximately one half was pure fat, and that has never been our experience before. Disappointing. All the other items we have purchased there have been very good. Love their coleslaw.

I would give five stars but I was disappointed by the single bite size serving of coleslaw. Size needs to at least double so there is a minimum of three bits. Lol. I had the XXX sammich. It was amazing. The brisket was the best. Also friend I was with choose a BBQ plate. Perfect plate lunch. I will return.

I always make an effort to eat here when I’m in Mcminnville. Easily the best BBQ place I have ever been to! My favorites are the Mofo Sandwich and the red potato salad.

Ended up stopping on our way to the coast. The the food was pretty good. I had the brat and corned beef. It was flavorful and cooked to perfection. It was reasonably priced and the owner was very friendly. The one thing I forget is not all places to eat are regular sit down restaurants. This said when you think of hole in the wall this place is it. It seats 10-ish comfortably anymore and you would feel packed in like sardines. It was a great little place to check out.

Stopped in here this evening. It’s location is behind third street off the main drag. I had brisket and sausage and my lady had the short ribs. My brisket was tender and juicy and this is actually the first BBQ joint where I actually liked the mac n cheese. My lady was not overly impressed with the ribs because there was a degree of oiliness that she was not big on. I actually really liked the ribs so to each there own. The beans are beyond impressive very tasty. There is not a lot of dining space which actually adds a level of character for the place which I thought was neat. And honestly the water is amazing why I mentioned that I don’t know it’s just water but it was cold and crisp. All in all good experience and I would recommend to others who are fond of BBQ. Prices are fair as well

wife and I, or I should say just her, picks up pulled pork and brisket after work once a week and wow is it good. we’ve never been inside, but it seems a little tight. On Thursdays they are at the farmers market, no waiting, just order and eat.

As others have said, this is a difficult place to find. The entrance is in a gravel driveway across from Gallery Players. This place is totally worth looking for though. I have been here on several occassions. The staff is very friendly, and the food is always really good. A friend and I came here the other day with my son. My friend had the Mac Attack sandwich, and I had one of the plates. The Mac Attack is a sandwich with Mac and Cheese and meat. He said that the sandwich is superb. My plate of food was really good as well. I would recommend this place to others, and I will definitely be back for more. The only drawback is the small size. Inside seating is very limited.

*Seats 7 inside– table outside — but the aroma… Is intoxicating! — Okay, I miscounted. 10 inside. Maybe 13 if there are stools on the backside of the counter. But since when does size matter in BBQ joints? Never never never. We stopped here solely on the recommendations on Unilocal — and yes, they speak the truth. This is BBQ done right. Be aware that you enter this place from the alley — it’s built into the backside of the buildings that face 3rd street in old downtown, just east of Evans St., and about 3 – 4 blocks east of old Hwy 99. There’s a small parking lot area back there, too — so maybe you can find a parking spot near the door. Husband and I both got the pulled pork sandwich — a solid test of BBQ greatness — which they passed with flying colors. I got mine with 2 slices of their fresh smoked/grilled pork belly — that would be 3/8″ thick slab bacon crusted in a slightly sweet dry rub and grilled. It was divine. And divine is what we’re looking for. I couldn’t tell if the crunchy chips were house made or just really good kettle-chips, but either way, they were excellent. The sandwich was so satisfying, I left most of my chips behind! Sandwiches came with a pickle spear, chips and a little 2oz cup of slaw — I’m guessing for people who like to add the slaw to their sandwich — but my sandwich was already too thick to fit into my big mouth — so I just had the slaw on the side. It was nice, but a little heavy on the mayo-type dressing, and otherwise not particularly spectacular. I saw they offer a Peanut Slaw main dish, with or without chicken, that I will be trying in the future — slaw is one of my favorite things, so I’m always on the lookout for a stellar addition to my best-slaw-list. Evidently they work very hard coming up with menu items that will satisfy their vegetarian customers — They also had a stuffed mushroom entre. Normal Coke products soft drinks, plus iced tea(sweet and un) and lemonade. I tried the lemonade, hoping for a glass of icy fresh-made, but got pale and barely iced. Ah well. But the BBQ — which is the main event — is very very ver-y nice. *Pigslayer is the name of their moveable feast-maker — a huge black dragon-looking BBQ grilling monster on wheels that resides on the gravel lot by the entry.

This place is hard to find, but when you do, it is totally worth it! This place exceeds any of the BBQ places I’ve been at in Texas. These guys don’t slather everything the BBQ sauce. They use rubs and good ol’smoke.(However, their house sauce is really good) The country style pork ribs are incredible when they available. The pulled pork sandwiches rock too! Add the Thai peanut slaw & hands down one of the best BBQ meals you’ve ever had.

M & I dropped on on a Saturday for lunch just after they opened. The seating is limited, so it is not good for a big group, but i did notice they do a lot of takeout/catering. We sat at a picnic bench outside in the sun. M had the two meat platter with corned beef & brisket. I had the burnt ends(edges of the brisket, chopped). We shared coleslaw and baked beans. The brisket was really tender I would order it over the burnt ends next time. The food was really great. The only thing that was a little off putting was that we were charged a couple dollars extra for corned beef(we were told its because the meat is more expensive) and it was only two small slices. After we had paid and our food was delivered he inquired about BBQ sauce and the kind he wanted was extra and I had to dig through my purse while the food was sitting there to find two quarters. I wish they would just add .50 to everything on the menu and skip the up charges.
