Went back again for a second try and finally figured out how the menu works. Do NOT order off the menu, it is generic and average at best, over priced at worst. The KEY to getting the really good food is too read the daily specials off the white board. They have an amazing cajun cook and the food is really really good, its just you are limited to the daily specials. My son ordered Chicken Alfredo cost ~$ 17 and was generic(off the menu). I ordered the jambalaya(off the daily specials whiteboard) cost ~$ 13 and it was AMAZING. I would recommend eating here but only off the daily special board.

Went there for lunch, and the food was awesome. I had a grilled shrimp cajun wrap with jambalaya and my co-worker had the cajun pork chop(seasoned, battered and deep fried of course) with jambalaya and dirty rice. Our meals were $ 8.95 and included a drink. Great price! The spices were spot on and food was served up fresh and hot. I hope to get back there for suppertime and really tear into the menu. I agree with Jamie D… MJ, its not a chain restaurant, sometimes they will run out of items. You get home cooked, real food. Not some chain restaurant cajun food that’s the same every time. Try it again, MJ… you won’t be disappointed!!! Racheal is from New Orleans and makes only authentic Nawlins food! FYI, everyone, there is a American section on the menu for those who don’t like cajun.

Not sure what happened MJ but we eat there a lot and have had everything you stated they didn’t have. We travel to the gulf coast every year and love this place because it’s one of the few places in central Illinois you can find this kind of food and it’s always been as good if not better then we have south.

DaRajunCajun serves up the most delicious Cajun food you’ll find! I placed a large order for jambalaya, blackened alligator, bacon — wrapped jalapeño poppers, and crab — stuffed mushrooms for a work luncheon. Everything was out of this world! Even the homemade dipping sauce and ranch dressing was delicious. My co-workers all raved and wanted to know where to go for more. I still cannot believe how large and beautiful the appetizers were. Spices and seasoning were shot on! I’m anxious to go back and try some of their other signature Cajun dishes. Maybe this weekend!

Awesome creole food, Freshest seafood you’ll find in the area. I had crawfish tails and blackened frog legs, my companion had jambalaya and blackened chicken alfredo. The crab stuffed mushrooms are a must have. If you’re looking for authentic cajun/creole food, this is the place for you. Reasonable prices, friendly wait staff. It’s a brand new, busy restaurant and everything is made from scratch, so be prepared to wait for your food. The full service bar helps pass the time quickly. We watched live music and enjoyed seasonal drafts to pass the time. Definitely worth the drive. More details on facebook:
