Mountain Mike’s Pizza

I’ve been a long time customer of both Meadow Vista and Auburn’s Mountain Mike’s locations, same owners at both.
Quality and quantity have been going down over the years, and some ingredients missing now and then, but it’s pizza, I understand, I’m a chef and understand costs and employee inconsistencies.
Tonight however, they’ve lost my business for good.
Firstly, they wouldn’t honor a call in coupon that has never been an issue, they have my history in their records. So I went with their special, 7 bucks off two large pizzas. Employee on the phone asked me what day it was… I gave him a good five seconds and he was «uhhhhing» still before I informed him. Wow.
So since my significant other wanted extra sauce compared to the paper thin sauce they put on, on a half cheese, half pepperoni. I asked for lots of sauce. Extra extra was their question, I said yes. Regular split special pizza.
The bill came out not sounding right. Owner didn’t budge, and informed me that they did extra extra extra sauce. Sauce apparently is a topping. Almost $ 2 a pop at three extra on their call. I explained that wasn’t right and nobody ever charges sauce as topping, especially considering their cheap canned sauce, but nothing. I paid, explained I was not happy, and left.
What I got for almost $ 45, with coupon, was a lackluster half cheese half sparse pepperoni with where anywhere else would be normal, maybe MAYBE extra sauce and a horribly made special pizza.
Embarrassing. Frankly, openly… bad service, management, product. Dissatisfaction in person about the ridiculous price and on phone about the quality amounted to nothing. Very very disappointed. Let the pictures tell the tale.

In my opinion, not a good pizza. Now I see why there was only one other guest in the place at 6:30pm. We were over in Meadow Vista for a volleyball game and were super hungry afterwards. What a huge let down. Rare to bring home leftovers with my appetite. But we brought home a bunch.
We ended up throwing all the leftover pizza away because it stunk up the fridge.

I critique pizza places by their pepperoni. I grew up loving this place for their pepperoni, the way it was a little crispy on the top and always covered the entire pizza.
I was craving it the other night and since there is not one where I live anymore I visited the same one I went to all throughout childhood.
The veggie half was alright. The pepperoni half, the reason I went, was like cheese pizza with some pepperoni throw on. See picture. Maybe three small pieces of meat per slice, what gives Mountain Mikes? Fully disappointed.

The Mountain Mike’s Pizza in AUBURN IS GREAT!!! I think that’s because they wash their hands before touching any and all food. I’ve been sick for 2 days since purchasing a pizza from this MV location. Sorry but, you need to WASH your hands before touching food and I mean all the time during your shift. The word around town is… no to MV MM’s pizza, because of the cleanliness issue. For pity sakes, take a few notes from the Auburn MM’s, and put cleanliness before $$$$$!!! And… learn to be polite to ALL customers. Christina’s, here we come. Just sayin’…for the money, don’t spend it on being sick.

This is good pizza. We used to come here every time we visited our family here an it was the bomb. Great food and salad, can’t wait to come back

Good pizza for a good price. They have a strangle hold on the market in meadow vista seeing as its one of the very few restaurants in town. Never have to wait too long for a pie and the service is good. There is something to be said about a place in a small town that can keep their doors open.

I eat here from time to time. It’s usually pretty awesome. I like it better than round table it’s not as greasy. It’s a little pricy but finding a coupon takes me about 90 seconds. The staff has always been friendly and the manager/​owner is great. She always makes me feel welcome. Try the sizzling bacon classic it’s the best.

I have been coming to this pizza place all my life and I must say they have really improved over the years. It is very difficult to survive as a business in this small town, but Mountain Mikes has withstood the test of time. Literally every single business in Meadow Vista has changed in the past 30 years, but this place remains. The owners have changed (twice I think) but definitely for the better. The current owner is almost always there when I come in. I don’t remember her name, but she always remembers my family and calls my mom by her first name. Yes, sometimes there may be teenagers who work there that are rude, or attempt to close early while you are still eating your dinner, but if you notice they only act like this when the owner is not around. And to me they are easy to deal with, just be assertive and don’t put up with their attitudes. Anyway, the pizza is good. The crust is a little thick, but sometimes that can be nice and they don’t skimp on the toppings or the cheese! They have different specials for every day of the week. Also, they mail coupons to people living close by which give you HUGE discounts when you use them! Tonight we got a $ 14 discount with our coupons, which may have just been the owner giving is an extra deal, but that seems to happen a lot. Anyway, whether or not the lady is smiling when she serves you or not, she is always friendly and locals definitely get treated well.

Yes I am not a Mountain Mikes fan. Yes I randomly was out in the middle of nowhere with not many options. Yes I got talked into Mountain Mikes by the family. Yes I was too weak to say no. Yes it was actually a pretty decent experience. We ordered a large pepp pizza and large combo to go. Order was pretty fast and sum b! tch it was pretty good. Pizza was fresh and toppings were plentiful. No I wont admit to liking MM’s pizza, but this experience for sure made me not hate it.

Unbelievably awful customer service! We’ve ordered several pizzas from here, always slightly disappointed, however since it’s close, we deal with it. No more! I just ordered a half and half pizza online, with very specific toppings and sauce preferences. Even specified in the ‘comment’ section what went on what side of the pizza, to make it very clear. Went and picked it up, paid $ 25, got home and found that they had disregarded our sauce preference. I called and let them know. They THEN called BACK to argue that THEY were right! I’m still in shock. I can’t believe a business would call back and ARGUE with a customer. We will NEVER eat there or order from them again. Papa Murphy’s, here we come.

3.5 stars overall. Good pizza lunch buffet on Wednesdays.
