I contacted this store with the hopes of finding a particular shoe that has been discontinued by Allen Edmonds. For those that are wondering, the model is the McTavish. The shoes are no longer offered on the Allen Edmonds website, and sizes/colors are limited on their factory store website( ). The Mebane factory location had the shoe in the color I wanted, but in a ½ size too big. I emailed the store with the hopes they could somehow search their nationwide database and locate a pair in my size/color. I received a very quick response from Mark, who said he would gladly try to find a pair for me. Shortly thereafter, Mark responded saying that he found a pair, and that they were firsts(non-factory) at a store in Texas. I gave him payment information and thanked him. When I received the tracking information, the store in Texas accidentally gave me the wrong tracking number, which was for something being delivered to the Allen Edmonds store in Short Hills, NJ. I contacted Mark to see if he could look into it for me. Mark again responded immediately, saying he would look into it. We were able to figure out that it was just a simple mistake, and that my shoes were actually on a truck to be delivered that day. In conclusion, I just wanted to thank Mark for going above and beyond, not only locating me a pair(he could have easily told me that the shoes were not available, and that would be that), but also quickly responding to the little tracking snafu. if you are looking for a pair of Allen Edmonds shoes, I would highly reccommend reaching out to Mark @ Melbane.

Store is great, salespeople are knowledgeable and very nice. They are willing to help and answer all questions you have! James had helped me find the right size for my feet, though the shoe I wanted was not in stock, he helped me find a similar fit to try on and had the shoes shipped to me free of charge! I’d definitely go back again to purchase!

I have a shopping philosophy. If you want groceries, go to a grocery store. If you want tools, go to a hardware store. If you want shoes, go to a shoe store. The common denominator is that the customer experience at these places is bettered by people who know the product and how to guide you in your purchase. When you, after 35 years of wearing shoes that hurt, find a shoe store that takes the time to size you perfectly and help you find shoes that fit like a glove, you don’t really want to look any further. As has been stated by others, Allen Edmonds are not inexpensive. Like anything else you buy, you pay for quality. AEs are quality from production to the customer experience. The store at Tanger in Mebane is no exception. Every SA I’ve worked with there has been friendly and helpful, even when told I wasn’t there to buy, just look. I have bought severa pairs over the last three years and will buy more.

First thing that must be noted: The shoes here are seconds. Now, Allen Edmonds is pretty awesome in almost every way. I absolutely love everything this company is about. A fine shoe that will last along time for the stylish, professional, American man. Now, a second doesn’t mean the shoe is terrible. In fact most times I struggle to find what the defect is. I picked up a $ 325 pair of shoes for $ 129. Why? Because there was a little problem with the grain of the leather around the laces. It just looks like it was burnished a little there. I couldn’t even notice it and it’s going to be under my pants anyways. What a deal! Just keep in mind that Allen Edmonds is the company that is popular with the presidents, the c-suite/businessmen, healthcare providers, just the top end of society in general… That combined with carrying a 300 – 400 price tag on average, the shoes are expected to be flawless… So where I am going with this is that an Allen Edmonds second isn’t something that is falling apart or nasty… It’s probably just a tiny often undetectable defect in the shoe. The other thing to look for here are the belts. Most of the belts aren’t second, but just ones that have been discontinued and are now being moved out. I’ve gotten phenomenal looking $ 100 belts for $ 30 and $ 40. This store also has all of the shoe care items you could need. Staff is top notch. Absolutely no complaints.

Allen-Edmonds is one of the last American-made shoe brands. Their high-quality men’s dress and casual shoes sell for premium prices at leading retailers all over the world. Allen-Edmonds prides itself on having a wide variety of sizes and widths, a rarity in this day and age. The Allen-Edmonds Company Shoe Store in Mebane, located in the Tanger Factory Outlet Center off I-85/40, is among a handful of company-owned locations that sell overstock, discontinued, and slightly imperfect shoes from the collection at a discount, as well as the entire full-price collection. There are also belts and accessories from Allen-Edmonds, Woodlore, Vineyard Vines and other brands. If you like shoes, you’re really going to like this place. Discount Allen-Edmonds shoes are still a bit pricey, but the savings off regular retail are substantial. Service is every bit as good as a full-priced retail store, if not better. If a shoe isn’t available in-store, the sales associates will track it down for you and send it right to your doorstep for a nominal shipping charge. The annual tent sale takes the discounts to a whole new level. Each year, unsold stock from all over the Allen-Edmonds retail network lands in Burlington for two weeks, with big savings and a massive selection to choose from. I’ve fallen in love with this store(eight pairs in five years and counting) and if you like shoes, I think you will too.
