This is a wonderful bed and breakfast not far from Chapel Hill. It’s a beautiful old home that was the home of the headmaster’s family for a preparatory school for young men in the 19th century. The newest part of the house is from 1835. It was restored in the 1980’s by the prior innkeepers. The DePrez’s, the current owners, have continued to restore and improve it and to fill the house with lovely and interesting antiques. The grounds are beautiful, with flower gardens, azaleas, stately trees, and a Pétanque court(French boules game, sort of like Bocce). Our room, the 1801 Room, had a four-poster bed, oriental rug, and nice bathroom with a whirlpool tub. Breakfast both mornings was yummy, especially the waffles with strawberries just picked from the garden. Francois DePrez was a friendly and helpful host. I strongly recommend this place for an anniversary or any occasion when you want a peaceful, quiet, and gracious stay in rural Orange County, NC.
