Traveling thru Chambersburg we thought we would try Hoss’s. The parking lot was almost full so it has to have good food right? Upon entering we noticed that you have to tell the cashier your order. Not a good thing. A hostess came over to us as we were trying to select our meal, and told us they were changing this and to follow her to our table and a waitress will take our order. This is the way it should be. We both order thick cut sirloins. This comes with soup & salad & desert bar which was fantastic! Don’t forget to check out the bread selection. Our steaks arrived and were perfect. Mine was cooked medium a little pink in the middle and my wife’s was cooked medium well. They were HOT just off the grill, tender and juicy. The flavor is so good you don’t have to use steak sauce. We WILL stop here again:):):):)

Many years ago you got a fresh cut steak at a reasonable price then there’s the salad bar which was great and still is great but the steaks have gone way down hill and way overpriced

The salad bar is great. I love that there were 4 different soups. Lots of desserts. We both got steaks and given that the salad bar is included in the price, it’s a good deal. Manager was very nice as are the rest of the staff. We will be coming back!

So stopped by with a group of friends on the way home, can’t say we were terribly impressed. For the price the food is fine, but I can’t see myself driving out of the way for some chicken tenders and a salad bar. Decent price for an average place.

Okay everybody goes to Hoss’s Steakhouse once in their lives. So I’ll keep it simple. At one time Hoss served a decent meal and throw in a salad bar. Now you pretty much go for the Salad bar and they throw in a piece of meat! Wife likes the salad and soup het choice tonight so we ended up here. I had a Burgundy Marinated Sirloin. It was prepared med. The way I like my steak. Noting exceptional. Had a baked potato with it and of course the Salad a Bar. Not my favorite but it sure beats Burger King! Extra star for the staff who work hard to try to make your visit enjoyable. At least the wife enjoyed the salad bar!

Good food. Salad bar is normally fresh. Eaten here at least fifty times. Great place for kids. They stopped using MSG years ago.

To explain my five stars, let me be clear about why we come here. It’s our second visit here while traveling on the PA turnpike between NJ shore & the Pittsburgh area. The food here is so much better quality than anything you’ll find at one of those sad service plazas. We mostly come here for the salad bar — it’s fresh, loaded with veggies, fruits, fresh breads, many soups, nachos, and desserts. My favorite soups here are the french onion, bean, broccoli, and cream of mushroom — all made just like my Grandma’s soups. I highly recommend their Parmesan peppercorn salad dressing. Lots of good desserts, but I always get the honey sweetened frozen yogurt with toppings bar, included in the amazing low price of the salad bar. Yum! All sandwiches and the tender tips we’ve tried have been good. It’s no Ruth Chris’s, but decent steaks for the: price. Much higher quality than a comparable Ponderosa type of steakhouse. Our waiter today was very friendly & attentive. Fast service and fast food prices for a healthy, delicious meal that I feel good about feeding my hungry boys while we’re on the road. My kids usually order the burger buddies with cheese entrée to split & salad bar for each. This quaint location shares a parking lot with a garden/nursery store which provides a heavily landscaped green areas & cute path for the kids to walk on to stretch their legs on our long car trips. It’s a great photo shoot location for cute kid photos on big rocks, benches or in the gazebo. We all love it here!

This Hoss’s was great! Our server kept our drinks filled, our plates cleared and he was very nice. I ordered the soup and salad bar and have no complaints. The restaurant was clean and there’s plenty of parking.

Not my first choice but the salad bar is decent with a nice selection of fresh greens and plenty of toppings. I only went for lunch and had a salad. The price was fair.

Its a salad bar/buffet and its small kid friendly. My son loves it so I’m upgrading the review. Service was fine. We had no wait to be eated. The salad bar was pretty standard. Nothing was a wow except I did particularly like the variety of breads they had available. They have a variety of steaks however I just opted for the salad bar given the large variety of items available and they had more than enough to amke a meal out of it. My son liked the build your own Sundae Bar as would any kid. I’m sure we’ll take him again as there was no reason not to return.

Chain steak house. Mystery cuts of steak poorly cooked. Salad bar is ok. Dessert bar fatty. If you have no other place to eat and you are on Rt. 15 and can’t stand the thought of another McDonalds this is probably better.

I’ve been here a few times before, it’s nothing special. They have a number of different steaks you can order as you enter, and also an okay salad/food bar you can purchase as well. Traditional American food, absolutely nothing special about it.
